Factions

Youkai- a group of various species of supernatural beings native to Asia. They are divided between the eastern yokai and the western yokai. Youjutsu is a form of magic they commonly possess but they may have any number of abilities depending on their exact race.

Eastern Yokai- Located in Japan and led by Yasaka, a nine-tailed fox they are comprised of mythical beings whose tales have circled around Japanese culture since ancient times.

Western Yokai- Based in China, They are led by Nurarihyon, who takes the name of his race. They have a great variety of members from japanese yokai to dragon subspecies. Due to this they are more like a collections of groups led rather that the more unified and less diverse Eastern Yokai.

Devils- a group of beings created by Lucifer and Lilith that live in the underworld. Generally considered evil and excessively prideful by most races, they are led by the Four Great Satans and 72 Pillar families. Their abilities vary from devil to devil depending on bloodline, but in general all devils are able to summon bat wings for flight, use demonic power, and understand almost any language. The also all hold a weakness to light and holy objects although it can be overcome when their strength reaches a certain level. Their appearance can range from human-like appearances to monstrous forms and with the introduction of evil pieces, almost any race can become a devil.

Four Great Satans- Leaders of the devil race given the last name of the deceased founders and original rulers. They are currently Sirzechs Lucifer, Ajuka Beelzebub, Serafall Leviathan, and Falbium Asmodeus. Their power is said to be the peak of devil kinds strength.

Angels- servants of the biblical god and led by the four great Four Great Seraphs. They reside in heaven. As the most accepted race by humankind, the have far reaching influence through the christian church. All angels are capable of using weaponized light that causes great harm to devils, growing a number of white wings for flight determined by their power and understanding languages as devils do. Uniform in appearance, all angels have green eyes, blonde hair and a golden halo of light above their head.

Four Great Seraphs- are the four strongest angels and the leaders of heavens armies. They are Gabriel, Raphael, and Uriel with the Archangel Michael at their head. Each seraph is able to summon twelve white wings.

Fallen Angels- are ones that have lost god's grace. Led by the Grigori, they possess the same abilities as regular angels. Unlike regular angels, their wings appear black when summoned and they lack a halo. Their appearance also shows far greater variety than Angels, but in general, they have black and purple eyes.

Grigori- is an organization most fallen angels join after their fall. Led by Azazel the organization focuses on researching sacred gears and the recruitment of their holders. Other leaders include Shemhazai, Baraqiel, Kokabiel, Armaros, Sahariel, Penemue, and Tamiel.

Items or Artifacts

Sacred Gear- Artifacts created by the god of the bible for humanity. Granted at birth, they are bestowed on only those who are at least partially human. Each one bestows powers to the wielder in proportion to the wielders strength of body and strength of will. The strongest of wielders can achieve a state called balance break which vastly increases their power. Among the sacred gears the top 13 are unique and classified as Longinus.

Divine Dividing- Sacred Gear housing the White Dragon Albion. It's able to halve the power of any foe its wielder touches and adds same amount to the wielder's reserves. It also enables flight.

Evil Pieces- a set of 15 chess pieces, excluding the king piece, created by Ajuka Beelzebub with the ability to reincarnate other being into devils after the great war devastated their species. Each piece offers a unique way to boost the reincarnated devils powers. The strength of a being determines if they can be made into a devil and how many pieces must be used to make them one. Each piece is a one time use item that will not be reusable even if the devil it was used on dies. Awarded to high class devils on their appointment to that rank or 12th birthday, whichever comes last.

Senjutsu- literally translated as Sage Arts, is the ability to control life force/Chakra/Ki/Chi/Spiritual energy in themselves, others, and the world around them.

Youjutsu**- literally translated as Demon Arts or Monster Arts, is a method of spell casting used primarily by youkai using spirit energy.

Touki- An ability characterized by coating the outside of one's body in ki/lifeforce. It increases offensive and defensive strength as well as increasing speed. Usable by people who practice Senjutsu or who have trained their body to an extreme extent.

**In cannon there is nothing saying that youjutsu and senjutsu are or are not connected, however, besides Sairourg Baal, every other senjutsu user has been a youkai. It led me to believe that unlike unnatural beings like devils, angels, or vampires that were created, Youkai were created by nature and inherently better at sensing life. An example supporting this would be Sun Wu Kong who was born from a magic stone on a mountain and is considered a master at both senjutsu and youjutsu. In other words, Fanfic Logic.
