Similar to a gate

After her conversation with Calris, a few hours later, night fell. Myalis had her dinner with the family and when she was finished, she went to her room and sat down on her bed as her body began glowing a little purple.

She inhaled deeply and started to concentrate on the energy within her body. The beast-taming mark then materialized within her right palm, and her body started to glow brighter.

Calris and his wife were walking to their room with their children when they noticed the light reflecting outside of her room. A smile then appeared on Calris's face and his wife glanced at him with a worried expression.

"Do you think this is a good thing?" He looked at Lilian when she asked.

"Yes, it is, she is just practicing to control her abilities, we are leaving tomorrow to go home, when we arrive there, with the time we have left until the academy opens, I will increase the amount of time she trains, help her as much as I can, she is determined, with someone like her, nothing will be hard to learn, come on," He responded, and she smiled before going to their room.

After sensing she gained more control over the energy flowing within her body, she opened her eyes and saw the beast-taming marking appear in front of her like a massive gate that nearly touched the room's ceiling and she gasped.

"Why is it so big? What the hell is going on here?" She asked when she began hearing growling coming from behind the marking and she swallowed.

"Who the hell are you? Why are you disturbing me at this hour of the night? Do you have a death wish?" Someone or something asked in a frightening tone, and Myalis flinched before pulling back on the bed.

"Am I imagining things?" She asked as she took a deep breath and raised her right hand to where her marking was, it began glowing a little red and the large one in the room vanished.

"That scared me; why was it so big, and what was the growl? Where exactly was it coming from? This ability is dangerous, and I wondered if I had tapped into something I shouldn't have." She mumbled before lying back on the bed and exhaling deeply.

The girl fell asleep after a while of thinking about what she might have done because she was tired from a long day of training.

The next morning, when she woke up, she remembered what had happened and she sighed before getting out of bed and going to freshen up.

A while after, when she finished, she got dressed and then went to the dining room within the temple.

The temple was well kept, brown and despite being old, it was still standing strong.

"Good morning guys," She said when she entered the dining room and saw the entire family was there, they smiled at her then she sat down on a cushion that was set on the floor beside a long and square brown table.

"Good morning," They replied and the eldest child of the couple passed her a hot cup of tea and she smiled then thanked the girl.

Lilian and Calris had three children, the oldest of which was an eleven-year-old, long, brown-haired girl named Jina.

The second child was a short black-haired girl named Lina who was eight years old and the feisty one, while the youngest was a troublesome five-year-old boy. Despite this, they were a loving family that sometimes reminded Myalis of her own.

After Myalis took her food and began eating her breakfast, Calris glanced at her and smiled.

"Myalis, we will be leaving in a few minutes, are you really ready to go with us?" Lilian asked and Myalis looked at her and then exhaled deeply before smiling.

"Yeah, I am ready to go with you guys, this is going to be another step to moving forward," She responded and Calris nodded.

"Good, then I am hoping that you will like it in the big city," Lilian said.

"I hope so as well," She replied then they continued eating their food.

"Myalis, you'll be a part of our family from now on, right?" Jina asked, and Myalis looked at her, unsure how to respond to the child, while the parents looked at them and smiled.

"Jina, she'll need some time, sweetie, do you understand?" Her father inquired, and she turned to face him.

"Yes, I understand papa," She responded and he smiled, then Myalis sighed and bowed her head, thanking him and he chuckled.

When they had finished eating, they stood up, and Lilian looked at the children.

"Go get your belongings, we're leaving now, we're already a little late," She said.

"Come on, let's go get our things," Jina said then left with her siblings, Lilian looked at Myalis and then smiled.

"Myalis, get the things I gave you and what you have; we'll go shopping when we get there, there is a lot to do," She said, and Myalis smiled at her before going to grab her things from her room and they all met back at the temple's entrance.

Myalis wondered what they will be traveling with and Carlis patted her on her shoulder and she glanced at him.

"He'll be here in a minute, don't be afraid, he's a gentle being," Calris said as Myalis stared at him.

"What kind of creature are you referring to?" He chuckled when she asked.

"Don't worry, let him trust you, in order for that, you need to let him come to you, got it?" Calris asked and she nodded then looked at the sky when she heard a roar, the others smiled as they placed their bags on their back and everyone moved from the front lawn.

'What kind of creature is that?' Myalis's eyes narrowed as she began to move forward on her own when she saw a creature with wings land right in front of her.

"It's a Qilin, it's really fast and strong, be careful, Myalis," Carlis said and she sighed then it roared and her eyes widened and the others flinched.
