Getting used to it

Asterin looked at the sad amount of food supplies on the table. It seems, when this body's servants escaped, they had taken most of the food with them, leaving Asterin with a pitiful number of biscuits and what seemed like canned tuna.

Asterin silently facepalmed. "Great, there isn't even enough food for this body to survive on for a day." Looking at the door, she picked up a sword. Thankfully, it seemed that this body's owner had a fascination with swords and had gathered a multitude of them which were locked in a room.

Pulling the sword along, she gallantly opened the door, facing her first ever zombies with a lot of fear and a multitude of guides on how to kill a zombie, memorised from the YMZA guide which someone had thankfully created in her past life.

Up close, the zombies looked much more disgusting than before, with dried blood oozing out from cuts and holes on their skin. Asterin looked at their slow moving bodies, and suddenly didn't feel that scared.

Picking up her sword, she cleanly sliced the zombie's neck off, his head hitting the floor with a thump. The noise attracted some other nearby zombies, who upon coming closer were met with the end of her sharp blade.

Soon, most of the zombies were piled up on her front door, leading her to wonder why exactly that guy on the street died in such a horrible way when they were moving so slowly.

After chopping up all the zombies, Asterin excitedly crouched near a zombie head. Using her sword to slice through it, she chopped the head in half readily, pleased to see a shiny crystal inside the zombie's head.

Reaching into the head of the zombie, she pulled out the shiny crystal, inspecting it in broad daylight. Satisfied with the crystal, she sliced open all their heads, gathering up the crystals in them before going back in.

"Now I'm basically certain this is the world of YMZA. It even has the crystal nuclei from the game! How exciting!" Asterin looked over the crystals. All of them had different colours, giving the crystals a nice finish. Asterin excited held onto all of them, praying that it would work out correctly.

YMZA not only had a love story but was an exciting RPG as well. So, if you didn't want to play for the routes, you could also play it for the adventure packed RPG. However, in order to level up in this game, you had to collect crystal nuclei from the zombies.

This was implemented to make sure those that were playing for the routes didn't just play the routes, and had to enjoy the game world itself too, as some scenes needed a certain level in order to play.

YMZA also had a power system, which consisted of fire, water, wood, metal, and earth. In addition, there were subcategories that had to be unlocked as you played the game, such as wind, ice, lightning, and healing.

As the heroine, you got to pick what sort of power you wanted at the start of the game, which was extremely convenient.

Asterin focused on the crystals in her hands. If she had a power, she would be able to sense it and identify it by absorbing the crystals in her hand. If the purple crystal disappeared, she would have a lightning ability, and if a blue crystal disappeared… you get the point.

Although you could just use the power and find out what it was, at the present time she couldn't as she didn't know what it felt like to use the power.

Concentrating on the crystals, she focused, trying her best to sense something. A small spark went through her body, warming her up from the inside. Frowning, she looked back down at the crystals, astonished to find out that all of them had disappeared.

In addition, a small tablet seemed to be floating, showing her what seemed to be a game screen with her stats displayed on it. A picture of her face was shown, with stats like health beside it. What drew her attention the most however, was the name tab.

It didn't show her name, 'Asterin', but a completely different name, which she could only assume was the original owner's name.

"Eira Rox… oh no… it smells like cannon fodder." A funny thing about YMZA was that all the important characters had names with spectacular meanings or were from a different language. For this girl to have a name like Eira… didn't spell out a good fate.

But then again, it was better than being a villain and having to avoid death traps. Asterin tapped on the change name function, which was very conveniently placed, almost as if it were purposely put there just for Asterin to be able to keep her name.

With the name now changed, Asterin focused her attention on the powers, completely unfazed by the fact that this was a complete mash up of different genres.

Puzzling over the powers, she was delighted to see the entire list of powers all laid out under the powers section. In addition to that, there was a strange new power which was called 'space'. Asterin, now armed with the power to rival gods, was contemplating her existence.

"There are two ways this could go. One, I'm the main lead of some book and are currently being written out by the author or two, I am a side character of some book with another transmigrated person as the lead. Which is inconvenient."

Asterin looked upwards, sighing heavily. All that this meant was that she couldn't act out badly in case she was utterly squashed by some other lead that may come along.

After some testing and figuring out how things worked, she placed all the swords and the food into her space, along with stacks of water before preparing to venture out onto the streets in search of food.

Upon finding a huge supermarket after walking for what seemed like hours and smiting all the zombies with lightning before collecting their crystals with wind, she went in, hungry.

It seems that due to the massive amounts of zombies crowding the entrance, most people didn't bother trying to go in. So upon entering the supermarket, she was greeted by full shelves. Excitedly stuffing all the food into her space, she swept all the floors, going from food to bedsheets to clothes of all types.

"Eh, what's that?" A small pop-up showed on the side of the tablet shaped screen. ''Farm' is currently asking for the permission to operate.' Asterin hesitated for only a second before pressing yes. It was a farm, who would say no?

A farm icon appeared on the bottom on the tablet, which led to a game with trees bearing fruit and animals chewing on grass. It was a typical farming simulator.

Asterin gave it a brief glance before settling down on one of the beds, pulling out a bag of chips to munch on. Contently munching, she stilled for a moment, hearing footsteps which appeared to be leading up to the place she was currently at.

She felt a strange sense of déjà vu. This seemed to be a quite common setup, where the male and female leads meet at some place randomly.

Then the female lead would do something random, which would prompt the male lead to take an interest in her.

Shivering at the thought of becoming one of those cliches, she quietly slid under the bed, hiding. Just in time, two men walked up the stairs, coming into view of the area. Asterin, from her position underneath the bed, could only murmur out a curse word.
