“Eventful” birthday (edited)

Over the next five days I trained dutifully with Iroh since this was a rare chance for us we had some father son bonding time. However Iroh was a slave driver when it came to training. Workouts and bending practice had never been so intense but I could already see the results as my control over fire began to increase at greater levels then before.

Today was my birthday and also the day of the party. In truth I was wondering what my uncle would attempt to do as sabotage. The day passed by quickly as I didn't train due to the party and spent my time in a social room where Iroh, my brother, Azula, Zuko, Ursa, Ty Lee and Mai where present we played card games and even some type of war game related to conquest, in the game you played as one of the nations and had to conquer the world.

Surprisingly it didn't last long because as you would expect Azula lost her cool and burned a hole in the bored when she was conquered, it took us ages to even start the game as Azula demanded she be the fire nation. The best part about it I was the one that caused it, Turing the air nomands into bloodthirsty warriors proved very effective.

The whole day passed uneventfully but soon it would be time for the party. Turning to the clock and seeing it read 6pm and knowing in two hours I had to attended I decided to prepare for it and just laze around for awhile.

After picking out and attire which consisted of a traditional fire nation robe. I could tell that it was high quality as it seemed to have gold embroidery. Unsurprisingly I didn't originally own this outfit. Azulon prepared it as a birthday gift and also as something to ware during the party. Since it was his decree I really had no choice.

After freshening up I walked out into the bedroom to find some maids waiting for me.

"Price Mael the fire lord has order us to prepare you for the party" without even waiting for a response i was pushed to my dresser my hair was tied traditionally so that it would match the style of outfit worn. After my sunshine reached level 5 my eyes turned a golden like colour like most members of the royal family. It was believed that the more gold your eyes the higher one's talent in fire bending.

After the maids meticulously prepared me for the party I couldn't help but notice that they were only around 13-14 years old. " you're a little to young to be working no?" Asking that they both froze as if turned to stone " no prince mael it is typical for nobles that possess the rank barren to send their daughters to be maids in higher house holds. Also we are still in training so we aren't technically working since we still have about 2 years left" even after that I still disliked the idea of people so young working.

'They'll probably be azulas maids once they finish training'

Once they finished it turned out the party would begin in around 10 minutes so I made my way to the venue which was a giant ball room. Once at the door my arrival was announced by the guards.

Walking through the doors I saw a throne area place above everyone and it even had a seat for me to the left of Iroh whist slightly behind. Walking up and taking my seat which was equal to my older brother did shock some people as this made them realise why the event was held.

As the last of the guests began to settle Azulon stood up and walked to edge of the step and began to give a small speech. " seven years ago on this day my son Iroh adopted a boy into the royal family to say I was displeased was an understatement." Taking a pause a few of the more prideful nobles quietly giggled before he continued.

"However, that child has shown such an incredible talent in fire bending that I can't help but expect him. He has surpassed all 3 royal heirs and so on this day Mael sol, you are officially recognised as royalty and prince of the fire nation " after that he turned around and walk back to his seat. Whist signaling maid to approach for a drink.

Looking over the crowd you could see some already cooking up plans to ever use me or wished to work with. The fire nation was quite simply a political mine field.

After this the party began I turned to Azula, Zuko and my brother and we began talking about mundane matters. The conquest of Ba sing sa, our training, if my brother had any interest in dating. After I while I made a decision which caused my adoptive family to grimace.

" it's time to socialise with the nobles don't you think?" to this Iroh who was seated near by, my brother and the twins nodded. Standing up first I walk of the stage and headed towards the buffet whist grabbing a glass of wine from a waitress but just as I was about to take a sip Iroh moved quickly removing the glass from my hand " your too young for this mael maybe on your twelfth birthday you can have a singular glass. "

I watched as he proceeds to drink the glass I got for myself only to realise it was mostly like the last one before they rotated their who carry drinks.

Arriving at the table where the buffet was I began to fill a plate with food whist making some small talk with the current nobles and even socialised with children my age other then Azula, Zuko, Ty lee and Mai. It was nice being with other people as it was pretty rare and the palace would become lonely.

The party trailed on and I was getting surrounded by both girls and boys of my generation as well as one generation above mine.

So around all the guests between 8-15 where currently around me. In the corner of my eye I see Ozai doing something, he was whispering in some 15-14 year olds ear. At first I took no notice of it but as the older girl I was talking to was becoming more engaged in speaking with me I could tell he was getting angrier and angrier. 'This little fucker was jealous that I'm talking to this girl'.

Seeing the boys rising emotion a sharp Cheshire like smile graced my lips. 'who wouldn't I be if I couldn't annoy someone at my own party, shame Azula is to far away. You'll have to do'.

Due to me being abnormally talk for my age I was about a head higher then the girl. Grabbing her chin I pulled her forward with a hand on her waist. Just as I was about to kiss her I heard a shout " Mael sol I challenge you to an Agni Kai!"

Every one quickly turned to see the boy who exploding with anger at moment ago. Looking at him with a shocked expression hiss man who I can only assume is his father shouted back " Sandril! what nonsense are you shouting?!" Just as the Sandril was about to respond Azulon stood up and shouted back. "It's far too late for that, he has imitated Agni Kai. The only way this ended is with one being burned"

After that announcement everyone expected it since going against the fire lord was suicidal. Even for the noble faction who disagreed with the level of power royals held within their faction knew what could and couldn't be pushed. So the boy and I would have no help in the maters to come.

Afterwards everyone went towards the area specifically for the event known as Agni Kai. Me and the teenager named Sandril were positioned 15 metres away from each other.

Just then azulon annouced with a boom, " combatants ready, begin" as he finished a cannon sounded In The distance
