Firefighter

[Poll- no romance or romance after 50 chapters]

I would like to remind you that this was weeks ago time, as mentioned in the previous chapter. It could be confusing but bear with me. (I myself forgot it was a week ago timeline and wrote half a para explaining how I will fuck the plot for my fic, then remembered I did not fuck it and this is a flashback)

"Let's just take it slow, okay? I got the board right where we want them."

"Great." Tony doesn't talk to the hoard of reporters.

"See ya inside. Lots to talk about." He heads inside.

Bruce stood in the corner, scrolling his Instagram reel section in public.

Batman, however, was looking through one of the contact lenses, a polarising lens with an altered application, to use his phone publically to dive into matters of investigation and alerts, controlled by his left eye's iris.

The prompt on his hidden, two-faced mobile was of the mention of Christine Everhart, and some data that interested him mentioning Afgan tows and Stark Industries, something along those lines and enough to be a viable source for him.

"Looks like we do this the old fashion way, milady, let me bring you a drink." He leaves his company of Neit to charge toward the bar, only to return with a drink while she was approaching Tony Stark.

Coming from the back he got a quick glance at some pictures, meant to be passed privately to Tony, in the hands of Christine.

"Here you have it," he passes the drink to Neit while putting his hand on her slight waist.

Which was not welcomed as it was when they entered the hall at the start with her.

"Mr. Wayne, I do not like little surprises such are these here." She distanced herself with eyes demanding answers.

"Oh! sh#t." He quickly shot drink all the alcohol in his hands showing his hesitation and surprise." Ah- Pardon my language miss..."

"Christine, Christine Everhart, Vanity Fare magazine."

"Miss Everhart, pardon my rudeness, I had you for someone else, my date actually. Please do not let this out or I may lose what little chances I had with her." He delivered with style. "Now that I see, you share an impeccable similarity to her,"

"Ah, you confused me for my twin sister, not very different are we, sis?" She did what she was asked not to, replying to him well within to reach the ears of the approaching Neit. (for those who forgot, she is her personal secretary)

"You found yourself quite a job, sis."

"That I did, Mr. Wayne here is quite determined and hard-working CEO, one and would love to have for its head." She stated, obviously shooting arrows from her eyes, knowing of her sister's literal fuck ups with the Stark CEO.

"Wow, twins, quite some company you have their pal." Tony takes the drink in his hand, only to get a quick glance at the beautiful backless dress Pepper had been wearing, to follow the course to her secretary about the gift she had bought on his behalf of himself.

"Well I would leave you two to your own account, Ms.Neit, you are free to do whatever with this, just come early for work tomorrow." Bruce passes the company credit card as his secretary blushed at the offer, not at who was giving the card but at the card itself, while Bruce left the hot fuming pair, leaving with a nervous chuckle.

But just two steps forward the nervousness washed off, as he pulled out his phone from his pocket to check the information it had gathered in the small time period when he had Tony in his range.

The public screen hosted various pictures taken during the duration of the party, selected and uploaded on his social media while the polarized screen shared the pictures of the missiles, probably a contribution of Christine, the journalist, with the photos of victorious insurgents, the Ten Rings insignia on their vehicles, clutch Stark machine guns, and RPGs. Behind, a town burns, bodies strewn. A photo of civilians being marched in rows, pre-execution, Stark weapons trained at their backs.

And some cat videos from Neit, his secretary's smartphone.

The main act of attention was his probe being warded off, which had minimal information gained from Stark's. Where his initial attempt had somehow weaseled through the defenses of firewalls and cyber securities in the device of the tech genius, after which it was thrown off the trail and from the system guiding Mr. Stark's secrets.

This meant either there is a team of data scientists working 24/7 to safeguard the Stark CEO's device and by extension his personal data, or...

'The more likely chance of him having an advance A.I., a private endeavor as it was not publicized as a product by the likes of the CFO Stane.'

Bruce dismantled his smartphone bathing his mobile with alcohol for any prints, throwing off the more common parts such as the battery and the main device of the window to meet the seabed below, while the memory chip was disintegrated to ash, the data being safe at his private server never to be used again, only to have two backups of the same.

Bruce rejoins the gathering, only to have a man with a receding hairline and a badge follow him to the drinks bar.

.

While Neit ad Christine was having the time of their lives, Christine was concerned about the 90,000$ credit card bill his twin had just delivered to her boss, while Neit was going on and on for more dollars to flow out of her hands.

"Won't he be angry?"

"When he passed me this card, he gave me reign of it, if I spend more than the limit, I would be immediately notified as I was once in a business deal when I was in the UK."

"You are having the time of your life huh?"

"Well, I have been better."

"Really?" Christine smiles and focuses on her sister's blushing cheeks.

"Nah, he is the best, if not for his nervous demeanor around girls, I once thought he has some woman fear or something."

.

.

Bruce leaves the ballroom in his car, leaving the party to rejoin Batman's company in his nightly outings.

After his meet-up with Shield being a not-so-concerning meeting, Bruce perked up for any slip-ups or mishaps from his side, to bring out the reason a spy organization's top command approached him in a public gathering.

He noticed his need for an assistant for Batman's activities again as he had to mark his presence again at his home, to come back the same distance he had to travel and trace back his path here, instead of letting someone else drive and make a good and trusted alibi at the Wayne building.

He stepped on his gas to race down the road.

"Tony don't be so naive "

"Naive? I was naive before, when I was growing up and they told me don't ever cross this line, this is how we do business. In the meantime, we're double-dealing under the table. We don't even deserve to represent the United States."

" Tony, you're a child !"

"You don't believe I can turn this company around, do you --?"

"You've got about as much control over things as a child riding in the backseat of your father's car with a red plastic steering wheel in your hand."

"Maybe I'll just get out of the car."

"You're not even allowed in the car. I'm the one who's filing the injunction against you." Tony is shell-shocked. Then, he goes after Obadiah. They jostle and Obadiah backs off as Tony goes ballistic. The paparazzi snap photos.

"It's the only way I could protect you, It's for the greater food of the company."

"Sir-" The sound of Jarvis in the background.

"This is going to stop." Tony pays no heed to the warnings of his butler, walking down to his Audi.

"Sir- we have been breached." This surprised Tony to no limits, immediately suspecting Obie, but surprising having the cool to investigate the attack.
