1 School

"Freak" I hear the word spoken seeming from nowhere as I wake up. I blankly stare at my ceiling, seconds pass as I suddenly start flailing my arms around in frustration. Having a rare childish tantrum, I sigh and get out of bed as I have school after we had just moved again. Freshening up quickly, I head downstairs to give a small smile to my mother.

Giving her the daily hug in the morning that I've made into my greeting, she being short has to reach high up to pat my head. Proceeding to bend my legs and slouch my body, I made it easier for my mother to rub my head as the only signs showing I enjoy it is my closed eyes and that I even allowed it.

Not expecting me to make any conversation especially in the morning, she points to my plate of breakfast to which I internally think of how she spoils me too much. Quickly eating a few bites, my lack of appetite makes me feel the desire to throw up. Pushing it back down, I grab my bag and check myself in the mirror.

A small and bruised child with black hair and simple brown eyes looks back. Closing my eyes for a few seconds, I open them back up to see the person I am now. A seeming androgynous teen. Dyed dark blue hair. Long enough to wrap it into a bun but I leave it as it is. The lack of life can be seen in my eyes. Shrugging it off, I walk past my mother as I pat her head as I leave the house.

The sight of my mother watching me walk off to school as I remain clueless about it. Sighing to herself, she seems to apologize out loud to her son Atlas as he walks off. If I had heard her, I would've simply shake my head refusing to accept anything was my mother's fault.

Arriving at school, I make my way to my class as I proceed to collapse entirely onto it. Laying my head on my desk, I proceed to pass out happily as I ignore the requests from the teacher to wake up and pay attention. An hour seems to pass as I'm woken up to the bell ringing. As I sigh and drag myself out of my desk, I stumble out of the classroom as I lazily rub my eyes to try and fix the horrible vision I was born with.

Roughly bumping into someone, I ignore it as I continue walking before I'm grabbed roughly by the arm to which I throw my other arm and elbow back aiming for the jaw at whoever it was. Why did I do that? It could've been my lack of joy at being grabbed so roughly or the fact that I did it on a mere feeling I had. Following the momentum of my hip due to my elbow, I'm not exactly surprised to see my elbow not sending some poor cocky kid across the hallway. I tend to trust the gut feelings I get.

Instead, I see the sight of two hands holding my elbow from making contact with their face. Lowering my elbow, I see the sight of a girl still holding my elbow as she smiles at me. "Pleasure to meet you Atlas. I'm your student council president Layla and I'm glad to finally meet be able to meet our new student-"

Shrugging off her hands from my elbow, I walk off ignoring her. My thoughts clouding my mind instead as I mindlessly walk the student filled halls. I wonder...are all students here as weird as their president? Not at all influenced by her good looks and merely weirded out by how she looked into me and how I'm a new student.

Shaking my thoughts away, I head to my next class as I proceed to pass out again like last time. Waking up to the bell again, I drag myself lazily to my other classes before lunch finally arrives. Not really knowing where to go as all the students seem to be going different ways seeming to meet up with their friends first, I decide to explore the school instead of heading to the cafeteria.

Deciding my first destination, I search for stairs leading upwards as I follow the steps. Seeing the now empty hallways upstairs, I spot an exit leading to the roof. Attempting to push it, I'm a little surprised to see a school leaving their rooftop open for anyone as it opens.

Seeing the beautiful sight of clouds spread across the sky as the sun gently shines, I can't help but bask in the peace and warmth. Laying down on the middle of the roof, I decide to close my eyes.
