42 Epilogue (One Year Later)

***One Year Later***

Avery's P.O.V

"Hey, son how was work?" Hailey's dad asked as I walked in the house.

"Hard." I laughed, looking around.

"They are sleeping." He smiled.

I nodded heading up to the bedroom. I stood at the door, smiling like an idiot. Hailey and our baby boy Noah were sound asleep. It was hard to believe he was three months already. Thankfully when he was born everything was okay for both Hailey and him. Though it has been hard work, for the first six weeks he barely slept, we could not get him into a routine, and we were both shattered but we got there. He was worth it though.

We were currently still at Hailey's parents staying, only for another couple of months, nearly saved enough money from my construction job to get our own place. I stood there watching them for a few moments, Noah had his little hand wrapped tightly around Hailey's fingers. He was such a mommy's boy. I slid my shoes off, quietly making my way over to the bed, laying down next to Hailey, wrapping my arm around her softly, not wanting to wake either of them.

"Avery?" I heard her whisper tiredly.

"Yeah kitten, it's me. Shh go back to sleep baby, I am here if he wakes up." I whispered, kissing her shoulders.

"Okay. Love you." She whispered.

"Love you too baby," I replied, she soon fell fast asleep again.

Just as she did Noah stirred, whimpering a little. I knew he was due to wake up. I stood making my way to the other side of the bed, as I did, he opened his brown eyes looking at me.

"Hey, baby boy." I cooed at him, making him let out a small giggle, a giggle that always tugs at my heartstrings.

I reached down, picking him up and sitting on the chair with him, not wanting to wake Hailey.

"Daddy missed you," I whispered, stroking his cheek.

He giggled again, his hand wrapping around my finger.

"Hope you have been easy on your mommy today." I cooed.

"He has been really good." I heard Hailey's whisper from the bed.

I looked over, seeing her watching us, a smile on her lips, making me smile back at her. She patted the spot next to her. I stood, walking over to the bed, laying Noah in between us. He lay there kicking his little legs cooing away to himself, making us both laugh.

"How was work?" Hailey asked.

"It was alright. I missed you two though." I pouted at her.

"We missed you too." She smiled leaning in kissing me.

She was an amazing mom to our little boy, think she learned it all from her own mom. The way she was with him made me fall more in love with her.

"We still going to your mom's later?" She smiled.

"Yes. She is excited because she hasn't seen us in a few days...well more excited to see Noah obviously." I laughed.

"Yes." Hailey giggled.

My mom was doing great, she had been clean and sober for over six months now. She was working again...dating even and I have never seen her as happy as she is right now. She had been a great help to us, they all have.

"So, you gonna marry me yet?" I smirked.

I knew she would say no, not out of badness or not because she never wanted to but because she wanted to wait until we had our own place, finished her college that she had been doing online. Though that never stopped me asking her nearly every day.

"Avery." She laughed, shaking her head.

"What? I told you, I will keep asking until you say yes kitten." I winked.

I was only messing with her; I know neither of us was ready for it exactly right now.

"You are a pain in my ass, bad boy." She giggled.

"Don't lie you love it, baby girl," I smirked, winking at her. "Well until tomorrow," I added laughing, making her giggle.

"Yes. I really do, you're still a pain in my ass though." She said sticking her tongue out at me before turning her attention to Noah.

"Yes, yes he is...your daddy is a pain in the butt." She cooed at Noah. "What do you think, should I say yes to him?" She added.

Noah giggled, kicking his legs.

"I think he agrees with me that his mommy should marry me." I smiled.

"Ask me again tomorrow and we will see." She giggled.

"I will hold you to that." I winked, kissing her. "I love you kitten," I added.

"I love you too handsome." She replied.

She nodded her head, giggling before turning her attention back to Noah, talking to him, making him go crazy. As I said, he is a mommy's boy. I smiled as I watched the two of them. I do not know what I did to deserve them; I really do not. I was a lucky man. And I could not wait to spend the rest of my life with her.

If you asked me this time a year ago where I would be, it would not be this but I would not change a single moment of it, well would change one thing...I would have asked Hailey out sooner than I did but got there in the end.
