10 Tuned in

Waking up James felt huge and strangely made of.. metal. It was odd like he had swapped his freshly body for a huge hulking mass of steel. A heart for an engine and a brain for a computer. Everything felt like he had tuned in too an odd frequency, like he was on a different wavelength from the fest of reality. With a thought he pushed his engines harder and felt how the propeller increased it's rotations per minutes, slicing through the water like a hot knife through butter.

Pulling his mind away slightly he could vaguely sense his real body the weaknesses and the pains, how it was sunk into the soft leather chair of the captains seat. With a rush of horror he sensed how distant his body felt, how easily it could stop working. He pushed his mind back to it and allowed his mind to sink back into his body whilst still staying in tune with the submarine.

If felt. Natural. That was the word. Which seemed disconcerting that James could feel so right whilst being part of such a massive submarine so aligned with it.

Clearing his head he tuned back in with the submarine and focused on diving down through the waters. The windows to the outside world revealed only darkness with the occasional tiny fish furiously trying to escape the giant that is the submarine.

As his thoughts became part of the submarine he noticed tiny faults he never fully fixed and weaknesses that would come out in time. Resolving to fix them as soon as possible he continued through the waters.

A bleep on the radar a large item was rushing at the submarine at high speeds with a clang it bounced off the outer armour.

James pushed his mind outside the ship trying to glimpse the thing that hit them. All his mind saw before it escaped his ranges was serrated scales and bright white teeth. Big teeth. Teeth that evoked primal terror from James.
