PROLOGUE

Deep within the forest grounds, the gentle rustling of leaves could be heard. a soft mist floated down unceasingly from the sky; the smell of damp forestry could be smelt.

An unfamiliar huntsman treat upon the mountain tracks, hoping to find some game. however, after walking a while, he seemed to be lost.

Round and round, he suddenly found that he couldn't get out of the forest.

Feeling panicked, the man looked around for landmarks and tread forward cautiously, however, after walking for a good few minutes, he realised that he had come across the same landmark as he had initially started with.

He had been going around in a circle.

Helplessness overcame him as he sat down on a stone nearby. he realised what it was.

He was trapped in a matrix.

Although he was only a huntsman, he had heard of these before and knew they weren't set up by ordinary cultivators.

"Sir Huntsman, are you lost?"

Shuddering, the huntsman jumped up and looked around in search for the source of the voice. However, there was no one nearby. The idea of ghosts wasn't too far-fetched in this case.

"Sit Huntsman, there's no point in looking around. You won't be able to find me."

The woman's voice floated through the misty landscape, making the hairs on the huntsman's neck stand. Seeing that the man didn't speak, the woman continued.

"Shall I take you out then?"

"I-I… Yes… please take me out." The huntsman stuttered slightly before agreeing.

Seeing that he didn't put up any resistance to the idea, the woman made her move. The falling mist suddenly stopped falling as if frozen in time; within a moment, the mist moved as if breathing and started flowing in a certain direction.

By the time the huntsman realised what was happening, he was already following the flow of the mist.

The time it took to reach the outer perimeter of the forest wasn't long, and before the huntsman realised it, the flowing mist around him had already dissipated, and remained within certain areas of the forest.

Feeling lucky to have survived and met a sympathetic cultivator, the huntsman quickly left after leaving saying thanks.

"Master, there was no need for you go out of you way to do that. I could've easily solved this." as male wearing all black with his face completely covered with a black mask spoke, the subtle sound of a blade being drawn could be heard.

"Min," the woman softly laughed "if I had, there wouldn't be any huntsman left to help."

The male didn't speak, but instead another female spoke instead.

"Min you're such a fool, after following Miss for so long you still don't know her style?" she gloated as though she knew better.

"Shui, don't think you're any better than Min." the woman laughed, "And Shui, how many times have I told you, don't call me Miss!"

Shui froze after hearing her Master's words and bowed her head.

"Min*don't think I don't see you smirking!" Shui said lowly through gritted teeth.

As the two bickered, the woman gently smiled and her eyes curved into elegant crescents. Leaning back into the window frame, she looked out into the dense bamboo forest before her, the steaming tea sitting in her hands.

It had been 3 years already.

3 years since she had died and reincarnated in her new homeland.
