2 Interstice 1

Lily hides her face in her hands and rocks back on her heels. She's leaning against a brick wall outside of an electronics store and muttering quietly but furiously.

"Why did I do this, why did I do this, why am I here, why am I doing this," the words are tumbling out of her faster than her tongue can keep up, and she stumbles over them, muttering and stuttering in a fast anti-rhythm. She stops talking immediately when the steel door next to her slips open and two men emerge, carrying pillow cases full of machines and small boxes of electronics. Both of them are wearing dark woolen masks over their faces.

"Good girl," one says with a smirk. He sets the filled pillow case on the ground next to the door. "We've only got about six more minutes before the security system and the cameras kick back in." The man pulls a small pistol from his jacket pocket and holds it out for her, his eyes searching her face. "You want your score? I need you to do more than just act the look-out this time."
