12 Companion

2 Days later

"Nii San where are we going?" . Inosuke asked as he travelled with his arms behind his back.

"We have to find something intresting Inosuke. I think it may help both you and me become much stronger."

"Oh! Then I guess it's fine" Inosuke relented as soon as he heard about becoming stronger.

'My little brother is a Training Demon!!!' . I thought as my body visibly shuddered seeing Inosuke's widening warm smile in contrast to the cold ice covered forest around us.

Unknown to me Inosuke also though about me in the same way.

" So what are we trying to find?"

"It's a flower called Blue spider Lily."

"Oh is it tasty?"

"Don't know about that. But it may be?"

"So where will we find it?"

"Hmm the thing is that even I don't know where to find the Blue spider Lily but my guess is that we should probably look around for anything strange."

"Even though we have lived here for 5 years already we haven't explored most of the mountain let alone the other mountains."

" Well I guess that's true."

Screech

Me and Inosuke both turned towards the trees and got into a fighting stance as we heard a little screeching sound coming from the bushes.

Unexpectedly we saw a little ball of snow seperate from the snowy cover of the forest and moved towards us.

Inosuke unexpectedly ran towards it before I could stop him and started poking it wit a stick.

"Hey! Stop that Inosuke."

Inosuke suddenly jumped when the little ball of snow opened its mouth and tried to bite him.

"Oh it seems we found another wolf Inosuke and he doesn't seem to like you" . I said as I gently carassed the little wolf pup.

The wolf somehow seemed a lot more trusting towards me.

I suddenly felt the pup tugging on my leg as if asking me to follow him so I stood up and decided to follow it towards the bushed.

Inosuke seeing us move started to follow us.

We hadn't even walked for a single minute when I smelled the stench of blood in the air.

I turned towards the pup and seeing it so anxious I decided to pick him up in my hands and gently started to pet his head.

We walked for a few minutes before we came across a grotesque sight.

' It seems my nose needs a lot more training than I thought.'

In front of us lied a dead pack of wolves. There seemed to be a mother hugging her children while the little pups lied there still as rocks.

I wasn't even able to smell them due to the snow and must in the mountain.

The pup jumped from my hands and nuzzled his nose against his dead family while quietly whimpering and making pitiful sounds.

A black ball of fur suddenly moved from the dead pups and came towards the white pup.

'Oh! It seems there's another one who managed to survive but I'm sure they would be dead in a few hours due to the cold.'

I checked the other pups and they all seemed to be dead and bleeding from their mouths and ears while it was the same for the mother.

Inosuke suddenly moved towards the black pup startling us but instead of biting him like the white pup the black pup moved towards Inosuke on its own.

Inosuke gently picked the pup and carassed it's head. It seemed like the black one liked Inosuke while I felt a connection to the white one.

The white pup quietly moved towards me while I gently approached it and picked it into my hands again.

Feeling my warm body against it's cold fur the pup gently nuzzled against my chest and sobbed.

It seemed that it was sad for his family but was quite open towards me because of the wolf stench I gave off my body.

[ Host has found a companion creature capable of forming a contract with the host.]

[ Will the host like to accept the contract with the companion?]

I was slightly startled by the fact that the little guy in my arms was a creature capable of forming something like contracts.

I once again looked at the little ball of fur in my arms gently sobbing and without any hesitation accepted the contract.

[ Congratulations to the host for getting the first companion. The system has gifted the host with 'INVENTORY' for finding a companion ]

I was slightly happy for the gift but decided that exploring it could wait.

"Nii san can we keep them?"

Inosuke asked with a rarely seen kindness in his eyes and a gentle voice as he slowly carassed the black pup.

Inosuke rarely showed these kinds of emotions for anyone except me.

He must've felt that the wolves were unfortunate like us for having lost their mother and wanted to keep them.

"Sure. But first we must name these little guys."

"How does Fenris sound?" I asked as the white pup let out a happy bark.

'Uff.... Must protect' I thought as my body seemingly melted into the little ball of fur in front of me

"Okay I'll name the black one Cerberus."

' Huh? How did Inosuke decide on a name like that. I mean, I was a huge mythology nerd in my previous life but how does he know about these things?'

I was taken out of my thoughts as I suddenly felt Fenris shiver slightly due to the cold. Cerberus was nuzzling happily against Inosuke, seemingly content with his new name.

"Let's quickly bury the body of the rest of the wolves"

"Yeah." Inosuke said with a sad look on his face.

It took us a while to dig a hole wide enough to bury the wolf family. They looked like a mother gently carassing her children to sleep with their eyes closed.

Fenris and Cerberus both let out soft whimpers and said goodbye to their mother and brothers.

"Let's get out of here before it gets dark" I said as started walking back to the cave.

' It's not like I was sure of finding the Blue spider Lily. I mean Muzan couldn't find it even after searching for a thousand years but if I had to guess it should be around these mountains."

'Since Aoiba also found the flowers I'm sure Inosuke must've found something about the flowers in the original timeline. So most likely the flowers should be in mountains like these where demons don't enter. Those flowers were a bitch to Muzan and only grew during the Day effectively making our resident Miachel Jackson's army of Meat Eaters useless. Even Akaza couldn't find anything on the flowers.' I thought while chuckling at the fact that the immortal guy couldn't perfect his immortality because he was too prideful to make some Human subordinates. Also all of this wouldn't even be needed if Muzan could've kept himself from straight up butchering that Monk/Healer

'That Monk is also kinda sus. I'll have to look into him.' I thought while contemplating about thr future. I was brought out of my thoughts from a cute bark from Fenris who had his tail wagging.

"Who's a good boy. You are yes you are." I said while chuckling. I always wanted a wolfdog or husky in my previous life but it was hard for me to survive myself and now this life gave me one for free.

'I found this cute little guy here so I guess the universe paid me back for my efforts.' I thought as I carassed Fenris's head.

Unbeknownst to me I had made an eternal companion that day.
