8 Chapter 8: Surprise

Finally, after a long and arduous journey, the group arrived at their destination.

As they stepped off their horses, their eyes scanned the surrounding area with confusion and wonder.

Why had they stopped at the outskirts of the city?

There was no sign of civilization in sight.

Instead, there are only dense trees that blanketed the landscape as far as the eye could see.

Surrounding a sprawling farm and its sturdy farmhouse.

With several barns, a winding river, and an expanse of empty land perfect for farming.

As they took in the scene before them, each member couldn't help but wonder why Prince Arthas had chosen such a remote location.

But as Arthas himself surveyed the area, he made a satisfied nod.

It's just as he planned.

This place with such abundant resources are perfect for his plan to build a base.

...

As the sun began its descent, casting long shadows across the rolling hills and fields.

The golden light bathed everything in a warm glow, giving a picturesque setting to the scene unfolding.

Prince Arthas gracefully dismounted off his horse and strode towards the farmhouse with purpose.

His princely identity commanded attention, causing the group to follow him closely as he made his way inside.

The old wooden floors creaked beneath their weight.

Carrying them through the cozy interior of the farmhouse, until they reached a large oak table.

The sturdy table had seen many gatherings and conversations over the years, its grain worn and smooth from generations of use.

Now it stood ready to bear witness to whatever discussions would take place among its new guests.

In that moment, Arthas sat tall and regal upon his wooden chair.

His piercing blue eyes sweeping over the faces of his subjects with a mysterious gaze.

With conviction in his voice, he addressed the room, his words shocking to the core.

"Everyone, we have made our journey to this remote location for one purpose only"

"To establish a base here," Prince Arthas declared firmly, his voice resounding off the walls.

"From here on out, we will make this our home and amass a strong army in the future."

A murmur then rippled through the room as heads turned towards each other in confusion.

The prince's remarks about his grand plans were unexpected.

They've already surveilled their surroundings.

This place could definitely provide them with the necessary resources to build a base.

It also meets the conditions to raise an army, because it was strategically located on the outskirts of Andorhal.

Providing easy access to resupply, recruit more people, establish trade partnerships, and offer aid or request assistance when needed.

But the group of men answers to King Terenas himself, not Arthas.

Instructed to accompany the Prince on his journey.

To protect him and keep a watchful eye, then report back to the King.

So hearing about this news of constructing a base and developing an army in the future confused them greatly.

This was not mentioned at all by the King.

So doubts sparked about the prince's intentions.

Was just he acting on his own without consulting his father?

It makes sense, since he was only five years old.

They tend to be impulsive and like to do things on their own.

But Arthas displayed a level of maturity and wisdom far beyond his years.

Everyone knows this, especially the Knights.

They've already been acquainted with Arthas a year ago.

When the prince went about in introducing himself to everyone who serves his father.

Especially the Knights of Lordaeron, he always comes and visits them while they were training.

But everyone enjoyed Arthas's company, he was kind, outgoing and very intelligent for his age.

Almost too intelligent...

Ironically this was once again proven when he revealed a shocking truth that would inevitably come to light in the future.

One that he had deliberately concocted in order to gain support and loyalty from those around him for his future plans.

"I know what you are thinking," Arthas spoke with understanding and self-awareness.

"He's just a kid, he probably doesn't know what he's talking about."

"Well, let me change your mind about that."

Then with a wave of his hand, he summoned an intense light that radiated from his body.

Reflecting off his small figure.

The light grew brighter and brighter until a magnificent shield appeared in the air around him.

Bearing the symbol of a holy cross.

The shield hovered effortlessly, pulsing with divine power.

Its presence was overwhelming and awe-inspiring as it emitted a radiant aura, protecting Arthas.

The room fell silent as everyone gazed upon this miraculous display.

Some questioned if they were dreaming or under some sort of spell.

Others were in utter disbelief at what they saw before them.

.

.

.

Not a single soul dared to break the sacred silence.

Their eyes glued to the majestic shield hovering around Prince Arthas.

Arthas let the moment linger.

Allowing the situation to sink in for them to comprehend what exactly they just witnessed.
