16 The green kin.

In the outskirts of the Nedea forest, in the very limits of the kingdom, there was a primitive city. It was built mostly with logs, surrounded by a wall of little more than 2mts tall, and seemed vivid, as the bustle coming from inside was constant.

The people inhabiting the city were half of the size of an adult human , well they weren't people exactly, besides his small height they also had green skin, long nose and a mouth full of fangs. They weren't very strong but they were good at working toguether, in fact doing so they could hunt down prey which were many times strongers that any of him.

Almost a hundred meters outside the city, at top of a great tree, blended perfectly with the shadows, a figure was watching the city. Several days ago while hunting, he discovered the first of these beings, even when he killed it right in the spot, after some time he found hunting group from the same specie. Moved by curiosity he decided to watch the movements from that group. And tailing them was how he got here.

He has been watching the city for a time now, and even used his Spiritual Sense to sweep the whole city, just evading two places as the energy fluctuations coming from there were strong enough as to maybe, found his scanning.

Looking at the sunset the thirst for battle was rising crazily inside him, it was almost time, just a little more and the night would came, then it would be right moment. Needing to calm down he closed his eyes and as soon as they were shut, his existence vanished in the shadows, no matter how you looked to where he was standing just the shadow from the tree remainded there.

The starry night was beautiful, the three moons brilled shining in the sky, no even a cloud could been seen making of the night sky a spectacle of lights. The remote city was still full of live as the noise coming from it had decreased just a little since daytime.

The guards at the wall were fully awarened, scanning eveything in the surrounding with their senses, looking, hearing or smelling, few things couldn't pass unnoticed. Incidents as the attack from a beast weren't common but they weren't so rare eaither, so being a guard was a hard job but they also enjoyed a great status inside their village.

Two guards were making a round in their sections of the wall when they hear a low whistle but looking around they weren't able to found nothing. As they were about to move on the vision of one of them darkened while a warm liquid splashed over the body of the other. Feeling the known liquid over his body the guard looked to his partner just to found him impaled to the wall, unknowing how, just a moment before a spear fell from the sky killing it

He was about to scream and alert the other guards about the inminent attack, when he felt a grip over his throat. No matter how hard he tried no sound came out of his thoat, they died out because of the cracking sound and pain of his throat's bones breaking. In disbelief, before falling into the eternal darkness, he looked to the figure covered by a black fog which took his life.

The figure threw the body aside, took his spear and moved to the others patrol over the wall, it wouldn't take long before they smelled the blood thus it was better finishing them now. It didn't take long before the frontal wall was without guards, everyone of them die in the same fashion, with a look of disbelief as the fog covered figure reaped their life.

Soon the city was noisy than ever and the heavy smell of blood filled the city. A human figure covered by a black fog was moving through the city, everytime the figure swang the spear in his hands a life ended. He would liked to had do things more silently but he underestimated the smell sense from the goblins, which caught the smell of blood not long after he started his slaugther .

A group of goblins was able to assemble, even though they didn't knew who the invasor was, it had to be formidable to bring their village into that state. But they didn't even had the time to look for the enemie before the enemie came to them.

The spear pierced through the head of one the group members nailing it to the wall, the others were surprised by the sudden attack but before they were able to react the attacker had already retracted the spear, and swang it horizontally cutting the neck of the goblin nearest to him.

The next goblin was able to react, perhaps by luck, as his club was in the path of the spear but it was anyway sent flying, the spear chase after it nailing it to another wall. Then the figure move forward and held the head of the two remaining goblins smashing them down with each other.

As the figure moved to retrieve his spear, his gaze shifted to the mid of the village as if he was able to see through the buildings, finally one of the two main characters started moving.

In the middle of the town, in front of a big building, a goblin stood motionless. Different from the others he was totally packed in a heavy armor which seemed hard to being lifted for such a small figure. Even when the village was summited in chaos, he was incomparably calm, just standing there, waiting for something.

From the shadow a couple of meters in front of him, another figure came out, it looked human but a black fog was surrounding his body. The new arrived figure walked before the small goblin and dispelled the fog around him revealing Akin features.

"Hahaha, who would thought my enemy would be another son of War, but it shouldn't be a surprise just brothers as us can be so domineering". Commented the goblin surprising Akin.

"There is not need to talk further, it wouldn't change nothing" Said Akin pausing a little but he was very curious about the 'son of War' and 'brothers' part.

"Here i go". Advice Akin.

"Come then". Replied the little goblin.

Then both moved forward, Akin's spear was fast than the goblin's axe and he took the iniciative, the spear aimed to pierce the goblin's chest but it found the side from its axe's head instead. The goblin was pushed back, and Akin's spear was already slammed down before it could recover its balance but the goblin was able not just from dodging the hit moving aside but also to counterattack.

Akin's spear hit the ground, and the axe's edge was coming for him, but he calmly made a lateral sweep with the spear making it clash with the incoming attack. Due to his strengh being greater than that of the goblin the spear didn't escape his grip and wasn't sent flying but it did retroceded more than the axe after the collision.

It would put him in a bad position and would gave the goblin enough time for another attack but Akin spinned over himself following the spear movement and use the impulse to made a sweep aiming for the goblin head. But the goblin was able to use the axe once again to block the attack.

A few more hits were exchanged before Akin started gaining the upper hand in the fight, but no matter how hard he hit the goblin, the little monster always came back. Once, he even kicked the goblin and sent it flying against a wall but as soon as the goblin collided it was charging at him again. The goblin seemed immersed in a battle frenzy, a battle frenzy as one he had seen before.

The battle went for a while longer before the goblin fell to the ground unable to move, seeing this, Akin stopped his attack which almost ended with its life. Akin knowed those effects, those were the aftermath of push your body over its limit.

Unable to move its body the goblin knew its destiny was sealed, with a pleading gaze he asked to Akin.

"Give peace brother".

As a warrior himself, Akin would keep the honor of a the defeated warrior, and even when he wanted to get some answers, he ended the goblin life.

Surprised he found that its soul wasn't automatically collected and looking to the goblin's soul he found the reason. There was a blessing, the same kind of blessing he had but even greater, now he had certains doubts, could even monsters receive blessings? As the goblin said, this was the blessing of War? But he wouldn't obtain any answer and Botis said he didn't knew who god each blessing belonged to. Without more to think he extracted the soul and threw it inside of one of the stars in his Soul Realm, maybe he could get something from its memories.

His gaze shifted to the place were the other big shot from the goblins was. Walking to the shadow of a building the black colored fog surrounded his body again and as soon as he enter the shadows he disappeared.

In front of a statue a old goblin was sitting, with a staff at its side, murmuring something. After a while his voice stopped, he picked his baston, turned around and looked to the shadows in an empty place. He lifted his baston and pointing to where he was looking started chanting in a strange language, but before he was able to said a couple of words two ball of fire came from the shadows he was pointing at. The first ball was stopped by a sort of barrier but the second pierced through the barried and even his head, leaving behind a charred hole.

(A moments ago)

Akin was looking to the old goblin praying in front of a statue, he used his Spiritual Sense to scan the goblin's body as he was planning to fight with it, but he didn't find it to be strong in any way, it was even weaker than most of the goblins he fought before. In some point, the goblin stopped praying, stood up, turned around, looked to where he was staying as if could see him and started chanting.

Hearing the goblin chant Akin felt danger as never before, and without thinking twice he used two of the stars in his Star Cloak. And his instincts didn't probed wrong when he saw the barrier around the goblin, thankfully the second star ended the goblin life.

Now he was doubting from where came the other high energy fluctuation he felt before. When he looked again to the statue, which was a representation of a warrior goblin, but even if fierce it looked noble and even gave off an aura of holiness, Botis who seemed sleeping from days ago suddenly spoke.

"Kid, you should take that statue with you, i am not sure what it is but i can tell you that is something good".

"Yes, i know". Replied Akin.

His Spiritual Sense didn't felt nothing special about the statue but recalling the old goblin's prayers and the danger he felt, the statue should had some secret arounds. After putting the statue inside his Shadow Space, some incidents happening inside a certain building caught Akin's attention. Moving in that direction he vanished between the shadows again.
