29 Chapter 29: Free (2)

Perseus POV

With a newfound sense of determination and anger, Perseus moved swiftly through the dimly lit corridors of the royal dungeon. His escape was nothing short of a miracle, and now he was determined to make the most of it.

As he rounded a corner, he came face to face with a pair of guards, their weapons drawn and ready for a fight. Without hesitation, Perseus reached for the chains that hung from his wrists earlier that he brought along, whipping them around.

The heavy metal links struck them squarely on the head, and the impact was deadly as it was imbued with magic, knocking the guards off balance before they even had a chance to react, as they fell, they were slowly bleeding out as they could only

Using the element of surprise to his advantage, Perseus pressed forward as no one would have thought a kid like him could escape such cells easily. He grabbed a nearby rock, hurling it at another guard who appeared from around a corner. The projectile struck its mark, sending the guard staggering backward with a cry of pain.

He then grabbed and threw another, which pierced the guard's eye and into their head.

But he knew he couldn't rely solely on rocks and chains to defend himself. He needed weapons, something that would give him an edge against the armed guards who patrolled the dungeon.

With that thought in mind, he made his way toward the nearest guard station, hoping to find a set of keys or perhaps even a weapon he could use.

As he approached the station, he spotted a lone guard standing watch, his attention focused on a nearby doorway. Seizing the opportunity, Perseus crept up behind the guard, his movements silent as a shadow.

With a swift and decisive strike, he knocked the guard unconscious, relieving him of his keys and any other useful items he carried before ending him.

"This place sucks...don't they have a life monitor...to check on deaths or something?" Perseus thought aloud, "Not even a monitor on the cuffs."

He didn't stop there. Moving quickly, he made his way to the cells where the other prisoners were held captive.

"The hell? It's a kid." one muttered

"Hey kid, what's your pretty face doing here?" another asked, "Based on your looks...I thought all of you would have been extinct by now."

"I can't escape here all alone, making it here is more than miraculous enough."

Perseus took a closer look at the man, and he was a tall muscular man who was about 185cm tall, looked to be in his early 40s, heavily tattooed, with curly black hair, and had purple eyes.

"What makes you think we want to escape, we get properly fed here...wanna know what's funny?" the tattooed man asked, "Tax evaders are brought to prison...which are fully funded by other tax payer's money...hahahahahahaha..."

"You won't be here if that's all you did..."

"Oh?" his eyes glinted

voices from all of the prison cells then started chuckling, laughing, and murmuring in amusement.

"The kid's smart."

"Yeah, and here I thought that they're just demons who think with their mouth."

"Well, free us kid, the prison here doesn't really house the worst criminals like the one on that stupid island, but we're no slouch either."

Perseus just stayed quiet and let them all quiet down, he knew he couldn't just forcefully shut them up, because they'd just make a lot of noise to get the attention on purpose, with so many dangerous criminals like this in one spot...they can get out anytime.

It may take a long preparation, but it's still possible. Probably riskier.

"I don't trust all of you, but I couldn't care less." Perseus said as he started opening each cell, "But whether I die by y'all or that stupid king, it's still the same."

Perseus freed a couple of cells, then he went to free them from their restrictions before throwing keys to them to help free their friends, the murderers listened to the reason more than the others did.

*****

With a thunderous roar, the prisoners surged forth from their cells.

Armed with whatever makeshift weapons they could find, they overwhelmed the guards stationed in the corridors, their sheer numbers proving too much for the beleaguered defenders. The clang of metal against metal echoed through the dungeon as the prisoners fought tooth and nail for their liberation.

Despite the odds stacked against them, the prisoners pressed on, driven by a fierce determination to break free from their captivity. They rallied around their leaders, their spirits undaunted by the dangers that lay ahead.

As they fought their way through the dungeon, they encountered more guards, and more obstacles standing between them and their freedom. But with each obstacle overcome, their resolve only grew stronger.

They've been there for too long. Finally, after what felt like an eternity, they reached the exit, bursting out into the cool night air with a triumphant shout.

As they scattered into the darkness, disappearing into the shadows of the night, they knew that their fight was far from over. But for now, they would savor the taste of victory, knowing that they had taken the first step on the long road to freedom.

They need a certain distance so that no one can capture them again.

With his heart pounding in his chest, Perseus sprinted through the winding streets of the Town of Forgotten, his mind racing with thoughts of escape and survival. He knew that he couldn't stay here any longer, not after the events that had unfolded in the royal dungeon.

With a final glance back at the castle as he reached a hill and heard the siren...he planned and thought about what he could do and where he could go next.

He then turned and disappeared into the dense forest, his footsteps echoing in the stillness of the night. He had no idea what the future held in store for him, but one thing was certain, he would never stop fighting for his freedom, to be free from this world and go back.
