Last day

A man could be seen walking down a street, holding a bag of chips in his hands. The street appeared to be crowded. Of course he was used to this since he lived in a city that was crowded by many people.

The man appeared discouraged, sad, mad, or maybe even disappointed. He has every right to feel these feelings since he was just fired from his job. He was stabbed by what he thought was a friend, but realized too late that he was just being used by his so-called "Friend" to climb up the work hierarchy.

This was a man who lost everything to a simple mistake that he made. The mistake was giving him "friend" a drive that had all his hard work on, thinking that his friend would help look over it. Boy was he wrong.

The man looked around and saw people getting into cars that could drive by themselves and cars that could float off the ground. Cars this man wanted.

But sadly his dream of getting a car and living a lavish life was gone. All his hard work is gone. All that he had left was an apartment that he could only stay in for a month until he ran out rent payment and a couple of bucks in his pocket.

Sigh*

The man sighed out as he only saw about $10.56 in his pockets. The man began to walk once again as he continued to look at the people smiling on the street hoping that he could one day be like these people. Happy and having a lavish lifestyle.

As the man continues to walk he notices a bar to his right that he has never seen before. "That

wasn't here before" said the man as he walked into the bar.

The sign outside the bar had a big V hanging in front of it.

Upon entering he saw a man wearing a bartenders uniform standing behind a table. As the man looks around he notices that there was no one here but the bartender.

"Welcome to V, what would you like?" the bartender said as he finished cleaning a wine cup.

The man began to walk near the counter and sat down, "What can I get with ten bucks here?" said the man waiting to be disappointed.

"You can either get the lava cocktail or the ice flower juice" said the bartender as he looked at the man with a smile.

The man weirded out by the names thought about leaving, but thought he might as well buy a drink before leaving.

"I would like to have the Ice flower juice please" said the man. "One ice flower juice coming right up" said the bartender as he turned around for a couple of seconds and turned back around again the man. In the hands of the bartender was a blue drink in a wine glass with a white a blue flower floating on it.

"Huh that was quick" said the man as he grabbed the drink from the bartender's hand nicely.

The man began to shake the drink that he was given just so the alcohol spreaded out a bit more in the drink.

As the man took a sip of the drink he was hit by different flavors of fruit such as strawberry, lemons, peaches, oranges, and blueberry. Though the flavors might have been different they all had one thing in common. "It's sweat" said the man as he looked at the drink with an astonished look on his face.

"Try biting the flower," said the bartender.

Upon listening to the bartender the man grabbed the flower from the cocktail and bit into it.

He was hit by a sensation that he hoped to have felt when he looked at the people on the street. He felt happy.

When the man looked at the bartender he noticed the bartender was smiling the entire time he was there.

"Hey, why are you smiling?" said the man. "Oh sorry if it's freaking you out or disturbing, it's just that it's been a long time since I have seen any customers here and I enjoy seeing some of my customers smile."

The man wasn't weirded out when he heard the bartender reply, but found it reasonable since he saw no one here when he walked in. The man looked back at his drink and took small apartments savoring the taste he got when drinking it.

The more he drank the drink the more sweat it became and the more he bit into the flower the more happy he was. When he finished the drink he had a full smile on his face as if he just had the best day ever.

"Hehe" giggled at the man as he saw the smile on his face. "This is the reason I became a bartender, just to see that smile on people's faces. And seeing people smile with joy and happiness makes me smile as well."

"Hahaha man I wish I had a job like you since you are happy" said the man as he was happy.

"Well you can if you want to, but it comes with a price" said the bartender as he grabs the man's wine glass.

"And what would the price be?" said the man as he was still happy.

"Well you would leave everything in this world behind and go into a new world. One that is sort of like this world, but way different" the man hearing was still smiling and happy.

"If that's the price then I'll take it" said the man with a smile on his face.

"Ok then come back here at 11:59 am. Then I'll take you to that new world where you will be happy" said the bartender as he handed the man a card.

"Ok then I'll come back tomorrow" said the man as he grabs the card from the man and puts it into his pocket.

"Oh and here for the drink" said the man as he grabbed ten bucks from his pocket and set it on the table.

"Don't worry it's in the house" said the bartender as he pushed the money back to the man.

"Ok then" said the man while smiling still as he grabbed the ten bucks back.

The man waves goodbye to the bartender as he walks out of the bar and walks to his apartment.

As the man reached the outside of the bar he had one thought in his mind "what a nice guy."

The next day the man wakes up and gets struck by a sudden headache "Ah my head hurts so much. Did I drink alcohol or something yesterday? '' thought the man as he tried to remember what happened yesterday.

As he tried to remember, he remembered getting betrayed by his close friend at work and losing his job in the process. He then remembered walking into a bar and drinking a single glass of alcohol.

"That cup was small, but the drink made me have such a bad headache," said the man as he shook his head.

The man remembered that he was given a business card by the bartender and was told to come back at 11:59. The man thought that the bartender was offering a job.

The man then looks at his alarm clock and notices the time 11:47.

The man looked blankly at the clock at first and thought that at first "I don't need a job, I already have one." The man lay back down and was about to fall asleep.

"Wait I don't have a job" said the man as he finally remembered him getting fired and losing his job.

The man gets off his bed and runs to his closet to get dressed. After choosing what to wear he quickly put it on.

Once he finished getting dressed, he looked like a professional business man, he ran outside and began to run to the bar.

As he was running he was being glanced at by several people nearby as if he was a crazy man.

The man finally reached the bar and checked a nearby clock which showed 11:56 on it. "I made it" said the man as he opened up the door.

As he walked into the bar he saw it as empty as before but the bartender standing in the same old spot as yesterday holding a rag in his hand.

"Oh so you have made your decision" said the bartender as he put down the rag.

"Yes I choose to accept the offer" said the man as he walked to the counter and sat down.

"Ok great, first things first" said the bartender as he snapped his finger. The door that was wide open then shuts violently. The sound of the door closing like that scared the man a bit.

"So let me ask you a question. Do you believe powers are real" said the bartender as he walked around the counter towards the man.

"I wouldn't say that they don't exist, but I don't believe it would go to the point where people could fly or go invisible" said the man as the bartender stood behind him.

"What if I were to tell you that they do exist, it's just that you weren't in the right world, would you go there or not?" Hearing what the bartender said, the man was confused.

"Let me show you what I mean" the bartender's hand was then covered in cracks and out of those cracks bits of ice were coming out.

The sight freaked the man out, seeing the bartender's hand now creating ice "this is what you would call a superpower here correct."

The man nodded his head and the bartender smiled before saying "and now let's go back to my question, would you go or not."

The man now realizing the meaning of the question thought for a bit. "I would go there," said the man resolutely.

The bartender's hand then stopped showing cracks and the ice disappeared from his hand. "Then it's a deal, you shall go to the new world and work there as a bartender if that is ok with you."

Hearing the bartender's question the man asked one of his own "will I receive powers if I go there."

"Yes you would since it isn't nice to send a member of the business to a dangerous world with nothing to protect himself with."

"Ok, can you tell me about the world" asked the man. The bartender looked at the man for a bit before smiling.

"The world is sort of like a hero and villain world, having powers there isn't out of the norm but is also rare to get one. Heroes there are like the one's in the comics, trying to protect innocent lives and uphold justice. While villains there are either fighting for their own greed or goals."

"So which one will I be"

"You will be a villain of course" said the bartender.

The man looked at the bartender with a blank stare "Why a villain?"

"You see it's sort of our business, we are basically a bar that serves to villain, thugs, and other groups like that. It also matches our logo as it is a giant V.

"But don't worry you will be given a new body and a power that is suitable for you to use in the new world. And of course we will send you to an area where villains are at, but hero's don't usually go to."

Hearing the bartender's response the man was about to refuse until he remembered how his life was in this world of his. Remembering these things and how he had no one left in this world that cared about him or would help him. He could only think of how this new world will be a new beginning for him.

"Ok I accept" said the man with no hesitation in his voice. "That's good now all you have to do is shake my hand and the deal is done" the bartender's hand then was covered in cracks and the letter V appeared on the palm of his hand.

The man took his hand out and shook the bartender's hand.

As he touched his palm his head began to feel woozy and he felt like he would pass out.

Then his mind drifted into darkness.
