1 Expectations

"Brother Yan!!!". A girl of about 16 years shouted. She looked beautiful with long silky black hair. The person she was calling was a boy of about 16 years too. He had black hair and look strikingly handsome but what stood out the most about him was his eyes. They were a beautiful shade of blue that made anyone who looked into them want to take another look.

"Ahh, if it isn't our Kong Wang, why are you calling me?" The boy smirked as he replied.

" I wanted to ask you about which type of element you would like to awaken tomorrow during the awakening ceremony?" Kong Wang asked bashfully.

"Well, I don't know, I would love to awaken the space element. I heard space magicians are very strong". Ning Yan replied.

"Ohh, I want to awaken the psychic element though, good bye anyways. See you tomorrow." Kong Wang smiled as she left.

As Kong Wang left, Ning Yan sank into deep thought. He couldn't help but feel some anxiety when he thought about the awakening ceremony. He was popularly regarded as a concubine's son in the Ning clan that he came from. The clan head and his mother had been childhood lovers in their heyday, alas, his mother could not awaken any magical element hence they were separated into different classes in the society.

And as expected the clan head was groomed to take rein of the clan but about two weeks to his inaugauration he had met Ning Yan's mother and one thing led to the other and she got pregnant. On the inaugauration day, the clan head got married to another lady from the clan and when Ning Yan's mother's issue was raised, Clan Head Ning called her a concubine that he had for just one time. The woman Clan Head Ning married, Ning xi also got pregnant and the two women gave birth on the same day. In order to protect the image of the clan head and his wife, Ning Yan was also brought to the clan to live. Madam Ning naturally did not treat Ning Yan well but because of his wisdom beyond his age and the fact that Clan Head Ning liked him, she could not go overboard in maltreating Ning Yan. That was until the children of Madam Ning, Ning Xin and Ning Yun had a self awakening at age 12. It was discovered that Ning Xin, the girl had a natural spirit grade light element while the boy, Ning Yun, had a natural spirit grade Earth element. They were sent to tertiary institutions to develop their magic and start cultivating. Ning Yan meanwhile was been compared to the two children while Madam Ning started maltreating him publicly and Clan Head Ning started turning a blind eye to the matter. Recently, Ning Yan had even noticed that he was starting to irritate his father so the consequences of any problem arising in the awakening of his element spelt big trouble. Being kicked out of the clan was the smallest consequence, not to talk about madam Ning who might even go after his mother.

. "Hey" Ning Yan saw Lu xiao calling out to him. Lu Xiao was Ning Yan's neighbor and a scholarship student at Ning Magic high school.

"let's go home" Ning Yan stood up as he and Lu Xiao started walking home.

"Don't Be nervous big Brother's got your back" Lu xiao said .

"Tch, you unreliable person" Ning Yan shot back as he grabbed Lu Xiao's ear and pulled it.

Screaming and wailing reverberated as two school boys walked home.
