14 Mom, did you call my homeroom teacher today to request a leave? (Part 2)

"We'd like to buy a Fire Dog," Riley's mother stated their purpose directly.

"Of course, please follow me." The staff member led the way.

She clearly had a lot of experience in her role, continuously providing information along the way, making the atmosphere less awkward.

"We currently have 27 Fire Dogs in our facility. They are all developing well, with two of them on the verge of evolving. Out of the other 25, 19 have already learned Spark," she said.

"Seven of them have even mastered Fireball move. They are slightly taller than the same-aged Fire Dogs, with about a few centimeters difference. And there are five..."

During the introduction, they had already arrived at the area specifically for raising Fire Dogs.

Before Riley could get closer...

"Boom!"

An explosion suddenly rang out, and a burst of flames struck a spot about five meters away from them.

Riley was startled.

He looked in the direction of the source of the flames.

Two Fire Dogs, noticeably larger than the others, were glaring at each other, their sharp teeth covered in flames.

The flames burning on their teeth were a basic inherited move of Fire Dogs – Flame Fang.

The staff member remained calm and explained, "These two Fire Dogs are about to evolve. They keep fighting each other to prove they are the strongest, but they always end up evenly matched."

While speaking, flames flared up again, striking a spot about 4 meters away from Riley.

Riley's scalp tingled.

The staff member pointed to a nearby thicket on the left and continued, "The sparks you saw just now were released by one of those Fire Dogs. It has quite a bit of power."

Riley looked in that direction and saw one of the Fire Dogs standing in front of another, looking like they were in an uneasy standoff.

As expected, the next moment, they started fighting.

The staff member provided real-time commentary, "They are rivals, fighting for the affection of a female Fire Dog. However, there won't be any outcome because the female Fire Dog prefers the other one."

Riley thought for a moment and asked, "Where is the female Fire Dog?"

Surely the female Fire Dog would have a better temperament than the males.

The staff member smiled and said, "It's the one that was cheering them on during their fight just now."

Riley was taken aback and looked again. Indeed, beside the two fighting Fire Dogs, there was a female Fire Dog with cleaner and softer fur, excitedly barking.

"Yah!"

"Yah!"

The staff member translated, "It should be shouting 'fight,' even though it doesn't like them. It enjoys them fighting for its attention."

Riley: "..."

On the other hand, Riley was feeling a bit overwhelmed. The staff member noticed that Riley's mother had been quiet all along and asked, "Do you have a Fire Dog in mind? I can bring it closer for you to have a better look."

Riley's mother shook her head and said, "I'm here with my son, and it's him who wants to contract a Fire Dog."

The staff member suddenly understood, "I see, your son had an independent awakening, right?"

Riley's mother looked pleased and asked, "How did you know?"

The staff member explained, "Today is Friday, and your son is still wearing the Aspertia Middle School's uniform, which indicates he should be in the 3rd grade. It's not yet time for the annual unified brain domains'awakening by the Beast Tamer League. If he hadn't awakened independently, he wouldn't be here to form a contract with a Spirit Beast with us now. Besides, it's not easy to get a leave from the school at such a crucial time."

All of the above was pure fabrication.

Her guess was merely based on the fact that a new student from Aspertia Middle School, who had independently awakened, had also visited here just three days ago, and she had been assigned to assist her in contracting a Spirit Beast.

But what was going on with Aspertia Middle School feng shui? How could two independent awakenings happen in the same year?

She was definitely going to discuss the possibility of buying a house in that school district with her husband when she got home.

Their son was already in the fourth grade of elementary school.

The smile on Riley's mother's face gradually froze.

Riley regained his composure and softly asked, "Mom, did you call my homeroom teacher today to request a leave?"

His mother forced a laugh and said, "Haha, how could I forget that?"

Riley continued, "I remember you requested leave for me yesterday, but today..."

"I requested a leave for you for two days straight!" His mother's voice unintentionally got louder.

Riley responded, "That's good, then."

He inwardly sighed.

He wondered if his mother had noticed that her voice tended to get louder when she was lying.
