Chapter 4: Dual Wielder

After a while of being surrounded by darkness, Keith's soul returned to his body and he regained his consciousness.

He then looked at the tree which was shining probably signifying that it has already assessed whether or not he was worthy or not.

The tree trunk would turn black and release a dark purple aura if you were not worthy and it would turn white and release a bright golden aura if you were indeed worthy.

And as Keith gazed at the tree trunk, he saw the tree trunk shine brightly with a golden aura and a smile broke onto his face.

After looking at the tree trunk for a while, a sword which was emitting a dark purple aura came out of the tree trunk.

Keith grinned ear to ear as he stepped forward and picked the sword up. And just as he picked it up, the system showed him the information regarding the sword.

[The sword belonging to the [God Of Destruction] which is capable of mass destruction.]

He then received another notification from the system which told him about the new skills he had received after proving that he was worthy.

[This affinity allows the user to use any destruction based magical spells.]

[Wow host, I must say that I am impressed.] - said the system with a surprise voice as it continued to examine the powerful weapon and skills he had received.

[How did you know that these items were hidden here this entire time ?] - asked the system after examining the weapon and the skills which Keith had received.

Keith smirked after hearing the system's bewilderment and its questions and simply replied by saying,"Who knows ? Probably the Gods themselves sent me here."

After saying that to the system, Keith placed the sword inside of his Item Box next to [The Sword Of The Devourer].

He started to walk out of [The Dark Forest] and he had encountered some resistance from the inhabitants of the forest.

It took him two hours to exit the forest and to reach the city's entrance gates.

He greeted the same guards at the entrance gate again before he entered the city and he then made his way to the food stall that he had visited earlier today to buy some grilled chicken again.

"Good evening sir," said Keith as he greeted the old man who was seemingly starting to pack up for the day.

"Oh young man, good evening," replied the old man as he looked at the young boy he had seen earlier this morning.

"How many I help you ?" asked the old man as he continued to pack up his things for the day.

"Oh, you are packing up for the day ?" asked Keith as a frown appeared on his face.

"Why, yes I am young man," replied the old man with a a slight smile on his face.

"Did you want to buy some grilled chicken again ?" asked the old man as a slight chuckle left his mouth.

"Uhh ... yes I wanted to buy some," replied Keith as he nodded his head with a slightly embarrassed expression on his face.

"Hahaha, do not worry. I will make one for you right now," said the old man as he let out a loud laughter after he saw Keith's embarrassed expression.

Keith waited for a few minutes for the old man to finish cooking the grilled chicken.

And while he was there waiting, he decided to check the notifications he had received from the system while he was in [The Dark Forest] busy fighting off the monsters that had came to kill him.

[Wow! Look at you. You have made quite the progress today.] - said the system with a slightly surprised tone in its voice.

'Yeah it was quite the progress,' replied Keith in his head as he communicated with the system about his progress for the day.

[If you go to [The Dark Forest] everyday and train your abilities there like today, then in three months time when [The Magical Academy Of Delmontria] reopens and you start attending classes, you would have mastered all of your abilities !] - exclaimed the system with an excited tone in its voice.

'Well ... yes, it is true. But what if I meet powerful monsters in the forest while I am there ?' asked Keith with a concerned expression on his face.

[Do not worry that much about it. You have to fight powerful monsters so that you can level up faster. Do you want to be killed by that villain, not being able to protect yourself because of not being strong enough ?] - asked the system with a serious tone in its voice.

The system knew fully well that Keith's death at the hands of the villain in the next Arc was something Keith dreaded and something Keith wants to prevent no matter what it took.

So the system decided to use this event to motivate him into training at [The Dark Forest] everyday despite there being powerful monsters that could easily kill him if they were to attack him while he was training in the forest.

After hearing the system talk about his death at the hands of the villain, he began to reconsider his decision about not wanting to train at [The Dark Forest] everyday.

But before making his decision about it, he started to think about how the system found out about his death at the hands of the villain in the next Arc and decided to ask the system about it first.

'Hey Jerry, how did you know about my death at the hands of the villain and when it is going to happen ?' asked Keith with a tone filled with suspicion and he started to ponder about it as well.

[I heard you when you were talking to yourself in your head in the morning before you left the house to go to the forest.] - replied the system with a indifferent tone in its voice.

[You should not be worrying about how I got to know things but instead, you should be worrying about your training to get stronger.] - said the system with a slightly irritated tone in its voice.

'Wait, you can hear my thoughts !' exclaimed Keith as he started to feel angry at the system for not respecting his privacy.

[Well not any more since you got that skill [Mental Fortitude]. Now I can only hear you when you speak directly to me.] - said the system with a slightly irritated tone in its voice.

'...'

'How can you be irritated for not being able to hear my thoughts ? I am the one who is supposed to be angry that someone decided to listen to my thoughts without my permission !' shouted Keith as he scolded the system for its behaviour.

After arguing with the system, Keith returned his attention back to the old man who had finished preparing his grilled chicken for him.

"Here you go young boy," said the old man as he handed the grilled chicken to Keith who was drooling while he looked at the grilled chicken.

Keith took out five copper coins from his pouch and then handed it over to the old man.

He then took the piece of meat from the old man and started to devour the delicious meal in front of the old man who smiled at him as he was satisfied that someone appreciated his cooking.

After finishing his meal, he greeted the old man and told him that he would visit his stall tomorrow morning for some grilled chicken again.

Keith then walked back to his house and looked at the beautiful scenery as the sun was setting giving an orange glow to the city's buildings, the trees and the carriages that were moving about on the city's roads being pulled by horses.

He arrived at his house and entered the building before he made his way to the bathroom to take a shower.

He entered the bathroom and took off his clothes that were dirty and smelled of sweat and then threw them into a basket that was placed on the ground.

Then he entered the shower and opened the faucet and warm water started to come out of the shower head.

Water poured over his body as he cleansed his body and removed all of the dirt and grime that he had accumulated during the day.

After taking a shower, Keith exited the bathroom and put on a robe before he got into bed and fell asleep due to the accumulated tiredness.
