Chapter 1 Anomalies

In the soul realm, the place were souls where born and where they went to once they died to either be destroyed or washed from any attachment and then reincarnated in a new body.

The soul realm didn't follow the same laws of physics as a normal tridimensional universe, as it was a the place where souls, a higher dimensional object that couldn't even be observed by tridimensional beings, was created.

The realm was watched for any anomalies by two Gods, the God of Reincarnation who controlled where the specific souls would end up, and the God of Souls, who controlled the rate at which the souls themselves where produced by the realm.

The souls were white, almost always, but there were exceptions, sometimes an anomalous soul would be born with special properties, for example heightened perception, nurturing a stronger body or improved esthetics.

The possibilities were virtually endless and nobody, not even the two Gods that controlled the realm where capable of predicting or causing the birth of this type of soul and it was incredibly rare, it happened only once or twice in a given multiversal Cycle.

So when two souls, one green and one blue, came into existence at exactly the same time, side by side, the two Gods were bound to take notice.

The Gods weren't normal existences either, they both were higher dimensional beings for whom time, space and distance held no meaning, they also didn't communicate in a normal manner.

They appeared out of nowhere, with their cloudy, gaseous bodies and 'looked' at each other, taking a decision instantly that the other would be fine with.

The God of Souls didn't do anything, as this wasn't his role, but the God of Reincarnation sent away both souls to the same universe in the same time, it ignored what kind of universe it was and it didn't care either.

They didn't have souls, they were not bound by flesh so they could not understand things by a tridimensional beings point of view, nor did they care about it.

They just kept going with their job not caring about the rest, for eternity.

So they left without giving this matter any other thought.

---------------------------

"Congratulations Anne, it's a beautiful boy" said the villages midwife as she passed the small bundle of happiness to the new mother.

The woman Anne-Marie Ackerman was breathing heavily, she was a Ackerman only by marriage, so she lacked their strong body which she always envied her husband for.

"Pass me... my child" she demanded while taking a pause in the middle, she would take a while to reach again the apex of her physical abilities.

The villages midwife wasted no time, she wiped the child a bit and gave it to the mother, she then left the room to give the good news to the people outside.

A few seconds later a man, perfectly average in height, and his longish black hair gave him a calm feeling, which coupled with his slim build and deep black eyes made him feel like a slightly cold person.

And cold he was, to anyone outside of the woman he loved and of his family.

Meanwhile, the woman had reddish hair and brown eyes, she was disheveled but still you could still see her beautiful face beneath the tiredness she demonstrated.

The man, Hardwin Ackerman, came by his wife's side and side hugged her while looking at their child.

The baby had his father's corvine hair, but his eyes were different from but of them, they were of a beautiful emerald green color.

They both found it slightly weird, but neither really cared, the only thing that mattered was that he was born safely, things like appearance were secondary.

The two kept hugging until the midwife came back to give the child a bath and an early check up for any potential problem, when she found no problem she gave the child back to the neo parents and left to go to meet the couple next door, the wife there had been pregnant for nine months already and was due any day now.

---------------------------

Five years later, in a small village within the mountains near Shiganshina, two children were currently running around together, laughing happily.

The male was well built, had pitch black hair and beautiful emerald green eyes, while the girl had red hair and sapphire blue eyes.

They were Klemens Ackerman and Liesl Stark respectively, both were completely normal children that played together and helped in the family.

The village only had a few dozen inhabitants were they lived together as a community and helped each other.

They lived mostly of meat from wild animals, eggs from the chickens they had raised for generations and of the grains and fruits from the lands and trees near the village.

Life wasn't extremely hard and everyone was relatively happy, they had no worries and the kingdom didn't know of their existence so they lived free from outside interference, everyone there had circumstances that prevented them from living freely outside or were descendants of someone who does.

The two children were playing with a small coin given by the boys father.

"So? What's it going to be this time?" he was talking about their game.

"Heads" she said fully sure of her choice.

"Then I'll pick tails" he said not fully caring.

"Tails" "But how!? I clearly felt that heads would come out, you cheater"

"Eheh, I'm just that good" he answered to her complaint.

They both had a special ability, albeit limited, the boy was abnormally lucky, while the girl had abnormally sharp instincts.

Most of things that involved a luck factor would go in a way that facilitated him, first of all coin toss for example, he has still never lost a game of chance in his life.

The girl on the other hand, had instincts so sharp they bordered on precognition, for example against anybody but him she would win any and all games based on chance as she could feel what the outcome would be since before the game started.

He was the only exception, before the coin was tossed she could clearly feel that heads would come out, but the moment he tossed it her instincts changed and told her that tail would come out.

"Your dumb luck is unfair!" she said poutingly to the boy, he was the only one against whom she couldn't win in any chance game, clearly ignoring the fact that her instincts had her winning unilaterally against anyone else.

"Life is unfair" he repeated while looking at the horizon the words his father once said when he lost for the hundredth consecutive time in a single day at coin tosses, he didn't really understand the meaning being them, but they seemed cool so he repeated them.

"Then how about this, the one who reaches that tree faster can ask one thing from the other" said the girl after growling a bit.

"You're on" he answered, clearly confident in his stronger physique.

"Well then, three... two... one... Go!" she said while simultaneously straightening her leg when he started dashing to trip him and have him fall.

She emitted a burst of laughter and started running, taking five seconds he took to get himself together and stand up again, but when he managed to do so she was already long gone and he didn't feel like trying for something he had no chance on.

So ha lazily decided to just start walking toward their objective, once he reached there his opponent had long been waiting for him with a smug smile on her face.

"So, I immagine you have a request ready, what do you want" he asked while pissed off, even if she cheated there technically were no rules against shoving the other person to the ground and he pulled tricks like this off every time they played so letting her win just once wouldn't be a bad thing.

"I want you to ask your father to teach us both how to fight!" she asked her most annoying request as of yet, the little ball of excitement was opposed by a low grunt of annoyance by her interlocutor, who would rather just go to sleep than train.

He already accepted his fate, but he at least had to put up a token defense "Why would you want to even learn that, we live in peace and no outsider knows about the village"

"Danger comes when you least expect it, or so my father told me, so I'm making sure to always expect danger so that I'll never be in actual danger, so promise me you'll train with me" she answered without wasting a second to say her answer as she took a step nearer to him.

She was extremely close, their noses almost touching as she looked at him straight in the eyes, pressuring him with all the hope she could manage.

He hesitated for a bit, his father taught him that promises were something that he should never break so he should never make one easily, but the way she looked at him convinced him of doing so "I promise"

She was extremely happy about his promise and so she decided explain her second motivation "And most of all, I want an excuse to beat you up, and what better excuse than 'It's just a training, no need to worry if his arm is bent the other way'"

'She's starting to get creepy again, better run' he knew that when she shrouded herself in her weird fantasies it would be very difficult to make her snap out of it.

"I wonder how you'd look while crying out in pain, my Kle would be so cute" she said while contorting herself and hugging her sides with a flushed expression and a really creepy smile on her face.

A shiver went through his spine, 'Run' he thought, and running was what exactly what he did.

---------------------------

"Let me get this straight, you two, two five year olds, want me to train you to the best standard?" said an aged asian man with black hair, he was clearly confused by the situation he was currently in.

"Yeah" said both in unison.

"But why? Why would you want to do that?" why would two five year olds have a reason to become stronger, the two had never even met a soldier in their life to boot, who do they even want to fight?

"I want to destroy the walls!" said the little girl.

"I lost a bet" said the little boy clearly less interested in becoming strong than his little friend.

The father of the boy was chuckled a bit at his son's answer, but soon realized what the girl had said, destroying the walls?

Did she even know the reason behind the existence of the walls?

"Why would you want to do that?" he asked to he little girl with confused expression on his face, if some of those maniacs that worshipped the walls heard her they would crucify her even if she was just a child.

"Mom said that the walls keep us inside a small space completely cut off from the outside world" she started, but stopped for a second to see if the older man could follow her speech.

'Does this brat think I can't follow such basic knowledge?' he thought annoyed, he knew far better than her what the walls were for, they existed to protect all of humanity from the titans from outside, and he knew that her mother told her about the titans too, things didn't add up.

He nodded at her, motioning her to keep going, but wanted to chop her head when he saw a smug smile on her face, but his son preceded him in doing so.

"OW! why did you even do that?" she asked flabbergasted.

"Cause your face pissed me off, and go back to telling your crazy purpose" he told her while dismissing her with a wave of his hand.

"It's my glorious purpose, not my crazy purpose, but anyway I don't like the fact that my survival is only thanks to that small wall" she said

'What do you mean small, those things are big as heck' the more she kept going the more the older man was confused.

"Therefore I will become so strong that wether there is a wall or not it won't matter" she said with a big smile on her face.

The older man was stunned, but soon enough started laughing, no need to burst her bubble yet, but soon it turned into a self deprecating smile 'No human can resist the fear of those things' he knew that much better than others.

"And you, son, do you think the same way as her?"

"Meh, I don't really care, but..." he said with a small smile on his face, before it turned into the most serious expression the father had ever seen on his son't face "But I promised I'll train with her, so I'll do it"
