Chapter 7. Assassin System.

The young man who had been sent flying by the three-eyed wolf's claw glared at him angrily before demanding, "Why did you run towards us with a Qi beast behind you?"

Alex knew he was in the wrong. If he hadn't been desperate in that situation, he wouldn't have made such a reckless decision.

He realized he had to apologize, so he mustered the courage to say, "I am sorry about that. I just thought you people could help me."

"We could help you? What is worthless trash like you doing here in the first place? Don't you know better than to attract Qi beasts you are unable to defeat?" the young man snapped with anger.

Alex was starting to get annoyed by being referred to as trash, but before he could defend himself, the young lady among them interjected, "Xiao Se, take it easy on him."

Upon hearing this, Xiao Se turned around and walked towards a rock, sitting down with a deep frown etched on his face.

The other young man in their group found a rock as well and sat down, resting his back against it and closing his eyes.

Now alone with the young lady, Alex couldn't help but notice her breathtaking beauty.

She was tall, almost as tall as Alex, with mesmerizing silver eyes and long silver hair that gave her an almost mystical aura.

At just eighteen years old, her body was already developing remarkable curves in all the right places.

Alex was momentarily captivated by her ethereal beauty, his gaze scanning her from head to toe.

However, as he was lost in his exploration, the young lady cleared her throat, bringing Alex back to reality.

Startled, he looked up to find her cold silver eyes staring at him, and she said in a frigid tone, "You know, it's impolite to stare at someone like that."

Her cold words caught Alex off guard, and he felt a chill run through him under her piercing gaze.

But that was not all—the sudden sensation of dread washed over him as he sensed someone locking onto him with intense killing intent.

Alex was taken aback by the overwhelming aura of hostility directed at him.

He turned towards the two young men who had been resting earlier, only to find their angry eyes fixed upon him.

The young lady spoke again, her voice no longer icy but calm and composed, as she inquired, "From your uniform, it seems you are from the Cloud Moon Sect."

Alex was puzzled by the question; he had no knowledge of the Cloud Moon Sect or anything related to it.

Unaware of Alex's silence, the young lady continued, "What are you doing out here? Are you here on a sect's mission?"

Caught off guard once again, Alex had no response. He simply nodded slightly, indicating his affiliation with the sect.

Realizing his injuries were evident, the young lady declared, "You have already sustained many injuries, making it impossible for you to continue the mission today." She produced a small vial and tossed it to Alex, saying, "This is for your injuries. Take this and rest. We will be resting here for a while before returning to the sect. If you want, you can follow us back, or you can continue with your mission." With that, she turned around and walked towards the spot where the two young men were resting, joining them.

Alex stood there, examining the vial in his hands for a while before muttering to himself, "I hope this one won't lead me straight towards another strange-looking animal," he said to himself as he uncapped the vial.

A fresh and cooling fragrance emanated from the opened vial.

Alex muttered to himself, "At least it has a nice fragrance," as he lifted the vial to his mouth and swallowed the liquid within it.

A refreshing sensation coursed through his body, although it wasn't as invigorating as when he took the golden pill earlier. Nonetheless, it was enough to calm Alex's mind and body.

He could feel the pain from his injuries reduce slightly, and his wounds began to heal slowly.

Alex sat down on the ground, leaning his back against a rock, as his mind drifted off, trying to make sense of what had just happened.

But then, a pop-up notification appeared.

_…_…_…_…_

[System Notification]

[DING! DING!!]

Memories of the previous occupant were detected within the vessel.

Initiating memory retrieval sequence: 1.2..3...4....5.....

_…_…_…_…_…

Alex was taken aback by the notification. He muttered to himself in shock, "Wait! What previous occupant? What is this?"

Although he had a vague recollection of being transmigrated to another world in another body when he awakened earlier, he still had doubts and hadn't fully accepted it as the truth.

But now, with the holographic screen displaying the information, there was no room for doubt. He was indeed in a strange world, inhabiting a foreign body.

Lost in his thoughts, Alex was unaware that the countdown on the notification screen continued.

_…_…_…_…_…

6...7....8.....9...10

[DING! DING!!]

Memory retrieval is successful. Would you like to witness the memories?

[Yes] / [No]

_…_…_…_…_…

The sound of the notification snapped Alex out of his deep thoughts. Seeing the notification screen, he didn't hesitate to select [Yes] as his answer.

Just as he made up his mind, ready to say it out loud, the system beeped once again.

_…_…_…_…_…

[DING! DING!!]

Answer detected.

_…_…_…_…_…

"What answer detected!" Alex muttered in frustration. "I haven't even said wha..." But before he could finish his sentence, a loud boom sounded in his head.

Countless memories began to flood his mind, causing him to close his eyes.

If someone were to observe his face, they would think he was asleep, but upon closer inspection, they would be perplexed by the range of emotions displayed—joy, anger, fear, despair. Various emotions flashed across his face.

After about fifteen minutes, the notification screen popped up once again.

_…_…_…_…_…

[DING! DING!!]

Memories completely merged with the host.

Do you wish to see your Status?

[Yes] / [No]

_…_…_…_…_…

Alex, seeing this, didn't hesitate to select [Yes]. This time, he didn't attempt to say it out loud.

Based on his previous experience, he had concluded that he didn't need to speak; he just needed to focus his mind on the answer, and the system would detect it.

And just as he suspected, it didn't take long for the notification screen to appear again.

_…_…_…_…_…

[DING! DING!!]

Answer detected.
