12 Chapter Twelve
We finally approached the law firm.
Diego parked the car while we all got down.
"Here we are" Chloe uttered.
We walked into the firm, with our heads high.
"Hi" the receptionist said.
"Hi, I have an appointment with Mrs Campbell" I replied.
"Eunice Campbell?" She asked.
"Yeah" I replied.
"Alright, please hold on" she said before reaching for the telephone.
We took a seat, waiting patiently for a response.
"Come with me" the receptionist said.
"Let's go" August said.
We got on an elevator, reaching the third floor.
"Here we are" the receptionist said. "Mrs Campbell" she continued, showing us the way into the office.
"Stella?" Mrs Campbell uttered.
"Hi aunt Eunice" I replied, giving her a hug.
"Oh my God, you're so big, look at you" she acknowledged me.
"Come on aunt" I smiled.
"Are these your friends?" She asked.
"Yes, they are" I replied.
"Welcome, please sit down, would you guys like anything?" She said.
"We're okay ma'am" Diego replied.
"Alright, so what do you want me to do for you? How can I help?" She asked.
"I've been accused of rape and I need your help" Axel said.
"Oh my dear, are you really innocent?" She asked in a state of shock.
"Yes I am, I definitely am" Axel replied.
"Can you explain everything properly" she said.
"There is this girl, she has been trying to go out with me and I clearly don't want her, yesterday I agreed to take her out on a date and after I rejected her. She threatened to tell people I made advances towards her" he explained.
"Can you justify this? Any evidence of that statement? Anything at all" Aunt Eunice asked.
"Yes, here is the footage from yesterday" Axel handed her the CCTV footage.
"Alright" she uttered before slotting it into the DVD.
The video played, after several minutes of watching it. Aunt Eunice grabbed a paper and started writing.
"How did she come out? Social media? The press?" She asked.
"Social media" Diego replied.
"Alright, what we are going to do is release a statement on that same application she used, telling everyone you are not guilty and if this doesn't work and maybe people don't believe your statement, we would upload the video footage and sue her to court if she's persistent of taking the matter higher" she said.
"Okay, okay, please let's do it" Axel said.
I've never seen him this broken.
Aunt Eunice got up, smiled at me and walked out of the office.
"Woah" August uttered.
"Thank you so much Stella" Diego said.
"Anytime" I said.
Axel stared at me for a long while.
Literally a LONG WHILE.
It made me a little nervous, I smiled at him.
He smiled back.
He actually smiled back at me, holy shit!
Aunt Eunice came back to the office. "What is your name?full name?" She asked Axel.
"Axel Martinez" he replied.
"Alright, the accuser, do you know her full name?" She asked.
"Yeah, Trina Valentine" Chloe replied.
"Okay, I'll be right back" she uttered before leaving the office.
"Thank God we don't have classes today" Chloe uttered.
"Yeah, but I still got work to do" August said.
"Alright guys, the case has been opened, you'll get the press statement tomorrow morning but for now, please stay off social media and don't cause any trouble, be here by 10am" Aunt Eunice said, walking into the office.
"Thank you so much!" Axel replied.
"You're most welcome" she said.
"You all study with Stella?" She asked.
"Yeah but we are all in our second year" August replied.
"Take care of Stella alright" aunt Eunice uttered with a huge smile on her face.
"We should leave now" Diego said. We all got up.
"Thank you so much ma'am" Chloe said.
"It's okay" She replied.
"I'll be here 10am sharp, I promise" Axel said.
"You better" Aunt Eunice.
They walked out of the office, I stayed back to thank her.
"Thanks Aunt, thank you so much" I said.
"He's really good looking" she uttered.
"Aunt" I said smiling.
"Your parents know about him?" She asked.
"Aunt, we are barely even friends and no, my moms don't know about him" I replied.
"But you like him? Why else would you choose to help him?" She uttered.
Come to think of this, she might be right. Why else will I help Axel?
"Aunt please" I laughed.
"Alright Stella, have fun okay?" She said.
"Bye Aunt" I uttered, leaving her office.
I walked to the elevator, the others left but Martinez didn't.
"I waited for you" Axel uttered.
Why?
"Let's go?" I said, pressing buttons on the elevator pad.
We stood in total silence until the elevator door opened and we walked in.
"Thank you Stella" he uttered.
"You're welcome" I said nervously.
Why in the world was I even nervous???
"I hope this dies down soon" I continued.
"Yeah, me too" he said, roughing his hair.
"Its really exhausting" he continued.
"That thing you told me about your uncle and all, why didn't you report it all to your aunt?" He asked.
"What? Oh yeah, uhm, I haven't really summoned courage to tell anybody yet" I replied.
"But you told me" he said.
"You should really take the matter up, he can't keep getting his way with you Stella" Axel said.
"I will, I just need time" I replied.
"Time waits for no one" he uttered as the elevator door opened.
We walked out of the firm, towards the parking lot, Diego, Chloe and August were roaming around the car, waiting for us.
"Hey" I said.
"We're done here? Let's go" August uttered.
"Where are we going to now?" Chloe asked.
"Yo, we've got business to do" Diego tapped Axel.
"I'll drop you guys at campus, I and my brother got something to do" Diego said.
"What something?" Chloe asked.
"Work babe" Diego replied her.
"Don't do anything stupid, you know what is happening now" August said.
"It's gonna be okay, okay?" Diego said.
Axel entered the car without saying a word, "get in" Diego uttered.
We entered the car.
"It's almost winter, I can feel it" I said rubbing my hands together.
I couldn't tell if it was the weather that made me feel some kind of cold or if it was the conversation i and Mr Martinez had.
"October isn't even over yet Stella" Chloe replied me.
"Winter comes at you anytime" August uttered.
"Oh please August" Chloe replied him.
"Yen yen yen" August mimicked Chloe.
Chloe faced back to hit August.
"What the fuck Chloe, leave me alone" August said.
"Yen yen yen" Chloe mimicked August.
"You two are so weird" I laughed.
Chloe faced Diego, watching him drive, he noticing her staring then he smiled at her.
