6 Chapter 6

Longwei woke up the next morning by having a nightmare of being eaten by a snake.

"Ahhh!"

Zhang Yuqi didn't even bother waking up. That kid was causing trouble. Maybe she shouldn't have picked him up?

But even if she didn't wake up, Cinna did.

He whined from his crib in his room and Zhang Yuqi sighed hearing the faint sound. In the end, she got up, pissed off at the kid she brought back. More extra training for him today.

'Yuqi, I'm back!'

'Welcome back, Darling.'

'Yuqi, I have some bad news.'

Zhang Yuqi frowned. What kind of bad news would be bad enough to make it seem worse than the apocalypse?

'The thing is... my superior ordered me not to give you too powerful of a golden finger. Your power, it's been fixed to only being able to be used 10 times.'

"Oh..."

This wasn't too bad. But if one of her future party members were infected, would she have to use her powers?

'Then I can use it on 10 people Max?'

'Yup, using it once per person is the maximum for the human body. And if you're the one infecting them, they won't feel pain and will still have full control of their consciousness.'

'Good.'

Zhang Yuqi got up and walked out of her room.

"Longwei, shut up!" she yelled in frustration.

"I'm sorry Sis Yuqi! But can you be quiet? I'm making Cinna go back to sleep," Longwei whispered.

Oh, it looked like the kid was smart enough to apologize. He even was rocking Cinna gently and being quiet for once.

Zhang Yuqi turned and went into the kitchen.

She checked the time and got pissed off again.

5 AM! Can't the kid have yelled at least 3 hours later?!

Zhang Yuqi grumbled and complained to Darling and the system listened and commented. They were like housewives, complaining about daily life.

Making coffee for herself, she added some peppermint candy into the drink.

"Oh? I want to try coffee!" Longwei foolishly grabbed the coffee container and almost burnt his hand.

"So hot!"

"Pft," although Zhang Yuqi was bothered by this talkative kid, she did albeit think that he was great to have around. He served as a good entertainment source.

"Sis Yuqi, don't laugh! I haven't had coffee before, this is a serious matter!" Such a serious face, but with his good young looks, he still looked very immature.

"Hahaha!" Now she was roaring in laughter.

"Ah, Meng Longwei, I hope that bringing you back home was a good choice. You've got to become a man! Let's go out and fight some zombies again," eager to shed some guts and blood once again, Zhang Yuqi gave out a suggestion that was meant to be taken as an order.

"Sis Yuqi, I-I already am a man!" Longwei puffed out his chest in pride.

"Ha, aren't you just trying to worm your way out of seeing zombies and mutants again? Pathetic!" Zhang Yuqi scolded.

That morning, Zhang Yuqi quietly lifted Cinna from his cute sleeping position and prepared some baby food to take along during their journey.

Longwei was still rolling around the aftertaste of the coffee he had just a moment ago.

Too bitter! How did adults drink such stuff! Is this what they call "bitterness of society" or something like that?

But... the leftover peppermint candy coffee that he drank from Sis Yuqi's mug tasted mellow and comforting. It must surely be because it was Sis Yuqi's mug!

Zhang Yuqi greeted the guards who were guarding the city gates and they waved back.

"Huh, she's going out again. What does she do?" the newcomer asked.

"She's probably killing zombies."

The newcomer cried out, "But she has two kids! And one's even a baby!"

"She... I don't think common sense works well with her..." an experienced guard sighed after reminiscing about what he first saw when he came to this place.

A She-demon wrecking havoc.

She was beautiful but very terrifying.

The guards had all frozen at the sight of a young girl laughing in joy while killing every zombie that she ran into while dancing around.

After a short period of time, the zombies, who didn't have a speck of intelligence in them yet, retreated.

That was how scary she was to even those strange monsters.

The guards who knew and had seen what kind of person this girl was, shivered.

"Is she very powerful?" the newcomer foolishly asked.

"Don't talk about that! Her powers are top notch even in the SEMs! I reported her to the higher-ups but they only told us not to disturb her and try to draw her into the government by being polite."

Meanwhile, Zhang Yuqi and Longwei were training.

Longwei almost threw up but held back, impressing Zhang Yuqi with his ability to adapt.

"Good boy."

Longwei weakly smiled at the compliment which made a trickle of drool mixed with bile come out from the corner of his mouth.

Zhang Yuqi felt disgusted and handed him a tissue.

"Ah... hehehe." Longwei noticed and wiped his mouth in a reddened state. How embarrassing!

Longwei mainly tried to train with his mental abilities, but he tired himself out after 5 hours.

Even at the orphanage, he barely used his powers, saving them up for when he needed to bring up food from the refrigerator and pantry downstairs.

He was without, no doubt, the most powerful beginner mental ability user that Zhang Yuqi had met, but she wouldn't go easy on him because of that.

A zombie reached Meng Longwei and almost scratched the kid until it was headbutted and killed with a dagger.

"Oh~ Good job. But don't over exert yourself. Here, juice and lunchbox. And go feed Cinna for me. I'll guard the car."

Longwei wheezed out a 'thank you' and went inside the car.

"Ah~ Air conditioner is mankind's greatest invention!" he groaned.

Opening the bag that Zhang Yuqi handed to him, he found a lunchbox, a juice box, and a baby food container.

He first fed Cinna. It was 12 AM and the baby would usually be hungry at this time.

"Here, ahh." Spoon feeding the adorable baby, Longwei looked outside to see Zhang Yuqi smiling while crazily fighting the zombies.

"... Cinna, do you think I'm ever going to be that powerful? I like your mom but I'm so weak. By the way, who is your dad? I want to go beat him up! He left such a cute kid and pretty girl alone! Ah, wait, did your dad become a zombie? Is that why she likes to kill zombies? If so, sorry..."

Cinna didn't understand Longwei's rambles, but he could feel that his main caretaker was sad. Being the mature and responsible baby he was, Cinna patted Longwei's head as if he was telling him that everything would be fine.

"What a serious baby you are."

Longwei gave up communing with a baby and started eating his lunch. Sis Yuqi's cooking was mediocre but the home-made food warmed his heart.

"Alright, if your mom can fight, I can fight too! Cheer for me, ok?" Once again, Longwei talked nonsense to our adorable Cinna and went out of the car after finishing his lunch and juice.

"Sis Yuqi, I'll help!" Longwei yelled as he went outside the car.

"Uup!" The smell hit him instantly. It hadn't this bad when he was outside before. And just having eaten lunch, he felt like throwing up.

'Nono, I can hold it in!' He swallowed the bitter bile back and his throat stung.

"Are you feeling ok?" Zhang Yuqi asked.

"Sis Yuqi, are you concerned for me?" Longwei asked with tearful eyes.

"I'm asking about your mental ability. Idiot."

Longwei suffered a critical damage to his heart: -100

"Get back to fighting if you're fine."

"As cold as ever... I really should start calling you Boss," lamented Longwei.

"You called me that yesterday, I was wondering when you were going to realize your position again," scoffed Zhang Yuqi.

Longwei's status: -500

"...Boss, can I have the rest of the day off? My heart is wounded."

"You have heart palpations? You seem perfectly healthy to me."

"Th-that's not it. My soul is wounded."

"That's not an excuse. In the future, you'll have to fight much more powerful creatures like the mutant snake you saw yesterday. Get used to this type of life quickly."

Longwei tottered off, depressed.

'Hmph, I'll become powerful, so powerful that I'll make you bow down to me one day!'

The poor zombies were vented on by Longwei and his frustrations disappeared. He now kind of understood that killing zombies provided some sort of a stress relief.

But after the apocalypse ended, what would he vent his stress on? Killing other humans? Impossible, he couldn't do that. But if his mind was wired to kill zombies when stressed, what would happen when the apocalypse ended?

This caused even more frustration and he ended up directing his mental abilities to kill more zombies.

All of a sudden, a loud roar was heard from the southern direction.

"Boss!" cried out Longwei.

"Calm down, it's only a level 2 zombie."

Zhang Yuqi remembered her last life. Last time, she had died at a level 2 zombie's hands. This time, she was almost level 3, possibly leveling up after she killed this level 2 zombie.

"Raaaaaa!" an ear-piercing howl sounded in the air.

"Shut up!" Zhang Yuqi winced as she ran and took out a French saber from her dimension.

Ordinary bullets would only be useful for level 1 zombies. Specially crafted bullets had effects that would harm at most level 3 zombies. And if a person's SEM talent was sharpshooting, it would have very powerful momentum.

But Zhang Yuqi wasn't that good of a shooter, she had only taught herself to accurately shoot things that were up to 20 meters away. And if the target moved quickly, she wouldn't be able to shoot well. She wasn't professional, but doing this good was very amazing for an amateur.

In her dimension, she had a stock full of weaponry. Swords, sabers, guns, spears, bows & arrows, and more stuff.

The French sword was light and sharp. The Japanese saber, a Katana was slightly heavy, powerful, and long. But the weight still troubled Zhang Yuqi and the hold didn't have a hilt like the French saber.

Today's weapon: The double-edged French Saber.

Zhang Yuqi had practiced using this saber many times but it would be her first time using it in battle.

The zombie howled again, "Raaaaaa!"

"I. Already. Told. You. Shut. Up!" In a strained voice, Zhang Yuqi ran forward and slashed. She impaled the zombie directly with her saber.

"God, you're so much more annoying than Longwei."

Longwei who was only a few feet away heard it and felt proud.

'Wait- what am I feeling proud for?!'

Feeling wronged, Longwei didn't say anything, trying the useless "Silent Treatment" once again.

In the car:

"Longwei, what do you want for dinner?"

"..." Che, I'm not speaking to you!

"Oh? Then do you want to eat Pig's organ soup today?"

"No! Sis Yuqi, not that! I've seen enough guts today!" Longwei shouted in terror.

Zhang Yuqi chuckled.

"Yea, ok. You just don't seem normal when you aren't lively. I'll make egg drop soup today."

Longwei contemplated.

'Maybe, just maybe, Sis Yuqi likes me? At least she doesn't mind me talking so much!'

Cinna looked at the delusional boy and giggled seeing the weird expression on Longwei's pretty face.

When they returned, it was close to 2 PM.

The guards greeted her again and she nodded in reply.

"Ai, she's kind of stuck up." The newcomer commented.

"Shush, she has every right to be." Guard 1 scolded.

"Yea, to be honest, I heard about her past and feel as if she's had a hard life." Guard 2 nodded solemnly.

"Hm, how?" The newcomer was seriously concerned about how there wasn't any gossip. He'd be great friends with Meng Longwei.

"She... I heard that she's only 18 and had her child by being raped." Guard 1 told him.

"What! What horrible person did that?!"

"I heard that it was an official's son. The official is still alive and has a position in the government. The bastard is still alive too. I only found out about this from the higher-ups when they were drunk. Our higher-ups dislike that official and were digging up some dirt when they found out about the girl."

"No wonder she looked so cold."

"No wonder she liked killing the male zombies more."

"No no, it's just that there are more males in the human and zombie population."

"Oh, but she liked cutting off their dongers! Zombies seemed to be able to feel pain if that part is cut off."

All the guards, even the ones just listening in, shivered.

What a scary gal!
