2 Staying That Way

Ash rolled over and grunted. She turned off her blaring alarm clock and tried to ignore her pounding headache. Today was the first day of school. Ash hated the fact that every two or so years she had to change schools and get new friends, but at least this time she knew some people. As Ash got up, she did what she normally does. She took the dog out for a walk, then fed him, then fed the cats, and checked on her other animals, then got dressed. As she was eating breakfast, she looked through her inspirational quote of the day, and wrote 5 things down about how she felt about her day so far. As she finished eating, she brushed her hair and teeth then looked in the mirror.

Ash was a pretty girl with chocolate brown hair, frosty blue eyes and stood proudly at 5 feet and 1 inch. If she ever wore makeup, it make her face look weird, so she stayed with just lip-gloss on. She sighed as she brushed her waist-long brown hair out of her face. "I wish I was pretty.." She thought. Nobody looked at her the way they looked at other girls. She thought it was because of her personality, or maybe because her nose was always stuck in a book, but she could only come up with the idea that she wasn't as pretty as they were. Ash smiled fondly when she walked back into her bedroom and seen the picture of her and Christian together, he treated her like she was the only girl in the entire world.

Ash sighed. She would probably never speak to Christian again, yet her heart still belonged to him after all these years. She wondered if he had dated anyone recently and what he was doing as she packed her bag.

"OH MY GOD! ASH I MISSED YOU SO MUCH!" yelled Tahoe.

"Tahoe, don't yell please.... It'd bad enough that 15 people hugged me already... I don't need anyone else to notice I'm here...okay?" Ash sighed. It was only 9:15 am and people we're already crying because she had returned.

"Oops... here comes Eric" giggled Tahoe.

Eric was Ash's best-friend many years back. They ended up having feelings for each other before Ash met Christian. They ruined their friendship by dating, of course. Now they talk to each other occasionally on Snap-chat. Talking about Eric made Ash uncomfortable because her feelings were messy when it came to him.

"Hey Ash, long time no see." smiled Eric

'Yeah.." said Ash quietly.

"You're real short" Eric observed.

"I know" replied Ash.

"Well, let's go get your schedule.." Interrupted Tahoe.

*That is the only time she's useful* Thought Ash.
