The wrong target

The icy sect master wasn't able to get affected, just like Xin Feng wasn't able to as well. She was completely resistant to mind tricks at such level, which was probably why she had shown a cold demeanor before when she dealt with the monster that they met at their travel to the Divine sect. At the moment, she was standing a few feet behind the two. She heeded the suggestion of the Great elder, and together with Hua Mei and Xin Feng, she hastened to get behind the Great elder.

The Great elder began to recite some scriptures when the three were behind him. What the Great elder recited was a mental attack that lifts spirits off of a possessed body. Unfortunately, it was a charm that affected them with hypnosis. So, even if the charm was powered with dark- also known as yin energy, it would still not get affected by the yang energy.

All of a sudden, different swords appeared vertically around the group of charmed ones. What's unique about the swords, was that they had classic bells in the open area that would've normally been the flat side of the sword. Each bell was moving at its own pace, giving different ringing noises. The ones that were within the circle couldn't pass through the swords and were shrieking from the annoying sound the bells made. The bells began to shake even faster, and at the same time the circle of swords started spinning around them while going faster with each second. Visible waves of sound could be seen within the spinning circle of swords, and they kept increasing until every person within the circle were knocked out.

Xin Feng looked at the people that were knocked out and had their nose and ears bleeding. When he saw the method used to put them asleep, he couldn't help recalling the painful experience he had once been through. In front of those unconscious people stood an overseer of the Seven Soaring sect. It was the number one ranked overseer who was symbolized as the sword's intent.

"They should be oka-" The overseer couldn't even finish his sentence, because an attack came after him all of a sudden. Fortunately, with his battle experience, he was able to avoid the attack in in time. Although he was able to sense the attack in time, he still couldn't parry it. This made it possible for the enemy to change his attack in succession and follow his first attack with another. A deep wound was made at the overseer's waist with a dagger that looked as if made with blood.

"I almost forgot about you…" It was ExE who had returned to take care of a nuisance that could disrupt his plan.

"Quite the display of power, honestly… But not this time."

"I shall put you to an end, before you put my plans to foul again!" ExE wanted to control the weaker blood cells of the overseer to throw him away, but he couldn't find any. In anger, he proceeded with a kick to the stomach, before floating upwards.

Meanwhile in the background, the great elder advised the three to flee to his sect and notify the supreme masters of a calamity. He would help Duso Wen fight, and he would try to win as much time as possible for the three. ExE didn't care about the three insignificant beings fleeing away, and continued activating his next ability. He still didn't budge when the Great elder was about to attack, which resulted in him having his skin burned away till his bones were visible. It was all worth it to him though, because his body was nothing but an avatar, and his upcoming ability would increase his powers by bounds.

The great elder was surprised when his vigilance was for naught. He used his most powerful attack to take care of ExE, and was able to do a critical damage to him because he didn't put on any resistance. He had wanted to make the most of the given opportunity, which was why he used most of his power. His choice was the right one, because ExE was already in a state of incapability after his powerful attack.

The great elder still didn't want to take any chances, which was why he yelled out another verse of his scriptures. Three yellow glowing doves flew peacefully in the direction of ExE's back, and at the same time Duso Wen threw his own attack as well. Three phantoms of doves and swords that were powerful enough to instant kill nascent stage cultivators, headed for ExE. A loud clang was heard when their attacks connected, and a lot of dust was released in the air due to the powerful collision.

When the dust had lowered down, the figure of a stronger ExE was seen by the two. The collision wasn't because their attacks had touched a strong bone, but because of the powerful force of ExE's stronger aura. The force of a mere aura was able to block off their quick attacks like it was nothing. That was the difference between a cultivator who was about to become an ascended, and an actual deity.

The two dropped on their knees, baffled. It was already challenging before for them to fight ExE, and now with the massive gap, it was near impossible.

"Yes! Despair!"

As ExE's was mocking them, the fire inside their heart lit up again. They stared furiously at his figure, full with killing intent. Duso Wen roared, before he pulled out his sword and charged in like a bull.

"Soaring dragons of the heavenly swords!" He yelled out while cleaving with his sword.

Nineteen swords were poking through space in the sky, while three long dragons circled ExE. The Great elder had already taken a great distance from the fight, and had switch his role into a supportive one to boost Duso Wen's attacks.

When Duso Wen cleaved down his sword, one of the dragons strangled ExE without getting affected by the aura. What followed after were the swords in the sky that were already pointing at ExE. They all struck the aura, chipping it off till it was weak enough to go through it and stab the enemy. ExE was able to break his confinement at the critical moment, and was managed to knock away most of the swords that were coming after him.

In the end of the sword rampage, he had a few scars. Still, Duso Wen wasn't finished. He closed in the large gap between them, and followed with a forty-five degrees slash upward before finishing it with a wide sweep. Each dragon followed together with a swing of the sword, increasing the damage. The last dragon didn't follow the sword though, but came from above to bite on ExE's head. They were annoying attacks that could pass through any defenses.
