27 Aura

Zhang Wei was at a loss. While he was glad that nothing happened. He nevertheless, was quite worried that he had no idea what was going on.

The unknown was always a fear in the hearts of people. Zhang Wei was no exception.

In fact, due to his nature, he was even more perceptive towards the unknown.

However, he realized that in regards to the Author or the Overpowered System, he had no way of interfering with their natures. They are things that he, frankly, could not hold a candle to. And this instilled a fear in him.

Will he continue living his life dictated by others and have his life be at the mercy of existences that he cannot comprehend? He doesn't know.

In fact, he couldn't even think of that. But he still had a clear control over his own will. So he knows, that he will never completely submit.

No, he would rather die than submit.

He made himself a mental note as to always be wary of both the system and the Author. Until he could find clues as to what both of them truly are.

"Sir Zhang, are you alright?" Asyraaf asked concerned. He was so worried that he even forgot to use Zhang Wei's cover name.

Asyraaf's question brought Zhang Wei back to reality. Zhang Wei didn't realize how deep he was in thought. To not look suspicious in front of Asyraaf, he answered calmly, "I'm fine. Why do you ask?"

"Well... Sir Zhang's aura changed... a few times." He didn't know how to put it mildly. He continued, "At one point, Sir Zhang's aura was especially um... weak. Then suddenly it started to distort and then it disappeared for a split second, before returning back to the way it was before. I was afraid something had happened to Sir Zhang."

Martial Practitioners, since they can control the Spirit Energy, are very sensitive towards aura. To them auras are basically, the embodiment of the strength and condition of a Martial Practitioner.

If a Martial Practitioners lose their aura, it either means that they have become mortal, or they have died. So it was no wonder Asyraaf was worried.

As to how a person releases said aura or what the origin of aura is, it is not entirely known yet.

Many experts have tried to theorize, but none have succeeded in establishing a solid fact.

If a Martial Practitioner's aura is weak or fragile, it either means that they are in a weak condition, or they have little Spirit Energy count.

Inversely, if a Martial Practitioner's aura is domineering, that means the Martial Practitioner has an abundance of Spirit Energy.

Experts have used this fact to make the conclusion that, Spirit Energy can only exist in the dome, which in this case is the body.

While Martial Practitioner's have almost full control over their Spirit Energy, some will leak out.

The aura released is the Spirit Energy that have transformed when they are leaked out of the body. Though it's not the best theory, it is the most likely case.

As to how this is related to strength, well in most cases Spirit Energy can only be increased by ranking up in levels, this means that the stronger the Martial Practitioner's aura, the more likely they are experts.

This is one of the reason's why when Zhang Wei first saved Aron and co. from the White Wolves pack, they knew immediately that Zhang Wei was a strong expert. His aura made them feel pressured.

And since aura is measured by the amount of Spirit Energy, Zhang Wei retained his aura even when his other stats have been restricted. Though with a slight drawback.

Zhang Wei knew that his aura changed quite a bit. But he never thought that it had disappeared, even for a split second.

"It was nothing, I was actually trying out a skill that could mask my aura." Zhang Wei needed an excuse, so he just thought of some random shit. But when you actually look at it, it was actually quite logical.

"Oh! Sir Zhang had a skill to mask your aura? That's amazing." He was genuinely surprised. That kind of skill was unheard of.

Though considering Zhang Wei's strength, it wasn't impossible. He probably killed a powerful person or creature that had this ability.

They then started idle chatter and talked about the academy. Zhang Wei used this chance to asked about that asshole teacher Mr Murton. Was he actually capable of teaching students to achieve Level 2?

Asyraaf was not surprised by Zhang Wei's skepticism, a person of that attitude would be hard to work with.

"Actually, I asked a few of his previous students, and they told me they hated that teacher because he was too self centered. His capabilities were quite average.."

"How so?"

"Well, for starters, the students that he 'taught' all had Great aptitudes, so reaching Level 2 was something that was bound to happen anyways."

While that was technically true since aptitudes basically give the students faster cultivation progress depending on the grade, it was still quite impossible to level up that quickly.

Asyraaf saw Zhang Wei's expression and knew exactly what Zhang Wei was thinking. "Sir Zhang, yes it is impossible to level up that quickly, even with Great aptitude. But that is, without external help."

Zhang Wei's eyes widened. The sick teacher had told him about this in his lesson. Leveling up quickly took quite some time, but if you use external pills or medicine, it can be sped up.

However, this has its own fair share of side effects.

That being, this type of medicine, would exhaust the consumer's aptitude. In other words, the person could only level up once after eating the medicine, and after that, can never progress at all.

This type of medicine, was banned by the academy because it can destroy a student's future.

In fact, one could even say it was not even medicine at all, instead poison.

To think that a teacher would actually use a medicine like this to improve his reputation. Especially since they all had Great aptitudes. Those with Great aptitudes, could reach at the very least Level 3 Martial Practitioner. Such a despicable act.

Zhang Wei could not help but ask, "How did he not get punished?"

Asyraaf heard that and his expression turned grim, "Well for one, there was not enough evidence to convict him.

The medicine, left no trail behind, and while the fact that the students' improvements have stopped, they could not actually pin it on the teacher." There was a hint of anger in Asyraaf's voice.

"The second one is, he is apart of the Murton Family, one of the 10 Great Families."
