6 Chapter 5

Andrianna was sitting in Marshal's lap held closely while Mrs. Anderson called the police and informed them of the incident.

Yet, they seemed so far away from here.

Waiting, for the cars to arrive.

After what seemed like minutes a car pulled into her driveway. It was pure white, except for the strip of blue and the letters of Vile Parle Police Station painted on the door. The hood of the car had flashing lights and a loud sound emitted from the car.

Two men filed out of the car, clad in Persian blue uniforms, and a matching hat, they walked into Andrianna's home.

Andrianna looked at the two men as they stood in front of her, introducing themselves as Andrew Bishop and Winston Schmidt.

Andrew was a tall young man with fair skin and short brown hair. Andrianna liked his eyes, they were a shade of bright blue. Like an ocean. He was new here, she could tell. Not because he was young but because his eyes were sad, this was much different from that of his partners.

His deep black eyes showed no sorrow. They were the eyes of a man who had seen evil before. A man so accustomed to it that he felt nothing inside. Just calm. The little folds of skin at the side of his eyes were aged, they held no joy.

Andrianna pitied the man. She wished she could make Winston smile. But, something told her he had faced a loss so dear once that he might be beyond redemption.

For a 7-year-old such observation was unusual. But then again she was no longer a child. She had tasted evil last night and this would forever haunt her eyes.

"Hello Andrianna", officer Bishop greeted Andrianna, " I hear you were there in the house last night. Is it true?"

Andrianna nodded.

"Did you see anything?" Andrew asked. Hoping for the sake of the child that the answer to this question would be no.

Hoping against all odds that the little girl had been protected from the dark events of the night before.

But to his dismay, Andrianna nodded again.

"Now I know you are sad. But would you like to tell us what happened?"

"Not with marshal here"

Marshal looked down at the child surprised that his daughter was not only brave enough to talk about what had happened but to also consider his feelings. It almost made him smile. Francis would have been proud.

The officers nodded in agreement and took Andrianna into a private room accompanied by Mrs. Anderson.

Andrianna narrated everything that had happened the previous night. Leaving her mother out of the story. She did not know why but she continued to feel the need to protect her. She believed that whatever her mother did the night before was because the devil eyed man had cast a spell on her. That she was under his control.

"Do you know the man was?"

"No."

"Can you describe him?"

"Yes. He was the man with devil eyes."
