13 Security Analyst?

Shinhye and I do have one thing in common. Our lives were changed when our parents passed away.

Fortunately, there was Marjorie who took Mom and Dad's place. Even though she was a goddamn drunkard and a terrible cook, she did her thing as my second parent. Sure, she was definitely strict from training me vigorously, I couldn't care less since I trusted her as a master. Yet she cared about me.

With all of the things I've done as an assassin, Marjorie and the UCA got my back.

While Shinhye has no one.

She may have friends, but she knows they cannot help her, given her situation. Abandoning her might have happened, should she tell her experience to them. The truth is too scary.

Since her parents' passing, everything's traumatic for her. Because of her brother's insanity. Yet she endured.

And here we are, because she no longer takes it anymore.

What about her family, you ask?

Yesterday after saving her from taking her own life, Shinhye followed up saying that she can't contact any of her relatives because her brother was not allowed to do so. On paper, it's the opposite. The brother takes her place to do so, texting they are fine, something like that, to cover up for his indecency.

As to stop that indecency of his, I would like to go to her house to find some leads.

After my 10B class, I manage to speak with Shinhye outside their room in private.

"You think your brother will be home tonight?"

"I don't think so, Mr. Lee. He mentioned to me he's going home late and not to go home later and do something stupid."

Of course...

I theorize, "He could be lying though. He can be crazier than we think. Let's hope he'll be home late."

Shinhye wonders, "Why do you ask that?"

"Your testimonies are considered evidence against him. But that's not enough.

I'm looking for more evidence. For starters, your house, where every abuse that has happened to you so far takes place.

You could say it's the 'crime scene'."

In order to do that, I need permission from her...

However she responds, "If that's the case, you can come to my house later."

Looks like she understands.

"Thanks, Shinhye. You can go home ahead after classes are over. Don't worry about the address, I'll catch up."

.

.

.

Classes are over and Shinhye heads on her way home while I secretly follow her. Of course, I don't want to look suspicious to others so I play it cool. Expertise.

It looks like her house is in Seongdong district as she crosses Seongsu Bridge.

I think her house is actually in this neighborhood. Seongsu il-ga il-dong.

She finally crosses the street and stops at her house. Then I step out of the shadow.

"So this is your house," I start to speak with my hands in both pockets, startling her.

"Oh, Mr. Lee! Y-you managed to follow me."

I don't wanna say it's my skill as an assassin obviously, so I play it cool once more.

"I already fixed my stuff back at school beforehand and somehow caught up to you. I hope no one saw me or they'll report me for being a maniac."

The gate is locked as I can see, assuming her brother's not yet home.

"Looks like we're safe for now," I state.

Shinhye replies, "You're right. I'll get the keys."

She gets her keys from her left pocket and unlocks the gate. We get inside and she this time unlocks the front door, getting us inside the house.

"You may put down your backpack on the couch," Shinhye instructs while putting down hers. I follow her.

"If you don't mind, I'll start investigating immediately," I tell her. She nods.

I start scrutinizing the whole house.

So far, nothing's whispering 'evidence' to me. Apparently, the whole house is neat, excluding the rooms I haven't checked in: her and her brother's rooms.

"May I check your room," I ask. She nods again.

I go in the room and appear to be neat also.

While searching, I ask her, "How often do you clean, Shinhye?"

She answers, "Almost everyday. Even though it's only the two of us here, oppa always makes mess everywhere."

"How about his room?"

"That's the only room I do not clean. I'm actually not allowed to go inside his room. He always tells me that I'll be dead if I go in."

I know something's up with his room from the start. I decided to search the rest of the house first so I wouldn't miss out on any evidence.

I find no leads from Shinhye's room, so I immediately go out of her room and then at the front of the other room.

And I see the electric lock featuring a lock for emergencies using a special key the brother holds, requires eight digits. Seems hackable though.

I interrogate Shinhye again, "Ever asked why he doesn't allow you to go in?"

"I did one time, but he got very furious."

"Guy must be hiding something. Probably some tap-"

I quickly cut off my sentence. Might might trigger her trauma. I look at her looking at the door and then looking at me.

"What's wrong, Mr. Lee," she asks.

I reply, "Nothing."

I go get my laptop and the tools to hack the lock, wires and such. I still have the application for hacking on my laptop and it's a good thing I still have not uninstalled it. Also, it's a good thing I learned such skill from my fellow hitman. He's dope, gotta tell you.

I do the Indian sit on the floor at the front of the door and put the laptop above my thighs. Connecting the wires from the laptop to the door lock, I start to hack.

Holding her knees while looking at what I'm doing, Shinhye asks with unease, "Are you actually hacking, Mr. Lee?"

"It's one of two ways to get inside."

She asks curiously again, "What's the other one?"

"Busting in like we're the FBI. I don't want to damage the door already.

Aaand... done."

The hacking is finished and the door is finally unlocked. I remove the wires and tell Shinhye, "You can open the door now."

As I fold my laptop and stand up, she opens the door, only to meet the reek of foul smell inside. She quickly covers her nose and mouth.

As numb as I can be, I quickly react, "Oh, what the hell? How foul can his smell be?"

I peek inside just to see the utter mess her brother has made. I react again, "What a lazy guy."

Now that I think about it, I have not asked for her brother's name.

"Never asked you this, Shinhye, but what's your brother's name?"

"It's Kang Jaeshim."

Kang Jaeshim, huh.

Besides the mess, the inside of the room is full of computers and electronic devices and tools. What I see are what computer engineers use: hard drives, screw drivers, multimeters, data cables.

"He graduated computer engineering," I ask Shinhye.

While walking toward the curtains to open them, she answers, "He graduated before our mom got killed in the accident. He immediately got a job after that."

I wonder what that job that is.

I ask again, "What's the job?"

"He told me he got the security analyst job. But when I asked for the details, he got mad at me."

Kang Jaeshim gets sensitive to the details. Shinhye said he got mad for being asked why he doesn't allow her to go inside this room. Now, she's saying he also felt the same when asked for the job details.

He could be lying about his job. Probably something illegal. Security analyst? I don't know but should he be at least a computer science graduate?

Also, not allowing her sister to go here? He's definitely hiding something fishy here besides the tapes. You know what tapes I mean.

Shinhye should be suspicious of him right now. Getting angry for details is not the smartest move. He should at least make out something convincing.

But it doesn't matter now… because I'm going to turn on his computer and hack the hell out of it...

By turning it on!
