After about seventeen minutes, John woke up. He didn't actually wake up on his own but was woken up by the notification in his mind.

[ Ding.. Auxiliary job system activated. ]

[ Ding.. Binding system to host's soul. ]

[ Ding.. System has been binded to host's soul. ]

[ Ding.. Host has obtained a beginner's package. ]

John slowly got up. Lucy who seemed to have been in great distress lately was asleep. After all, this 'beating' had been going on for about a few months now.

John sighed and thought how petty he was. He hadn't been able to get a good job whereas Lucy had gotten a government job at the Province disciplinary office. This had been a major frustration for him as he was living off of her money. People would talk behind his back and curse at him for having to do nothing and have such a gorgeous girl.

John had been fed up due to these comments and started to argue with Lucy in small matters. Soon enough, he started to hit her.

John then quickly turned his attention towards the system and called out, "System." John had already sneaked out of the bedroom and entered the kitchen, so it was no big deal to call out.

[ Ding.. Yes, host. ]

The system answered. John didn't bicker much with the system after confirming that the system was real. He took out the phone in his pocket. He looked at the date and noticed it was 12 June, 2018. 'Sure enough, I have indeed reincarnated.' ,he thought.

He unlocked the mobile and went onto the internet. He looked at the search engine which was as same as before, 'Google'. John checked the basic information on the world for the next hour or so.

It seemed that world was just too different than his last one. The city names and stuff were all same but except these cities, there were no villages or smaller settlements. The population of the world was also much smaller. It was only a bit over one and a half billion.

The earth was the same but due to the various ferocious beasts running amok in the wild, big walls had been build that safe guarded the city. The people were also cultivators. They would cultivate and become powerful, powerful enough to stop the cities from getting run over by beast tides and to protect the non-cultivators. Even though the number of non-cultivators was pitifully low, they were still provided with various helps.

The technology of this 'new' world could be said to be very advanced. The virtual reality technology was already out. It indeed had numerous capabilities. It could be used to play games, set up virtual meetings, virtual shops, etc. This technology was only used by mortals and a small number of cultivators to play game whereas the trade had been major use of this technology. After all, cultivators would use the time they put into gaming into other important things such as cultivation and honing their skills.

John felt like he had known enough about the world, so he turned his attention back to the system. He said, "System, show my status."

'Hmm.. Seems nice.' ,he thought. He had indeed heard about these various pills or jobs from the internet. There were many people who had these auxiliary jobs. But those that there well versed in these jobs were very few and were basically old fogies with some exceptions of some talented geniuses.

"Open the inventory." ,John thought in his mind.

The inventory was presented in front of him. It was like one that could be seen in RPG games. John spotted the book like image with the name Basic Alchemy skill.

John took it out of his inventory and looked at it when Lucy came out of the room. Bikash was at loss about what to say about the sudden appearance of the book and got nervous…..
