Be calm and survive in the apocalypse

Waking up from my dream, I looked on my side and grabbed the steel bar tightly. I also touched my belt to see if I still have the gun I found yesterday.

What you think the police would be looking for me? Na man I promise you they won't.

2 weeks ago, I was resting in my home when all the world changed and went to shit. Checking the web and I found about the monsters , zombies and other horror creatures .

It was normal the first two days. My life wasn't that affected. Mom and dad still worked and my little sister still called me on phone everyday. But then it's like some people weren't vigilant and got bit by a zombie and infected most of the people.

My parents and sister are half the world apart, they confirmed they are safe but they can't comeback for me. As I am in my 20s, I told them to be safe and take care of Amelia, my 7 years old sister. Because my grandfather was an ex-military officer he could provide protection for us. But Me being in California for studies, well I got to survive on my own.

After a week from the A-day, i.e. the start of apocalypse my supplies ran out and I needed to go to the stores to get them.

Locals here have made groups among them. And because the infected came late people got a lot of information from the internet.

I also watched a few blogs about how to prepare for the doomsday.

After I streched a little bit I quietly exited.

At night the zombies named whisperer wakes up it hideous,thin,fast can percieve light and has great hearing. They are the reason most people keep quiet, turn off lights and sleep on tall buildings.

Normal day zombie are like the fiction ones no eyesight, use their hearing to locate the prey, very slow and die by brain damage.

After noticing no one in the hall in the second floor I quickly but quietly arrive at the stairs, but before I could reach the first floor I noticed the shadow of a zombie.

' damn, If I go down from here he will definitely hear the sound.' Even if I am making less sound but I can't learn everything in just few days.

I noticed another zombie about 7 metres apart from the previous one.

' If I kill the first one, I can go down safely but there a chance the other zombie could hear me killing him' taking a deep breath I walked slowly till there was only 2 metres of distance between me and the zombie.

To distract the 2nd zombie I threw a little stone and seeing him go to the sound made by the stone I relaxed a bit before tensing up again.

'Its not over yet' quietly walking forward just about a metre was left, the zombie noticed me and turned around making a growl but I already knew he could hear me.

Clenching the steel rod I slammed it on his face and killed him. 'huff' 'huff' look like I am not in great shape.'

By then the 2nd zombie already noticed the sound but I threw a metallic box to make loud sound to distract him while thinking 'Thank god he doesn't know how to differentiate between the sounds otherwise I am dead'. As I was leaving I quickly noticed few more zombies coming out.

'Look like I need to cheak the building before sleeping so that if by mistake I made a sound, I could atleast run'

After exiting the building, I started going to the direction of the stores.

I would have already reached them if not for a small zombie hoard blocking the road. Because of it I took a different route to it.

'Fu*k those leaders, can't it be just One type of zombie'.

Zombie hoard most of the time have a zombie leader, mostly enhanced zombie sometimes it can see, have extra strength, can run or if worse can heal. The worst are that have all of the above powers. I knew it because the seniors in the group communicated with another group and got information from them.

' Well no need to think about leaders because anyone can see them and take a different route.'

After carefully avoiding most zombie and killing a few I was ready to cheak the block for a safe place.

One of the few ideas I came up from the blogs, is to have a 'save', and to inspect.

**AFTER TRAVELLING QUIET A DISTANCE GO TO A TALL PLACE OR TOWER TO INSPECT THE SURROUNDING FOR HOSTILE.**

**IF YOU AREN'T IN A HURRY, AFTER INSPECTING FIND A PLACE WHERE YOU COULD STAY FOR FEW DAYS IN CASE OF EMERGENCY.**

I have been travelling for few hours, and it was again time to inspect the surrounding. After looking at my watch then at the sun I noticed it is already evening.

'I woke up late today, I just have almost 2 days worth of food. I should also check a building that is safe and easily accessible to me. just in case of emergency'

After looking around a bit I noticed a suitable house. 'hmm, well they have a first floor, the house isn't super big and expensive, but it is quiet ok. It also have a window on the first floor. The window isn't too large nor is it small so the light escape would be less. It also have a roof where I could climb to inspect.

After seeing from my binoculars I thought

'Well it doesn't look like it's broken, let's just go inside'. But before going in I checked outside the house for zombies.

After I tried to open the door, it didn't work.

'Thought so' just as I was about to think about how to break in. A light got reflected from the ground into my eyes and I shut them.

After opening my eyes, I noticed something shiny. It was hidden behind a flower pot so you couldn't see it.

Seeing the item I thought ' Damn, luck is on my side, should I ask for some more things, Na let's go inside'

Opening the door, and coming in I immediately noticed the shoe stand, there were a lady's and child's shoe.

'They are kept in the rack, and are formal type for parties and stuff. I am 80% sure the house should be empty.' I searched the house for zombies, after finding none I relaxed and released a deep breath. Coming to kitchen I noticed only candy and kid's food are eatable, 'Well they aren't here for two weeks so the food definitely gone bad'

I went upstairs and went in the first room ' This is definitely a child's room' the room accross was the lady I found a picture of them and thought 'She's a beauty alright' I closed the curtains and left a small space open so that one could see for inside but not from outside. Going on the roof, I lookout my binoculars and checked for zombies. Except for one or two littering around on my west there was a group. ' Thank God I am going east otherwise, I was fu*ked'.

Resting on the house for an hour I thought 'well let's kill a few and If I have time I would go to store, or I could search another house If not I will return back here'.

I went down and searched and killed any zombie I could find so they won't be a problem in my future return.

I was in the middle of a road, it was mostly empty. About a distance you could see a mountain, daydreaming I thought 'I think there was a military base in the mountain, I should go some times' my thoughts paused when I heard a whirring sound, looking up I saw a helicopter, I didn't shout for help instead I was about to run ' you kidding me with that loud sound every zombie will be coming after it'.

Just as I turned the helicopter crashed.
