It had been eighteen days since my last conversation with the fire lord. In precisely 5 days it'll be my 8th birthday. You could say I'm excited whist also dreading it as I'm sure my dutiful uncle Ozai has some plan cooked up or will act at the party.
Currently it's early in the morning and to my surprise a maid which belonged to azulon was at my door. " prince Mael, general Iroh is set to arrive at 11 am I was given the task of informing you. Now it is complete I shall return to my duties." Giving her a nod I decided to head back to my court yard and prepare for Irohs vist. ' whist I'm getting ready I think I should check Azula and zukos progress.'

'Hmm it appears Azula has hit a wall in fire bending, blue flames are said be blessed by the fire spirit. Maybe she really was blessed and if so it should happen soon.' It's not that I'm really complaining but the longer she takes the better my position becomes as it sets apart our talent.

It had taken some time to review my relationship status and status of the twins, so much so that I didn't even notice that the time to meet Iroh and my older brother at the gates had passed. If fact I actually feel asleep under the tree in my court yard as although the fire nation is a very hot country to me it feels perfect due to sunshine and as such very relaxing.
Sleeping under the tree my nose couldn't help but catch the dent of jasmine tea. Remembering correctly the only person close to me who enjoys such a drink is my father iroh. As my eyes flutter open I can hear him make his comment " every person has something that brings peace to their mind. While mine is brewing and drinking tea yours may be sleeping under the sun. I'm sure you'll be a great fire bender someday hahaha" finishing his little speech he couldn't help but let out a little laugh at the fact I've been sleeping under this tree from the moment I could walk.
" do you not know why you where called back father" after taking in the sentence from before I decided to move along the conversation. " I don't child but what I do know is that I'll get to spend time with you on your birthday and so will your brother" i large smile pressed his lips since he didn't get to spend much time with me due to the war and his goal of conquering Ba sing Sa. Looking up at iroh I decided to tell him. " well farther due to my talent in fire bending I've been officially excepted by fire lord Azulon into the royal family. He's throwing a birthday party as a show of power to an ounce that I'm officially expected. " after this Iroh turned silent for second and took a sip of tea. " that is great news my boy I can see why he called me back to be present, how about you show me this great talent ay" with a smirk Iroh couldn't help but challenge so I would respond in kind " maybe by the end of today I'll be called the dragon of the west" after that we both stood up whist Iroh let out a hearty laugh patted me on the shoulder and made our way towards the training ground.
After a few minutes and some small talk we arrived at the training ground. Walking to an empty area me and Iroh separated. With a distance of 15 meters between us Iroh spoke in a calm tone " come at me when ever your ready Mael" even though he looked relaxed and unprepared Irohs body was like a coiled snake ready to strike its prey.
Nodding towards my father I took a deep breath and with every inhale azure flames lit up around me produced. Sticking forward with my fist a condensed shot to fire shot towards Iroh. In turn Iroh smoothly side stepped my attack before looking at me with a raised eyebrow.
Surprise was visible on Irohs face as he never expected blue flames but even so it was but a moment of shock before the aura of a warrior took hold over him. The temperature of my flames is around 2300 degrees Celsius.
stepping forward I began to strike Iroh sending out a whip of fire. As I did so Irohs countered with a fire shield redirecting my fire along his right side.
Father carried on using that action to block my view as he performed a perfectly roundhouse kick sending out an ark of fire.
The ark left no gap from the floor leaving me the option ever to enter the sky or go through the attack. Although Irohs flames where not as distructive or carried as high a temperature the control he had was outlandish. Iroh was a grandmaster fire bender who could easily control my flames to do his own bidding let alone the ones he generated.
Visible In the fire you could tell it moved both left, right, up and down simultaneously meaning the attack couldn't be dispersed without it ricochet onto my body. This left me with up, having no choice I expelled fire from my feet causing me to do a large jump into the sky. Quickly I conjured more fire whist creating it into a downwards ark whist trying to implement what Iroh did previously.
Although I didn't have as much control it worked well with my destructive potency as if Iroh attempted to parry it again it would be increasingly difficult.
Suddenly something I didn't expect happened. Iroh used combustion bending to attack my from behind whist I decided the explosion caused the speed of my descent to increase exponentially. As a result I couldn't help but crash into the ground.
Although nothing broke it was still extremely painful. Most of my back and chest will be bruised as a result but still I gain much from the short spare I had with my father.
Decided it was best to leave it here I remaining in the small crater. I could hear Iroh approaching, stopping at the top of my crater I could hear a laugh escape his lips. " a genius Indeed, but still to wet behind the ears to beat this old man. What did you say earlier? You'll take my title. Best joke I've hear in a few years. Hahahaha " as he stood laughing I crawled out . At this point in time their is probably only a handful of fire benders stronger then me. Azulon, Iroh, Ozai and Jeong Jeong, But they where only that fire ahead due to age by the time I'm 15 I'll easily have surpassed that all at the rate I'm going.
Sitting at the edge of the training ground whist applying some ointment onto my back to lessen the bruising I turned to Iroh one again but this time I didn't say anything. ' hey system show me irohs stats and our relationship'

Seeing my fathers status just goes to show how little I've learned and how weak I really am. 'Since greater flame control is a step above the control I have currently but control is harder to learn as I mostly just focus on power.
Whist my fire is more powerful it doesn't matter if father can just bend it out the way which I guarantee he could, Iroh just chose not to as it wouldn't really be a duel.' Looking at the list of things I had to learn still I sighed. Lightning bending and redirecting, combustion bending and further improve my hand to hand. These next few years will truely be filled with large amounts of effort.
