29 Got gnoll clue

The Elite gnoll had finally appeared and yet was outside my grasp. I had watched the unique female gnoll walk from camp to camp gathering a huge crowd around her. In less than a minute she had gained 20 followers, all infatuated with her. They barked and yipped at each other, fighting to be the closest one to her.

What kind of crazy elite is this? How can I fight against that many gnolls? I had to think of a way to get her away from them, but how?

I wracked my brain to come up with a solution but nothing came to me.

Her entourage grew larger and still no ideas came to me. What could possibly overshadow a dogs desire to mate?

I was forced to wait as she gathered the entire rest of the camp. They drew closer and closer to my hiding spot, but still, no opportunity arose.

Around 50 gnolls surrounded the elite gnoll and she began to bark at them in their strange language. She said something and pointed at the stack of rocks I was hiding on. I ducked down and changed my position.

Why was she pointing at me? What was going on? I dropped down and heard a loud crash come from the camp. I looked around the corner and saw one of boiling pots of water on the floor. Gnolls rushed out of the way making a path for a very large gnoll in well-made leather armor. He was a good foot and half taller than the rest of the gnolls and his armor had intricate designs etched in elaborate gold stitching. He had kicked the pot down to make an entrance and gain the attention of the gnoll interceptor. This gnoll was from another tribe, his armor marked him as a chieftain.

Holy crap! Another elite!

He held a mighty warhammer in one hand, which he held out beside him as though it weighed nothing.

The gnoll interceptor berated the newcomer while pointing at the boiling water, making it seem like she was mad about the wasted food.

There was another crash from the other side of the group of gnolls as one of the makeshift tents fell to the ground. Standing behind the destroyed tent was yet another very large gnoll. He was almost 2 feet taller than the rest of the gnolls. He wore similar leather armor, but with elaborate silver stitching. The gnoll had a great-axe that he slung over his shoulder. He was also a chieftain from another tribe. Two chieftains! Three elites! What was going on?!?

The female gnoll began berating this new chieftain with a series of barks and gestures at the destroyed tent.

Neither of the new-comers seemed bothered by her complaints and moved towards one another. The smaller gnolls knew they were outmatched and moved out of their way. The chieftains had massive blood lust for one another and the remaining gnolls could feel the tension in the air. The gnolls began to bark and howl with an intense fervor and the gnoll interceptor was momentarily ignored as this strange mating ritual began. All eyes were on the two chieftains as they prepared to fight.

This was my moment!

I aimed and threw a rock right in front of the eyesight of the gnoll interceptor.

I didn't want to do damage, just get her attention and something told me the AI on this one was unique.

She turned her head and looked me directly in the eyes. She yelled at the other gnolls beside her but the battle between the two chieftains had begun. They had thrown down their weapons and were pummeling each other with a savage bestial fury. The gnolls ignored her and she stomped off. She drew her magic sword and ran straight at me.

I couldn't believe my eyes, not one of the gnolls even noticed she was missing. I took off into the forest and the gnoll interceptor quickly caught up to me.

Damn! She's fast!

I had barely gotten 20 feet into the forest, before I was forced to face her.

I turned and held my sword before me in challenge. The gnoll interceptor stopped suddenly and spoke in the human language, " So! Your the one who has been killing my people!"
