5 A Boy Named...Sky?

Knowing that The Light is exactly who I'm trying to get to, I decide that I'm not leaving this guy.

"Great!" I say dusting myself off. "My name is Kayano and I was dropped off here by Nova.."

"Oh, I know who you are." He says. "In fact I've been assigned to assist you."

"Elaborate on that for me." I say.

"My mission right now is to bring you to HQ."

I nod in understanding. "So what now?"

"We go to The Light." He says.

"Question." I say. "Does The Light ever do anything"

"Of course." He says and begins walking so I follow. "The Light is a Prophetess."

"No, I mean does she ever enter the battlefield. Leave New Gen." I say.

"Not exactly." He says stretching his words.

"Can you not answer my questions halfway." I say. "It's really annoying and it doesn't get us anywhere."

Sky begins twirling a small blade in his hand. Small but deadly in the right hands.

"It's hard to explain." He says finally. "You'll just have to wait and see."

I roll my eyes. "Really?"

"I told you I can't explain it." He says shrugging.

"I'm starting to see the problem with you people." I say. "If I'm so important why am always I left in the dark?"

Sky pivots and tosses his blade moving at the speed of light. I sidestep it and grab it just as it flies by. I pin him up to a tree and hold the blade up to his adam's apple. He smiles. My face portrays boredom.

"Do we really have time for this." I say flatly and he laughs. I press the blade into his hand. "Your point?."

"In all honesty, I didn't think I'd miss." He says cockily and begins walking again.

"So you were trying to hit me!" I say annoyed. "Try that again and next time I will kill you."

"Man your people skills are really crap." He says.

"And what? Yours are perfect?" I say rolling my eyes.

"Yes." he says matter of factly and I snicker.

I refuse to continue talking to someone lacking so much competence, so the walk became a silent one. We'd only been walking for about ten minutes when wise guy opens his mouth again.

"So you're not talking to me anymore?" He asks and I ignore him. "This is childish."

I remember when I was young and the boys at preschool would always bother me. They would pull on my hair and kick my chair and every time I would yell at them. One day my teacher called my mother and when I got home she told me the best way to deal with it was to ignore them and that they would stop. The next day the boy next to me said he was going to kick my chair until I fell out of it and instead of telling him to shut up I didn't respond. He looked at me funny and then started his work and never again did he kick my chair. So hopefully, if I ignore Sky, he'll shut his mouth.

"Empress. Come on." He continues and I don't even look at him.

He stops walking and makes some sort of face, he smiles at me and raises an eyebrow as if expecting a reaction. He wants me to say something, so instead I roll my eyes and keep walking.

"You don't even know where we're going." He says.

And I realize he's right, so I pick up a rock, sit down, and begin to sharpen my dagger. I look up at him, smile, and continue sharpening. Sky responds to my stubbornness by snickering.

"Ok you win I don't know what I did but I'm sorry." He says. "I'm not used to solitude and we still have a whole two hour walk."

I shrug my shoulders. I don't know why he's complaining about how long the walk is, he's the one who made us stop and like he said I don't know the way. I put away the dagger and drop the rock.

"If the walk is so long then we really should keep going." I sigh. "And yes humans socialize, but you talk an awful lot."

"I'm a really talkative person." He says defensively.

"Fine then while we walk tell me about where we're going." I say.

He does exactly that. The next two hours he talked about the beautiful city of Snow and all the wonderful attractions such as: "High class restaurants, one of a kind boutiques, and suburban residencies. It was quite shocking to be informed that there are actual civilizations on this planet because as far as I'm concerned there's only woods and hideous monsters. I hadn't been here very long, but I've yet to come across a single human, village, town, or city. When we get to the city there's this huge barrier and we just walk through it. Then there's a huge gate and looking up the city is huge. My first thought is that we're locked out because Sky doesn't seem like the responsible type, like he might lose something while he was talking for so long.

"I really hope you know how to get in." Is all I say.

"Who do I look like?" He asks snickering. "I talk a lot but I'm one of the best agents of New Generation, trust me."

He takes some sort of ID out of his belt and now that I look at him he actually doesn't look that stupid. His hair is black and he has a streak of silver going down the front. That particular feature left me curious. His face was quite handsome, but serious. However, something that really throws me off was what he was wearing, a suit. I laughed.

"What?" he asks entering the gate and returning his ID to his belt. I follow.

"What?" I ask laughing. "What are you wearing?"

"This is what us agents typically wear." He says shrugging. "Makes me look more graceful when I go into battle."

"I see your point." I say thinking about how fast and graceful he was when he sliced that mutants head off earlier.

"But since you bring it up, what are you wearing?" he says mockingly.

"Nice try but this is typical camo gear." I say.

"You got me there."

As we walk I notice we're walking towards this huge building that looks like it's right in the center of the city.

"Amazing." I say taking in the beautiful scenery.

The City is calm and is far from crowded. The houses are beautiful, just like Sky said: Suburban. The boutiques were nice too, I'd never seen so many in one place not even at the plaza my mother would always take me to. And as we get closer to the building in the center-the one I'm assuming is HQ-looks like it's made of pure polished diamond.

"I know." He says. "It's like a real life fairy-tale."

"Exactly." I say still amazed.

"Welcome to New Generations Headquarters." He says swiping his ID on a scanner near a glass door.
