1 Deception

Zhang Mi, there was a deep emptiness within her, despite being surrounded by great wealth, there was no one to share it with. Sitting alone in the spacious luxurious living room, listlessly looking around her at nothing. The maids, butlers and personal drivers kept walking around the affluent home. From time to time they would cast a questioning look her way, after a while it became very unbearable to stand the gazes being sent her way.

For her, time had stopped the moment, she walked in on her boyfriend of over six years in bed with his co-worker. Even though she never spoke about it, but some of the staff working in her house suspected that she was being abused by her then boyfriend. None dared to voice the concern they may have regarding that.

Every day was a torture, dragging on and on, she just wanted to lock herself somewhere where no one could find her, away in some deep dark place. Tears? She had cried herself to sleep many a times, to the point that she felt there were no tears left to cry anymore. The pure agony was digging deep into her bones, at times she would break into a cold sweat each time the memory flashed across her mind.

He was her first! How could he do that to her?! Those thoughts kept circling repeatedly. Nothing made sense anymore. The woman in question that he cheated on her with was of average looks compared to her, how dare he humiliate her in front of someone else, a person that was not even fit to walk in the circle she moved in?!

Yes, she endured the days when he would vent his anger and frustration from work on her, slapping her repeatedly, on one occasion when he was really drunk, he forced her to have sex with him. Yet, she forgave him, in her heart she felt that he would change, that she could mold him to become a better person. Who would have thought that it would never be?

Was enduring all of that, all for nothing? Did he think it was over because he said so?

What was the point in living? or having a beating heart in the chest? or breathing air in?

She gave him everything, there was nothing he asked for that she wouldn't do, even if it cost her dearly she would still go ahead and do it because he was the one person she considered as the love of her life.

Sadly, it seems he did not feel even an iota of love in return towards her. Despite all the things she heard about him seeing someone else, she refused to believe it, until she the day she decided to surprise him by showing up on his birthday. Just thinking about it, caused her pale face to flush a deep red in embarrassment. Why did I have to show up uninvited? If I had called ahead, none of this would have occurred. She wanted to cry but tears refused to fall from her eyes.

The young woman felt dead on the inside, almost like a living corpse, staring unseeingly ahead. What made it even more painful was that someone had tipped the press about what was going on and on seeing the news it was mostly bashing her and the dynasty she had built with her sweat and blood.

The others present in the room were unaware of the turbulent thought going through the mind of their young miss, all they could she was a pale faced fragile young woman with bloodshot eyes, her hair was a mess, even the cloth she had on looked so rumbled as though it had never seen the face of an iron. Her gaunt appearance, made her look like a waif rather than someone that was of importance.

I made you Feng Duan, you will not leave me, you hear?! You most definitely would not leave me! I will find you and....

That was the last thought that crossed her mind, her vision kept going in and out, until she finally blacked out. Faintly she could hear voices screaming for an ambulance to be called. That was the last thing she heard before entering a world of pitch-black darkness.
