7 Chapter 7
The walls of the library are filled with books. Some useful some useless. There are novels, encyclopedias, comic books and more. My parents created this place before they died. I like to come here, take a book and just read a book for hours without cares of the world. It reminds me of times my parents were still there. We just sat here and read books together.
I feel my eyes start to tear up. I really miss them. They are not the best parents, often they do not come home for days because of their jobs. But they never forget about me, always calling to see if I am okay. In the end, I lost them to a traffic accident.
«Let's find a book about birds.»
I began to search the library. After 10 minutes I found a book about birds and started to read the part about wings.
The shape of a bird's wing is important for producing lift. The increased speed over a curved, larger wing area creates a longer path of air. This means the air is moving more quickly over the top surface of the wing, reducing air pressure on the top of the wing and creating lift. Also, the angle of the wing deflects air downwards, causing a reaction force in the opposite direction and creating lift.
After I have an idea about what type of wing to create I put the book in its place and return to my experiment room. I want to create wings with a wingspan of 6 meters. I want it to be crafted like real wings with feathers and all. To do that I need the help of «Memory Palace». I can not calculate this much information without its help.
It took me 1 day just to create the image of the wings I want. When I finished I started to imagine making wings a reality. It was really slow. It took me one hour to finish the wings. But before I tried to fly I realized the image of the wings in the «Memory Palace» started to glow. I released the wings and focus on the image. After one second I have wings again.
«So this is some kind of magic slot? I can use it to store magic takes a long time to activate.»
With some experiments, I find out I can only store 3 magic. One for each tier of knowledge or mana. I am not sure which one. I can find out later now it is time to fly.
I did not start flying with the wings instead I mobilize wind to carry me to fly. I did this because wings are harder to control so it is more dangerous. I do not want to injure myself before learning healing magic.
When I get used to flying with the wind I started to try flying with the wings. I used wings of the wind magic and flapped my wings. But it looks like I flapped my wings a little too fast. I almost hit the wall. It is a good thing I trained with the wind so I can stop myself in time.
This time I flap my wings slowly to get used to flying with the wings. I started to fly a little faster than running. When I get used to flying straight I started to make turns. At first, I did this with the help of wind. Then I did it only with wings. When I get used to it again I started to make sharp turns. It was the same progress. First with the help of the wind than with the wings.
I can not fly faster here as my area is not enough to do it. So I choose to learn utility magics like invisibility, eagle eye and mage hand.
