4 Halloween

~~~~~ Narrator's Pov ~~~~~
In the next few months, he tried to understand what is being talked around him, he managed to understand quite a few words. But there was still a long way before his understanding gets perfect.
Three months after his birth, his aunt gave birth to a girl named Daphne. Besides learning the language, he tried to decipher the meaning behind the connection he was feeling with his relatives. He already ranked them from strongest to weakest. His cousin Daphne being the strongest, next was his father and aunt, the least being with his mother. Since he could feel the blood pumping from their hearts, he was almost sure it had something to do with their blood. Still, he wasn't sure what was different with it.
His first birthday was just a simple celebration. Even though they were one of the oldest noble families in the wizarding world, the time wasn't appropriate for making grand moves or getting the attention over their family.
"Baby, I'm sorry for not being able to give you a better birthday. But, all of us here love you and prepared lots of presents for you." Helen started to help him open his presents one by one. There were only the Greengrass family members present at the birthday.
"It's all because of this war, will it ever end? I'm really worried for Daphne and Dean growing in this kind of chaotic times." Evelyn interjected, while looking at Daphne in her arms with worry.
"Dark Lord is just at the peak of his power. It is better this way to stay low and not attract his attention." Joseph kept a serious expression. He was already being pressured by his death eaters to join his side.
"Dear, you are not associating with any of the sides, right? Please don't, just think of our family. I don't want to lose anyone from my family to some stupid war." Helen tried to dissuade his husband from any kind of involvement in this war.
"No, I will not. Don't worry about such a topic. Just leave it all to me. I will find a way to stay neutral as long as possible."
"What do you mean by 'as long as possible'?'
"Helen, It's not a time nor place to discuss this. Let's not sour our moods." Joseph put a stop to the topic.
31 October 1981, Halloween Night
"Waaahhh. Noooo." little Daphne was running while pulling Dean with her. She was trying her best to run away from the scary looking monster. But she didn't forget about Dean, she was trying to save him with her as well. Behind them was a flying monster, it's shining eyes and mount was threatening to swallow both of them. After a long run, she finally heard her mothers voice.
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
Few minutes earlier,
There was a table full of delicious looking dishes. Just looking at them would make anyone wanna indulge themselves in, even if they were full. Around the table, there were 4 people. While they were eating, their gaze would sometimes land on two toddlers. They were playing together. While the girl was dressed in a cute looking dress, the boy was dressed in a little suit. If you looked closely, you could see the slightly older one taking care of the little girl. When she would lose her footing, he would be there to stop her from falling.
While sitting in the table, Oliver took out his wand and started teasing the two of them. He made the Jack-o'-lantern fly before sending after them.
After a while, Evelyn decided to stop the chase. "Come on, stop is Oliver. She is getting scared. Even though Dean looks fine, he must be scared too."
"Alright, fine. But wasn't she just so cute? She didn't forget to save Dean too." they just laughed at how cute they were. After the chase, Daphne came running, before seeking refuge in her mother's bosom.
Dean kept looking at his aunt's still flat belly. Evelyn misunderstanding his gaze as wanting him to be hugged as well, took him in her arms too.
'Another one is on the way.' Dean thought to himself, his lips slightly curling into a smile.
Joseph Greengrass was enjoying his morning coffee. Across the table, he could see his wife trying to feed his sleepy looking son. He picked up the daily prophet from the table while sipping at his coffee. Suddenly, he sprayed all his coffee with a shocked face. The cause of this was the headline, 'Fall Of The Dark Lord'.
"Dear, what happened?" Helen was surprised by him. Only in few occasions will he show such a behavior.
He just kept re-reading the article, just to make sure he wasn't reading it wrong. Finally, when he was done, he looked at his wife and said: "He is gone."
"Who? Just say it clearly." Helen was getting impatient.
"The dark lord. In the daily prophet, it says that he went after the Potters. He killed both Lily and James, but for some reason, their son survived. It is hard to believe, but... he is not someone that would leave his target stay alive." He explained to his wife.
"Why did he go after the Potters?" after a bit of silence she raised a question. Although, she knew both Lily and James, they weren't that close.
"It seems to have something to do with a prophet involving him and the Potter's. I don't know if it is true that he is fallen. It isn't that easy to kill him. Let's wait for a while and see." He hoped that he is dead.
"Who?" asked Dean, tilting his head to the side.
"You don't have to know baby, just keep eating." Helen just pushed another spoon into his mouth.
