Back in the command center located well below the indoor parking lot/factory where all the mechs are parked, a rather handsome-looking young man is currently looking towards the large screen in front of him. The screen gave a full high-quality view of the fight that Daniel is currently having with the artificial-intelligence controlled mech suit, while many alternative statistics are flashing on the side of the screen.

At this time, a middle-aged man walked in to the command center from a side entrance reserved for restricted personnels. He came all the way up to the podium where the young man stood and similarly observed the screen next to him, as though he had been there the entire time.

"General Arnold, what a pleasant surprise." The young man said as his head tilted slightly to the right while maintaining a view of the screen before him.

"Spare me from the pleasantries, David." General Arnold retorted in an emotionless tone. "Do you think I wouldn't come and take a look of our 'candidate' when I was the one who asked you to observe him in the first place?"

"Well, I had originally thought that you would be quite busy from all the messes that those so-called 'awakened' people have caused the past month or so and wouldn't have time to see a potential 'awakened' who's much friendlier to the Federation than others." David replied in a matter-of-fact manner. "Though, from the looks of it, you really do seem to value this candidate's relationship with your military..."

"Don't overthink too much, David." General Arnold sneered, giving David a rather unpleasant look before trying to change the subject. "So how's our 'candidate' holding up?"

"Pretty good considering the fact that the only training he's ever done until now were from a simulation pod." David observed before giving a nod of approval subconsciously. "Most new students wouldn't be able to get used to a real-life robot that easily after being forced to connect with the machine neurologically. Though, from what I've observed, there seems to be no problem with Daniel."

"If he was a person that would get pilot's fatigue just from the first time piloting, then he really wouldn't deserve to be the genetic offspring of two of the Federation's most celebrated heroes." General Arnold said in a rather mocking tone. "You can't compare him to all those other newbies who would instantly be kicked out from the assessment less than a second after it began due to not reacting fast enough. Do you think I have you come here just to take a look at someone with normal talent?"

"No." David shook his head. "Besides, I wouldn't have come anyways even if you demanded me to do it unless it's something that interests me. And this kid had peaked my interest quite a while ago. From what I've seen from the past 30 seconds or so, I say that the boy really doesn't disappoint."

"I know that I have you come here so I can have a better understanding of his abilities after having you compare yourself to him, but I did not expect you really had a different motive for obeying my orders." Arnold spoke, not even looking surprised at the young man's lack of obedience towards him.

"You flatter me, General." David gave a light chuckle, pretending as though what the general had said was actually a compliment instead of an insult. "Though, I think you also have other motives when coming here, no?"

After not hearing a response from the middle-aged man, the younger person gave another chuckle as he continued to speak in a light tone, "I think you've come here because you are curious about the so-called 'special abilities' that this person posseses, am I right?"

"I don't think a person with the personality like that would reveal his secrets that easily." Arnold sneered. "Also, it still haven't been confirmed that the person is indeed an 'awakened' yet, since he hasn't displayed even an ounce of suspicious activity for the past few months."

"I beg to differ." David shook his head, disagreeing with the general's opinion. "Minerva have recorded every single bit of Daniel's movements for the past few months. Since he had took an automated car and travelled towards the end of the city boundaries at night, he must have decided to climb the mountain which became the sight of one of the many impacts the meteorite have caused that day."

"From the impact force of the impact, anyone would have been killed simply from being crushed by the debris that flew as a result of the crash. However, since we know that the unknown substance that came from space would be absorbed into organic manner when in contact, by calculating the diameter of the impact crater and the corresponding matter and velocity needed in order to generate such a crater, the scientists have concluded back then that the foreign matter found in the impact crater were much less than initially projected. Therefore, the only legitimate reason for Daniel's survival and the lack of the unknown substance is that the former have absorbed the latter while the latter protected the former from the impact."

"However, since there aren't any live footage of the area at the time, there aren't any definitive proof, is there?" Arnold retorted. "Since that was the case, Minerva decided that it was better not to arrest Daniel since the reporters would have a field day if they knew about his kidnapping, smearing the name of the military for their own delight."

"So that's why you have him enrol at the EUMA instead?" David asked, raising an eyebrow. "I would have thought you would make more drastic measures for the stakes involved."

"Until now, Minerva have never determined Daniel to be a threat towards the Federation, so I can't make any moves on my own." Arnold revealed with an unpleasant look. "Also, if we can get an 'awakened' on our side, the practical benefits would outweigh the cons of angering someone that's initially loyal to us in the first place."

"I get it, so you're telling me that from now on, I need to watch over this kid, aren't you? Tch! How annoying!" David clicked his tounge and spoke in an unpleasant tone. However, the other person instantly corrected him and said, "No, I'll have someone else watch over him instead. The only thing you need to do is to give me the reports that he send to you from time to time. The day-to-day operations and directions would be handled by you while that person would do all the dirty work for you."

"And who might that person be?" David asked.

"That would be me." It was then that David realized someone had snuck up from behind him unannounced. As a person who had rigorous training since childhood before getting enrolled within EUMA, David's sense are keen enough to notice everything around him, but this person managed to walk all the way up until he was within reach before David could even react. When he realized this, cold sweat subconsciously poured from his brows.

"And... who is this?" David asked after trying his best to calm himself down from the earlier shock.

"I'll introduce you." Arnold couldn't help but gloat within his heart when he saw how flustered the young man was, but still remained emotionless on the outside as he introduced the person before the two of them. "This is DN-07, a top-secret assassin that the Federation trained as part of our espionage program."

The person whose name only consisted of random letters and numbers nodded at David emotionlessly, his pale complexion and lack of expression made the former felt that the person before him was an emotionless robot instead of an actual person.

"Did he get genetically modified or something? I thought it wasn't possible to fully stifle one's emotions with our technology." David asked with a weird look.

"No, except for the many mechanical implants on his body to improve his physical performance, we haven't done any deep-scale modifications on his genome, since the people behind his 'creation', so to speak, wasn't to create supersoldiers, but one that can infiltrate into an enemy territory unannounced, take out the target, before leaving without anyone knowing." Arnold explained.

"Why are you sending someone specialized in assassination towards me then?" David tilted his head and asked with confusion. "Wouldn't it be better to have someone like me go and befriend Daniel instead? At least it would be more believable than this emotionless machine."

"Apparently it's something that the assassin himself had requested." Arnold replied, turning his head towards the person in question, while David also gave the assassin a look of surprise as well.

"I can feel that this person is someone I can relate." The assassin said in such an emotionless manner that the two men next to him couldn't really picture such a lack of resonance between the assassin's expression and what he had just said.
