It was a crisp, clear Friday afternoon at Crescent High. The sun was dipping low, casting long shadows across the school's bustling courtyard. Among the students, five friends were particularly lively: Jake Marshall, Sarah Green, Liam Carter, Emily Bennett, and Alex Fisher.

Jake, with his tousled brown hair and an ever-present grin, was the group's natural leader. Sarah, with her piercing green eyes and sharp intellect, was the voice of reason. Liam, tall and athletic with a laid-back demeanor, balanced the group's energy with his easygoing nature. Emily, quiet and observant, had a calm presence that grounded them all. As they left the school, hunger drove them toward their favorite diner. "Let's take a detour," Jake suggested. "I heard there's a new exhibit at the park—something about a fallen asteroid."

The friends agreed, and soon they were strolling toward the park, chatting animatedly. When they arrived, they found a small crowd gathered around a strange, luminescent rock partially buried in the grass. Liam had just stepped outside when a lightning bolt struck a nearby tree. Startled, he instinctively raised his hand, and the bolt changed direction, crashing harmlessly into the ground. His eyes widened as he realized he could manipulate electricity.

Without hesitation, the friends sprang into action. Jake unleashed bursts of fire to drive the grunts back, while Sarah used ice to create protective barriers around the frightened bystanders. Liam called forth powerful electrical currents to disrupt the grunts' movements. Emily manipulated the earth, using it to shield people and immobilize the attackers. Alex used lightning to strike at the grunts, creating confusion and disarray.

Despite their best efforts, the grunts continued their assault. Just as the situation seemed dire, an elderly man with a flowing robe and a long beard appeared. His presence commanded instant respect and attention. His eyes, a piercing blue, surveyed the scene with a mix of sadness and resolve.

"Enough!" the old man shouted, raising his hand. A powerful wave of energy emanated from him, sending the grunts fleeing into the shadows. The park fell silent.

The friends, panting and exhausted, looked at the old man in awe. "Who are you?" Jake asked, stepping forward.

"I am Master Alaric," the man replied. "You have been chosen by the cosmos. The asteroid bestowed upon you the elements of fire, ice, earth, psychic, and lightning. You have much to learn."

"What do you mean, chosen?" Sarah asked, her voice tinged with anxiety.

"There is a great darkness rising," Alaric explained. "You must hone your powers and prepare for the challenges ahead. The balance of our world depends on it."

The friends exchanged anxious glances. The gravity of Alaric's words was unmistakable. The adventure they were about to embark on was fraught with danger and uncertainty.

"Meet me at the old tower tomorrow," Alaric said, turning to leave. "There is much to discuss, and time is running short."

As the old man's figure disappeared into the distance, the five friends were left in tense silence.
