Chapter 24: The Unknown I

...........

[Ah, child... You have finally awakened... Come... Come to your mother]

The voice is still in his head, repeating itself over and over, the same tone, words, everything, making Silver wonder, 'Is it automated?'

No answer was given, of course, he was merely wondering to himself as he closed his eyes, soothing his frowning brows, 'Well, I expected worse, but... Just what the hell am I dealing with?'

It didn't feel like something he can fight off, seemingly way out of his league. The Silver Effect is just that strange and monstrous that it made him wonder who the voice speaking is?

'The voice doesn't seem to be affecting me as much, but I'm sure it'll only grow in intensity as time passes, so...' Silver mused before making his way to the depths of his lab.

'It had the goal of limiting my use of the Silver Effect long, but it seems that my plans need to be brought forward,' Silver contemplated as he stood before a single glass slide.

The only thing on the glass slide was a single tiny drop of blood, of his blood. It was his secret, something even Natalia wasn't aware of.

The blood is naturally infected with the T virus, or at least, it was infected, before Silver personally removed every T virus from every single cell in that drop of blood, something that took him days even with the Silver Domain.

However, what was left was something very different from his genetic makeup as he had allowed the T virus to do its work before eliminating it, changing the cells' genetic makeup to that of the T cells.

The goal was of course to make his cells have the advantages of the T cells but not the disadvantages.

That's, however, not what he focused on as most of his attention was on the things surrounding the nucleus of the cells, what seemed to be the Silver Effect but somewhat different.

There were still just two silver points orbiting the nucleus at such a speed that they look like a silver ring around it but with a few differences starting with their erratic movements.

The desks somehow were moving horizontally yet vertically at the same time, seemingly breaking the rules of space. Then again, how the quantum level works is still not studied nearly enough, shrouded in mystery.

From the third-person perspective though, that's how it looked to Silver for that's how he sees things with his domain. The New Silver Effect was moving at completely different frequencies, directions, and velocities.

Silver truly put most of his focus on studying the Silver Effect as it was a priority, working on it even while studying other things, something only possible with his silver domain.

As early as when Doomsday started, Silver tried to change how the Silver Effect works, only to realize that changing even a sliver of a value of its workings would simply make it dissipate... Until he figured out new values that make it quite stable.

And that's how the New Silver Effect came to be... Only, it's a downgrade in almost every aspect, only having the aspect of energy creation and a sliver of control. That's with Silver trying to improve it for so long, yet nothing.

The New Silver Effect has no offensive use whatsoever, as if it exists only in the soul dimension, if that even exists. It's intangible, yet still has little effect on the world.

And that's also what makes it so hard to control as Silver found out that he can only control one at a time, and barely so at that, none of which disappointed him in any way.

He can certainly still use the Silver Effect, but using it may mean losing himself, 'And... My imagination told me to try not to use it.'

Silver's imagination is certainly wild. He considers it his greatest trait, although it's not all imagination as it's based on some truth.

Thus when he took into consideration how the Silver Effect worked, and assuming... No, knowing that there are other creatures as the Game Of Awakening made clear, he couldn't help but come to the conclusion that the Silver Effect might be something forbidden.

It might just be something that if known to those aware of its power, they'll fear it more than anything else, and he might become a target to hunt.

So Silver created this drop of blood. No, he created numerous drops of infected blood, only one of which survived, one that reached stability, and instead of creating a clone of him, it stayed the same.

No, it experienced a mutation that interested Silver a lot, although not similar to Crystal's mutation. The mutation didn't come from the Silver Effect but from his soul, and he has a rough idea of what it is.

However, it was too soon to tell as the mutation was still nothing but a web of dark lines surfing through every speck of his blood... Silver was sure though, the mutation isn't dangerous for him.

So he started by collecting that still fresh drop of blood into a syringe before lying on a bed nearby.

Yet the cautious man Silver is, he turned his attention to his awakening, just in case something goes wrong, he decided to go above and beyond.

[Awakening Points: 4650]

Such a ridiculous amount of awakening points, only possible because of the Silver Effect, but without hesitation, for his future plans, he distributed the majority of them all to endurance.

[Awakening]

[Name: Silver]

[Physiology: Human]

[Physique: 110]

[Soul: 1000]

[Endurance: 4650]

[Energy: 57600/57600] (5760*10)

[Awakening Points: 0]

[Awakening Ability: Silver Effect: Unknown Silver energy with unknown effect]

Immediately after, he injected himself with the infected blood, exploiting an interesting hole in the awakening system.

When one increases their attributes by a significant margin, the golden energy gains some kind of healing effect, or rather, a stabilizing effect that makes sure nothing goes wrong due to the enormous pressure.

That's something very few will ever discover as most just distribute what will points they gained directly, and accumulating a number as large as 4650? That's hardly imaginable.

If the infection would've otherwise killed him or mutated him beyond recognition, then the awakening effect and his ridiculously high endurance will certainly negate that now.

The last step was the most important, manifesting the New Silver Effect in his soul and hopefully transforming it again. That's one of the only possibilities for getting rid of the voice safely.

While Silver was experiencing some hardships of his own, not too far away, somewhere in the center of New York, the leader and the tracker were having some trouble of their own.

"AHHHHHH!!! Ple! PleaseEE!!! God Help me!!!!!!" The screams of the leader reverberated throughout the place, screams of utter insane pain, being tortured from the inside out by what seemed to be bugs, swimming under his skin.

"Help? Is it help you seek? From God?" Before him stood a beast of a man, standing at nine feet in height, skin all cracked like the scales of beasts, like the scales of a dragon.

"Unfortunately for you, the God who made this Doomsday happen must be enjoying our little play," He was the true leader of the city's sanctuary, Lord Carvel, "Hell, he might just be crueler than me."

Lord Carvel turned his attention to the tracker who was helplessly tied to the wall just like his leader, "The problem is not that you two came back alive, but that you came back with little to no information."

"W-we couldn't follow him... In the fog," The tracker muttered with trembling lips, fear apparent in his tone.

"Oh, is that so?" Lord Carvel merely smiled as he traced his hand on the tracker's head... Well, a claw would fit his hand's description more, "I will give you a chance then, find him in less than a month... That's how long you two have to live."

The tracker's face paled in fright, knowing a bit about his lord's ability, and knowing that the two of them going out there will mean nothing but death.

"Any objection?" Lord Carvel questioned.

"No!! Please Please!! Make it stop!!" The leader's screams never stopped, and they didn't stop for a while after.

"The hunt has begun," Lord Carvel's strange draconic eyes shone brightly as he murmured, excitement surging through his bones at the mere thought of a new prey... Silver?
