Scanning DNA....

Matching with existing available DNA...

As I wake up from 'a dream'.....a DIVE to be precise, I hear the animus AI voice.

...

NO MATCH FOUND!!!

...

Animus.....a machine which lets us relive the memories of our ancestors which are passed down to us through the course of time, or so I was told. How fascinating.

I came to slowly. Slowly the events of today race through my mind....The explosion at the Abstergo co. ...the hooded group....the never before seen security guards of the company...and those moves....

Everything I saw today might be the coolest thing I saw my whole life....yes the whole life...

Being born in a middle class family, the most cool thing I saw in my family was an antique gun.

During my reminiscing, suddenly.....

"Whoa!!!"

....a head popped up in front of me. I was startled and tried to get up from my sleeping posture hastily and.....

*hit*

....our head hit.

"Ouch!!HEY, don't get up suddenly."

While I rubbed my forehead, the I looked at the other person.

She was a woman. Black hair. Black eyes. Shoulder length hair. Dressed with a blue jeans, orange t-shirt, and a sleeveless jacket. Headphones around neck, white in colour.

She was Rebecca Crane. One of my kidnappers....yes kidnappers.

"Sorry, I was just startled." I apologized.

"It's okay.....Damn what a hard head" she mumbled.

She continued, "Anyway, how are you feeling?? Any discomfort?? 'cause the first time for everyone is not a good memory."

After some thinking and checking up, "Other than some dizziness during wake up, I'm feeling good"

"Oh, is that so, than you are a hard nut. The dizziness is quite normal, don't worry about it. Now, if you will come with me."

She helped me get up from animus and told me to follow her.

I started walking with her during which my eyes darted here and there.

The room I was in looks to be about 60 sq. ft.

with animus in center. The animus looks like a rectangle single bed but smaller length, just enough to lay on it. It had various lights here and there with two main light strips going on top through the whole length.

Next to the animus was a computer table with 3 screens and two systems, plus various other devices which I don't know. Running along the walls were cabinets of various sizes, few open, few closed, with things peeking out.

After exiting the room, I entered a hall, or something resembling a hall?? The hall is square shaped with just double the size of animus room, yep I will call it animus room.

There is a hallway just opposite to the animus room, which I don't know where it leads to.

Left of me is a workshop?? or something like that, I see a guy with brown hair, glasses, and a clean white lab coat, staring at his computer screen.

"Hey Shaun, I got the newbie's data"

Rebecca called to the guy while walking towards him.

I just followed her.

"Oh! Excellent. Let me have a look."

Shaun was clearly excited.

"I bet you would have never seen a data like this."

Rebecca said with a smirk.

"Impossible, I am proud of saying that I have seen every type of data available on whole grid!!!!"

Shaun said while raising his head proudly.

"Oh! Than let's have a bet."

"Sure. Let's have it. But what's at stake?"

Seeing Shaun agree to bet, Rebecca had a look of having a victory.

"Hmmm, let's see...yeah, let me have a look at your personal laptop."

Rebecca looked at Shaun with hopefull look, on which Shaun...

"No way. Not happing"

...denied completely.

...

...

Watching both of them bickering with each other I got bored.

I started to gazing around. The roof was slanted with metal sheets, like the kind of used in factories. Walls were not plastered with bricks in full view, the opposite wall of my current location, the workshop, yep the workshop, I felt good with my own naming sense, was having glass panel from half of its length. Sunshine was coming through it and causing god rays effect. Looking outside it's evening? How is it evening this soon? I remember the incident happening around

11 o'clock.

"Hmph, you are a boring man."

Looks like the bickering stopped.

"Anyway, Let me introduce myself to our guest, I'm Shaun Hasting, and I organize and analyse the data which the animus records. Oh, and sorry, because I was the one who shot you with the anesthesia. Hope it didn't hurt you."

Ah! anesthesia, that's why it's evening. I must have slept for quite some time. Shaun looked at me apologetically while extending his hand. Anyway I should give my own introduction too.

"Hello, I'm Jason Bourne, and I used to work in Abstergo finance department." while shaking his hands.

After careful thinking.....WHAT WOULD HAPPEN OF MY JOB????

The company must be in a mess due to the explosions from the morning. Will the company be able to run again?

How will I support my family? As I alone was the sole person with a job of my 3 people family after the accident of my father, I had to earn money for everything in my family.

How will I pay high school fees of my sister? How will I give my mother daily medication??

...

...

"Jason.....Bourne???"

While I was pondering my problems, Shaun said my name in confusion.

I looked at him and saw him exchange look with Rebecca.

Rebecca looked as confused as Shaun, or more. She looked at me and asked

"Why didn't you told me earlier??"

her look was that of a lottery winner of 100.000$, but mistook . as , after 100.

"You didn't let me talk. You just put me on animus after waking up!!"

I tried to explain her.

"Oh!...yeah.....I forgot....Shaun now what should we do??? We got the wrong person!!!"

Rebecca looked at Shaun with a pleading look.

"Well....even if you ask me....."

Then a voice came...

"What did you say Rebecca?"

With a voice came a woman, early twenties, blonde hair tied in a bun, black tight jeans, brown boots, and a white T-shirt. Her face looked beautiful, blue eyes, perfect face, with slight red lipstick. Overall, a beauty with a beautiful face, good figure, and....what else do you need.

"Can you repeat what you said Rebecca??"

She asked again.

"Oh! Lucy, thank god you came. We were discussing what to do with him as we got wrong person."

Rebecca was asking Lucy while pointing to me.

Lucy looked toward me and gave an apologetic gaze and then said to Rebecca.

"Rebecca, tell me how did you get the wrong person, even with the whole weeks of planning. The disturbance of bombs explosion should have given you ample amount of time to identify correct target and bringing him back. So how did you get the wrong person?"

"Well....we were in a hurry as we thought you would be in danger, and the Helix Identifier went Boom when we pointed at him. So we thought he must be the target."

Rebecca explained.

I just listened from the sidelines as it was not my place to intervene.

"Helix Identifier.....went....Boom?? You know that's impossible.....and it was even upgraded by you! and Helix Identifier do not just go Boom."

Lucy said with a wierd expression, like she was not able to understand anything.

After some thought, Rebecca said,

"I guess the new wiring must have caused problems to IC.....that's all I can think of."

Listening to Rebecca's explaination, Lucy first looked enraged, but then calmed down, with a helpless expression she said,

"What can we do, just send him back."

"Wait, can you at least tell me why I was brought here? After getting kidnapped, and going through that in noon, now you tell me I need to go back?"

I asked from them as I thought I was being ignored here totally.

Lucy started explaining to me after some hesitation,

"You were brought here due to a mistake of those two, for helping us, or so we thought. As for the other reasons, sorry, I can't tell you."

"Okay, so who was the guy you want?"

I asked.

Lucy, after exchanging glances with other two, said,

"Desmond Miles."

"Him?? why are you looking for him?"

"Just some reasons." She said while avoiding my question.

"Looking at your response, you know him?"

Rebecca asked.

"Yes, we were acquainted. He was taken by those different security guards this morning."

I told them.

Listening to me, they each had different expression.

"Anyway, Shaun you should see this."

Rebecca tried to change the topic by presenting a data disk to Shaun.

"What's the use of this now. It's not of the person we need."

Shaun said dejected, Lucy also agreed to it.

"No !! as I said you would not have seen that data, don't try to interrupt me, just see it."

Rebecca said while inserting the disc to Shaun's computer.

Shaun helplessly turned to the screen and started the analysis. With every passing second his face turned serious.

After some time,

"Impossible, this type of data is never seen before."

"What do you mean Shaun??"Lucy asked.

"This data have nothing in it."

Shaun told to Rebecca and Lucy with a blank face.

I can't understand a thing, but for it to make Shaun show a blank expression, it must be something serious.

...

...

After all the this and that which I couldn't make neither heads nor tails, Rebecca went back to animus room and Shaun in workshop.

Lucy took me to the centre of hall. She looked troubled and I think she can't understand where to start the conversation. After some hesitation,

"Jason, you are someone we only met today, and you might hate us for your experience today, for which I apologize.

"But now I, or, We need your help. Will you help us?"

She asked me.

"Hmmm, then tell me, how much money will I get?"

I thought while pondering. I hated my last job, so this might be a good chance.

"Eh...What?....money???"

She asked in confusion.

"Yes, money. I need it for my family."

After getting her composure back, she said,

"Well, if a direct comparison is to be done with your last job, then it will be equal or more than it."

Listening to her, I was tempted.

"But what will I do, I only worked in finance."

"Don't worry about the job, it's nothing dangerous for you. Those parts will be handled by others."

Then let's give it a go.

"Okay. I accept."

Listening to my answer, a smile blossomed on her face.

"Then once again, myself Lucy Stillman, nice meeting you Jason."

"Nice to meet you too."

We shook hands.

"And from all of us, we welcome you, Initiate."

The Synthesis Wizard

In a world where elements lay barren and powerful wizards had abandoned their homeland a millennium ago to explore the multiverse, Sunan found himself reincarnated as a noble scion stripped of his title. This world, once brimming with magic and wonder, had fallen into a desolate state, and wizards had become mere legends. Sunan was acutely aware that after a thousand years, the elements would awaken once more, heralding the return of the wizards and ushering in a new era of prosperity. He understood that his path was clear: he must train diligently to become a wizard himself and survive until this glorious age arrived. “Resources are scarce?” he mused, determination flickering in his eyes. “Then I’ll just have to synthesize them myself.” With that thought, he activated the Synthesis Cube, a device that granted him the ability to combine materials into something new. This Cube was not just a tool; it was a symbol of his potential in this world, reflecting his status as a player in a game he once played. As he set to work, the Cube glowed with possibilities, presenting him with a myriad of options. He had a few basic materials at his disposal, remnants of his previous life and the knowledge he had accumulated from his past experiences in the game. Sunan began experimenting, combining herbs and minerals he had gathered. Each successful synthesis filled him with a sense of accomplishment, inching him closer to his goal of becoming a wizard. Days turned into weeks, and Sunan’s skills improved rapidly. He crafted potions, improved his understanding of magical theories, and honed his mental abilities through intense meditation practices. The Star Ring Meditation, one of the first techniques he mastered, allowed him to tap into the latent mental energy within himself, enhancing his cognitive functions and magical sensitivity. As he progressed, whispers of his endeavors began to circulate among the remaining noble families and the common folk. Some viewed him with suspicion, while others saw potential in the young man who dared to challenge the status quo. Sunan knew he needed allies. He began seeking out individuals who shared his vision—a return to the age of wizards. He discreetly approached the remnants of the nobility, the few who still held some influence, and began to forge connections. His reputation grew cautiously, and with it, the opportunities to gather resources and knowledge. He learned of hidden libraries, ancient texts, and artifacts that could aid in his quest. One fateful day, while exploring a forgotten ruin, he uncovered an ancient tome detailing the rituals of the wizards who had once thrived on this land. The pages contained knowledge that could accelerate his growth, including spells long lost to time. “This is it,” Sunan thought as he carefully transcribed the contents into his own notes. “With this, I can not only learn the spells but also improve my synthesis techniques.” As he delved deeper into the arcane arts, he realized that the key to his ascension lay not just in personal power but in understanding the intricate web of alliances and rivalries that defined noble society. He had to navigate these treacherous waters carefully. In the back of his mind, Sunan always remembered the impending return of the wizards. The time was coming when he would have to reveal his true potential and lead the charge into the new era. With each passing day, he grew stronger, more confident, and increasingly aware of the responsibilities that awaited him. The world was changing, and Sunan was determined to be at the forefront of that change—a wizard in a world that had forgotten what it meant to wield true power.
