4 The Sound Of Your Voice Part 1

No one's pov

Izuku Midoriya was deaf. No sound came to him nor left him. His main wish in life was to simply hear his mother's and best friend's voice just once. He often asked himself if he was was even worth the simple luxury many took for granted.

Mama Inko always kept him going. She was devastated when she first heard her baby would never hear a single sound. From the day of his birth she pledged to make sure he was happy through the darkest of times and never needed a reason to frown.

And that she did.

As Midoriya was growing up he always had Katsuki. The boys met when they were in nappies, on a play date set up by their mum's. The connection was instant despite Midoriya's disability to neither hear nor talk. You see Midoriya didn't need words; he could laugh. His smile lot up the whole room, whereas his laugh rendered the world silent. As Midoriya could not hear, he could not tell that the room always fell silent when he laughed. It was mesmerising web of beauty and to say the least, Katsuki was trapped. He set a goal to learn sign language so he could never stop hearing the hypnotising display of joviality.

Both boys were quick learners and were able to communicate quite fluently by the age of 5. Katsuki got what he had wished for as he was able to tell Midoriya jokes that set him off in a fit of giggles. It was then the boy was gifted the name Kacchan.

At the age of 7 Bakugou went though a bully phase and fell out with Izuku for a while. This was because many were praising him for his quirk resulting in him becoming obnoxious and thinking he was above everyone else. Izuku, by that point, had given up on believing he was going to develop a quirk but was happy for Bakugou all the same. The boy's impairment stopped him from speaking up and he quickly became the main victim of the angry boys temper. With the phase a new nickname for Midoriya surfaced. Deku. Despite the fury Bakugou appeared to have for 'Deku', he never forgot sign language.

By the age 10 the disputes were forgotten but the nickname stuck. Both of the youths were aiming for UA best hero school in the country. Though Midoriya had doubts he never gave up. His mother and Kacchan had his back and he couldn't let them down.

Katsuki's pov

(a/n He has All Mights power. Since All Might is required to know sign language in case he needs to save a deaf or mute person. Also italics e.g. this is sign language)

I glance at Deku beside me to find him skipping with a smile that stretches ear to ear. His second wish in life was becoming reality. Why shouldn't he be happy? His happiness was cut short by a small rock on the path. I reached out to catch him but a small pair of hands got to him first. He was left suspended in the air before his saviour released him.

The small hands belonged to a girl with a round face, brown hair and chocolate eyes to match.

"Are you ok? I stopped you with my quirk. I'm sorry I didn't ask first!" She had just opened her mouth and she was already annoying me. Her talking continued until I interrupted.

"He's deaf. He wouldn't be able to hear you even if you screamed." I stated plainly. The look on her face was priceless.

"I'm soooooo sorry I didn't realise!"

"He still can't hear you." I turned to Deku and signed to him. She stopped you with her quirk and she keeps on apologising. That snapped him out of his daze leaving a light blush on his cheeks. In response to the blush, a pang of jealousy shot though me. He replied, tell her it's ok it's not like she could have known. Please ask her about her quirk I- his signing was cut off by a surprised noise coming from the girl beside us.

"It's nearly time for the exam orientation! I have to go, good luck you guys!"

That high-pitched squealing was going to be the deaf of me. (Ayyyyyy) A scowl made it's way onto my features as I once again turned back to Deku. Come on nerd. The orientation is about to start. He just nodded and resumed his skipping again. I watched him for a while before following him.

~Le Time Skip~

Everybody watched in horror as Deku's limp body fell to the ground. My adrenaline kicked in making me the first to move. I created explosions in my hands so I propelled quicker through the air.

By the time I had got there Deku was safe on the ground but looked a state. I found out it was round face who had saved him. After giving her a grunt of acknowledgement, I set my attention on Deku. He had multiple broken bones and was definitely not going to be moving much in the next few days. I crouched down next to him and heard his calm breathing. He was unconscious.

An little old woman came up to us and mused on how he was hurt so badly by his own quirk but said no more as she planted a kiss on Deku's head. This caused his wounds to begin healing. A sigh of relief past my lips. I had promised Aunty Inko and myself that I would keep him safe.

I didn't realise that no one was talking until the sound erupted from every side. Deku had given up his chance to get into the school of his dreams to save a girl and that quirk. When did he get a quirk? I decided not to dwell on it as I watched his unconscious body back to the medical bay.

~Another Damn Time Skip~

The next week I was at his house everyday in an effort to comfort him. He had worked so hard and didn't deserve this.

One day I was at his house Aunty Inko came rushing into the living room with a frantic look on her face.

"Izuku! It's here! It came!" She did nt sign it but her expression told Deku all he needed to know. She handed him the letter. Opening it carefully a circular disk no bigger than my palm came out.

As it dropped on the table a projection of All Might jumper out.

"I AM HERE AS A PROJECTION!" He boomed. He continued to explain how Deku had got into UA because the exam counted rescue points. He also showed a video of Kirby asking to give some of her points to him, to which Deku blushed. (The projection has subtitles for him)

After the video finished cheers from Inko filled the room. She brought me and Deku into a warm hug as her pride basically radiated off of her.

Later that day my parents came over to Deku's house with my letter. It turns out I had gotten in as well. To celebrate both of our families came together for a feast that night unable to contain our joy.

(Guess what?) ~Time Skip~

Currently, both young men were standing outside their classroom door. Midoriya was so nervous he was shaking so Katsuki did the only thing that had ever calmed the cinnamon roll down since the day they met. Bakugou Katsuki...held his hand.
