Auxiliary Immortal

The world of immortal cultivation was always a grand one, filled with powerful swordsmen who could cut planets in half, divine doctors who could bring the dead back to life, and naturally the beautiful female cultivators who's single glance could stop the hearts of thousands of mortal men. Unfortunately for Minos, a poorly talented handy-man disciple of the Green Barrel Sect, that was a life he was destined to never know. That was until he figured out he actually was talented, though not in the conventional ways!

If he wanted to find Rinka, he needed to leave this planet, and being an Emperor would certainly make that much easier, so he'd fight for it, even if he joined the bones like Old Man Joyata said.

Despite his frail body, his mind had never lost its youth, and Minos wasn't afraid of a fight, he was just afraid of not having anything to fight for.

"Anyways we can talk about that stuff later, for now I've got to prepare Mr. Minos's medicine. Come on, let's give him his space" Old Man Joyata said, not forgetting his true purpose.

"Before you two leave, take this." Minos said, tossing the spatial ring to Old Man Joyata.

Grabbing it unconsciously, it took him a second to remember just how valuable this ring was, his hands shaky, shocked at how frivolous Minos was over such an incredible amount of money.

"Jena, you can take 100,000 for helping me, as for the medicine, use however much you need." Minos spoke.

"100,000! I thought we agreed on 1000?"

"That was if I won 100,000, but I won more, so it makes sense you get a little bit more as well. Besides, you've got your grandfather to take care of." Minos smiled, his eyes still closed.

"This is too much Mr. Minos, please take it back!" Old Man Joyata said, not as ecstatic as his granddaughter.

"I never take back what I give." Minos said sternly, his harsh voice causing Old Man Joyata to second-guess himself.

"Common grandpa, this is a gift from Mr. Minos to us, refusing would be rude!" Jena said.

"... Fine, but from now on you better treat Mr. Minos no differently than you treat me!"

"I've seen how she treats you, just treat me like you always have." Minos said, causing Jena to laugh and Old Man Joyata to scrunch his forehead.

"You two… If you guys weren't three generations apart, I'd swear you could be best friends. Come on Jena, let's go."

"We can still be bestfriends! Anyways get well Mr. Minos, we'll be back soon." Jena said, waving goodbye to Minos as Old Man Joyata gently closed the door behind him.

With the two disappearing and the door shut, Minos's smile quickly disappeared, his mind focused on preparing for the future to come.

The next few days passed in comfort, Minos's health finally getting better as Old Man Joyata purchased the medicine he needed.

After only a few treatments, he already felt much stronger than before, but considering he now had millions to spend, he didn't hold back, having Old Man Joyata prepare the best possible.

With hundreds of thousands invested solely in his betterment, it didn't take long for him to become as good as new, no different from when he first left the Alephora Continent.

"There we go, that should be the last treatment you need. Unless you manage to suddenly age down sixty years, this is about as good as your health will ever get." Old Man Joyata said.

"Thanks for all the help, I feel great." Minos smiled, standing up from the bed, no longer requiring his cane to walk around.

While he wasn't comparable to his younger years, he was still an Inner Heaven Cultivator, so his fitness was still far better then any mortal.

"I'm still impressed your body managed to heal so fast. That cultivation technique of yours is certainly something special."

Smiling, Minos didn't respond, just stretching his body out a few times as he got reorientated with the feeling of using his limbs.

"Oh yes, and here's what's left of your money. I've got all the receipts in there, just so you can make sure I used the money as intended." Old Man Joyata said, handing the spatial ring back to Minos.

"Thanks, but I don't need any receipts, I trust your character." Minos said, patting Old Man Joyata on the shoulder.

Just as Old Man Joyata was getting ready to reply, a loud knock came from the clinic's door, so after excusing himself, he ran off to answer it.

Sitting back on the bed, Minos assumed it was another patient, but it didn't take much time for a familiar looking young man to enter the room.

"You must be Mr. Minos. It's a pleasure to meet you." The young man said courteously, reaching out for a handshake.

"And you are?" Minos replied, not yet returning the greeting.

"Excuse me, I nearly forgot to introduce myself out of excitement. My name is Tolan, I'm the young man that gave up my spot to you the other day."

"Tolan, is it? Well thank you for that, otherwise I may have never had the opportunity." Minos said, finally returning the handshake.

"No, no no, thank you! Had you not taken my spot, none of us would have been able to witness the birth of a new legend!" Tolan said enthusiastically.

"You're quite good at flattery, but tell me, what are you really here for?" Minos said, not one who enjoyed those kinds of words.

"Well then, let me get straight to the point. I'm here with an invitation from Mr. Dethwin, you may have heard of him before."

"Mr. Dethwin, as in the current head of the Dethwin Family?" Old Man Joyata said before Minos could even speak.

"The very same one!" Tolan said.

"Dethwin Family, who are they?" Minos asked.

"You must be new to Blue Beach City, Mr. Minos." Tolan quickly said.

"You could say that."

"Well the Dethwin Family is a long line of hoteliers, in fact the hotel where the chess competition took place is just one of their many locations."

"They own dozens of beach front properties across the Blue Line Continent, as well as a few other establishments." Tolan explained.

"Interesting, they must be very wealthy then."

"Wealthy doesn't do them justice. When it comes to money, the Dethwin Family has a never ending supply of it! Anyways, let me get back to my main point. Mr. Dethwin would like to invite you to a banquet he's holding tomorrow."

Saying that, Tolan handed the invitation to Minos, causing him to overlook it for a second.

Rubbing his fingers across the paper, Minos was slightly surprised, finding out that this was high-grade paper, capable of making Fourth-Moon Talismans.

Even the ink wasn't normal, also being a high-grade spiritual ink that would be used to make similar grade talismans.

Most impressive was the words, which were written with a special flair, one reminiscent of the strokes that went into the creation of a talisman.

With all this coming together, Minos realized this invitation was handcrafted by at least a Fourth-Moon Talisman Master, which further bolstered Tolan's previous claims of the Dethwin Families wealth.

"Interesting… Well, if I have time, I'll make sure to pop in." Minos finally answered, tucking the invitation into his robe.

"Of course! Well then, I won't bother you anymore, take care." Tolan said with a final bow before leaving the room.

Walking him out, Old Man Joyata soon came back, his heart feeling slightly overwhelmed by all the surprises he had seen these past few days.

"So, are you going to go or not?" He asked Minos curiously.

"Like I said, if I have the time." Minos replied.

"You have to go! The Dethwin Family may not yet be a true giant, but they are still very powerful, there's no point offending them."

"You worry too much. A family of that caliber isn't born by constantly forming enemies, in fact I bet even if I went there and spat directly on Mr. Dethwin's face, he wouldn't do anything." Minos said with a laugh.

"You must be crazy!" Old Man Joyata replied, his face pale.

"Relax, I'm just kidding. I'm just saying real life isn't like your novels, people aren't so bloodthirsty."

"Hey, what novels are you talking about?" Old Man Joyata said defensively, his cheeks turning pink.

"Come on now, I've seen your bookshelf. The Eternal Emperor Reborn, The Dragon-Slaying Sword God, The Betrayed Geniuses Ascension. For an old man, you've got pretty juvenile taste." Minos laughed.

"Who told you about those… JENA!" Old Man Joyata shouted, immediately storming off, likely to give Jena the scolding of a lifetime.

Smiling, Minos left the room and the clinic, his health finally being good enough for him to travel the city alone.

Entering the streets, he took a deep breath of the salty air, his lungs filling up, reminding him that he was alive no matter what.

As he walked, he couldn't help but notice a few people point at him as they whispered, likely remembering his appearance from the days before.

Ignoring them, Minos kept walking, but suddenly a young lady bumped it to him, her hands shaky as she raised up a pen and paper towards him.

"Umm, excuse me Mister, but can I please have your signature!" She finally said after spending a second to find the courage.

"Uhhh, no problem." Minos said, a little confused, but signing her paper nonetheless.
