5 Attending Practical Class

"Yanyan, when we enter the city, you can just call Master, Big Brother Ren. No need to call Master." Wu Juren instructed.

Although there were families that do employ servants from a young, none were as young as Yanyan. He did not want to be mistaken as a child trafficker or lolicon. That sort of mental damage was too much, even for someone with his mental fortitude.

"Okay~."

When they entered the city, Yanyan started running around, looking at all the interesting stores on the streets. Food stores were plenty, some of which specialized sweet food. These kinds of food stores appealed to children a lot.

"Waaaa~."

Yanyan was immediately attracted over by the aroma. Wu Juren chuckled and followed her.

"Boss, how much for two sweet meatball skewers?"

Wu Juren held onto Yanyan, afraid that she would snatch all the skewers if he did not. He had a moneymaking scheme in mind, but he was a broke ass for the time being.

"It'll be six copper coins."

Wu Juren nodded. This was still something he can afford.

"Here you go."

After receiving the two sweet meatball skewers, he handed one to Yanyan and kept the other one.

Spirits do not go hungry when there is spiritual qi to absorb. They only eat to indulge their sense of taste.

Yanyan's eyes lit up when she was handed the sweet meatball skewer. She received it with delight and devoured it in a matter of seconds.

After Yanyan finished, she started looking at Wu Juren with shining eyes...

...Or rather, she was looking at the skewer in his hands.

"Here…"

Feeling a bit helpless, Wu Juren handed his skewer to Yanyan.

Munch* Munch*

The meatballs were devoured clean, and Yanyan proceeded to lick the sauce stain on her fingers. Seeing some sauce on the edge of her mouth, Wu Juren thoughtfully bent down and wiped it with his thumb.

Yanyan grabbed his hand right after and licked it clean as well. He was speechless at her crazed appetite.

"Was it delicious?"

"Mm! Mn! It was delicious! Thank you, Mast—Big Brother Ren."

Yanyan nodded happily.

"It's good that you like it, but Big Brother doesn't have much money left. Wait until Big Brother hand in the herbs and earn some money, then we can go eat more yummy food."

"Money is needed to eat yummy food?"

Yanyan scratched her head in confusion, unaware of the concept of money. She never had to pay for anything back home. Whatever she wanted, she would get, free of charge.

"Yes, when you want something from other people, you have to give something back in return. These coins are the most accepted form of currency for exchange. If you only know how to take and not to give, people will suffer. Do you understand?"

Wu Juren imparted the values of money.

"I understand, Big Brother Ren."

"It's good if you understand."

Wu Juren rubbed Yanyan's head.

"Let's go earn some money, then Big Brother will take Yanyan to go eat more delicious food."

They headed back to the academy.

A lot of people gave second glances at Yanyan as Wu Juren passed them by. He paid no heed to them and made his way to the mission hall.

"Elder, I'm here to hand in my mission."

Wu Juren handed in his mission plaque and 20 stalks of Blue Silver Grass to the elder in charge of receiving complete missions.

"En, 20 stalks of Blue Silver Grass. 2 silver coins, take it."

The reward was relatively high for the task due to the potential dangers outside the city walls. The compensation was also relatively generous for students.

After Wu Juren took the money, he was prepared to leave when the elder's words rang out.

"Young man, I see that you had quite a good harvest today. You must have ventured quite deep into the mountain. While there are more herbs, the deeper you venture, the herbs are not as important as your life. You must remember to prioritize your safety."

"Thank you for the elder's teaching. This student will remember." Wu Juren answered perfunctorily before leaving.

"Haiz, youngsters these days don't know what's good for them."

The elder shook his head.

Leaving the mission hall, Yanyan tugged on his robe.

"Big Brother, I'm tired," Yanyan complained.

"Ah? I'm sorry, Yanyan. How careless of Big Brother. Do you want to rest in my spiritual world?" Wu Juren asked.

Spiritual worlds are a unique subspace within the minds of summoners, formed at the time of their first successful contract.

"Mm."

Yanyan nodded.

"Alright, come in."

Seeing no one was around, Wu Juren gave her the signal. Shortly after, Yanyan transformed into a ball of light and disappeared into his forehead.

Wu Juren forgot that Yanyan was still a little girl, even if she was a higher-level spirit. He had made her walked around on her own two feet. The thought made him guilty. He silently decided to buy her more treats next time.

Wu Juren recalled that a practical class on magic was about start shortly, and decided to attend it.

He was the only 16-year-old in first grade. His previous classmates had already all advanced to second grade. No matter how good his magic theory was, he could not pass if he fails all his practical exam.

"Huh? Wu Juren is attending practical class."

Someone noticed Wu Juren heading over and blurted out. Immediately, everyone turned their heads and direct all sorts of gazes at Wu Juren.

Wu Juren proceeded over with a calm look.

In the past, he would just skip practical classes and only attend theoretical classes. He had given up after failing to cast magic spells of the four elements every time he attended. Perhaps things would be different this time. He did not need to be fixated on magic spells of the four elements.

A while later, the practical teacher, Hua Xiaomei, arrived and became taken aback by the new face.

She was a new teacher who recently graduated from the academy and chosen to continue her studies as a teacher. She was still young and beautiful, and students enjoyed attending her practical lessons.

Hua Xiaomei did not know that Wu Juren was part of her class since Wu Juren never attended any of her previous lessons during the year.

Secretly, Hua Xiaomei labeled Wu Juren as one of her hot-headed pursuers, joining her practical classes for the sake of admiring her. With that conclusion, Hua Xiaomei intended to make things difficult for him.

If the old Wu Juren knew what she was thinking, he would have cried out injustice, but the grey world experience had strengthened his mentality. He could not care less about what the young teacher was thinking. He only came for attendance and experience.

"Alright, class. Pay attention. As we have discussed in our previous class, Borg is the most fundamental spell a mage must master. A mastered Borg will ultimately save your life at some point. So, make sure to study well. Let me give you a demonstration of the Borg spell when mastered."

[Borg]

A spherical barrier of light wrapped around Hua Xiaomei and covered her entire being without any opening. Within the Borg, six shining rings circulated around her body, signifying she was a 6-circle Mage.

"By limiting the spell's chanting to one word, we can invoke the spell in the quickest manner. As first-year students, I do not expect any of you to achieve a single-word chant yet. If you can construct a perfectly round Borg, it would be considered a pass by me. Everyone had to start somewhere and can only improve their speed with practice from there. That student over there, how about giving it a try first?"

After finishing her explanation, Hua Xiaomei directly asked Wu Juren to be the first volunteer. Everyone followed Teacher Hua's line of sight and became startled when it landed on Wu Juren.

Wu Juren had a placid look, but he inwardly felt his luck was pretty bad. He had not attempted the Borg spell before, but it won't fail him like the magic spells from the four elements, right? After all, Borg was a non-attribute spell.

Pfft!

"Big Sister Xiaomei, even if you give him all the time in the world to chant, he would not be able to invoke a single spell successfully." A student jeered.

Due to their small age gap, the students address Hua Xiaomei as 'Big Sister Xiaomei' rather than 'Teacher Hua.'

Everyone laughed at that comment.

"What?"

Hua Xiaomei was surprised by everyone's attitude towards Wu Juren before frowning right after.

"Even if he is not from our class, there's no need to ridicule him like that, right?"

"What are you talking about, Big Sister Xiaomei? He IS from our class. He's the famous Wu Juren. Who doesn't know him?"

"What? He is THE Wu Juren?"

Hua Xiaomei was shocked.

She felt the name was familiar but failed to make the connection. Only after being reminded did realization dawned on her. She regretted misunderstanding Wu Jurens presence and making things difficult for him.

As Wu Juren stepped forward, Hua Xiaomei wanted to apologize to him. However, she was immediately tongue-tied by what she saw in the next moment.

In the blink of an eye, a perfectly round Borg had wrapped around Wu Juren with his 3 manifested spiritual rings circulating around him.
