3 Caramel Colored Eyes

Gusion had a terrible dream.

He dreamt of leaving the Paxley manor after being deemed unworthy of their magical supremacy by using close combat maneuver with his daggers.

It was a nightmare. Not a dream.

His father whom he adored so much, gazed at him with disgust. His brothers who passed the magical rite of passage turned their backs at him.

For years, he secretly mastered to combine the power of the elemental light magic with his indisputable skills with the blades and physical combat. He hoped that on the day of his test, his family would be proud of his prowess. He knew he would break the mold and the age-old tradition of the magical family. He was sure of it.

Years passed and he finally came of age to finally undertake the clan's rite of passage.

Unfortunately, everything he hoped for were shattered in to a million pieces. He was banished from the mansion. Disowned by his own father.

He had no choice but to run. And so he ran as fast as he could, he ran as far as his legs could take him. With tears rolling down his cheeks, he cared not where his feet were taking him. As long as it was far away from that place. As long as it made his pain and anguish ebb away from his heart.

He stumbled and fell face flat into the ground. Laughing hysterically as tears were still rolling down his face along with the sudden outpour of rain. How quaint.

Where was he now? He scanned the surroundings and came upon a vast green meadow. "At least the mansion could not be seen anywhere from here..." He thought to himself while wiping the tears from his eyes.

He knew he was a disappointment from his family. But still, in his heart something remained. He also knew he was still right about his capabilities. He couldn't just give it up.

Something... Something in his mind is insisting that this was the right thing. What's more delusional was that earlier he thought he was just randomly running in the wild. Now he must have imagined himself being pulled here in the glades.

The rain finally stopped and let the sunlight radiate on the open field, showing its magestic beauty. He breathe in the calmness of the surroundings, momentarily distracting him from his sorrowful thoughts...

"HIIII!" shrieked the creature from the bush afar, startling Gusion from his ground.

"What the - - -??" He warily eyed the jumping blue blob that was quickly approaching him. "What in the seven hells are you??"

"Hello! I'm Harper!" It introduced itself in front of him, "And I'm one of the guardians of the light. You, my lord, are here after being summoned by the Lady of the Light." It said as if it explained everything that was going on right now.

"What?... Who?... Lady? What Lady??" The young man spoke in utter confusion. "I... I CAME HERE BECAUSE I WAS BANISHED. I DON'T EVEN KNOW WHERE HERE IS!"

The blue creature laughed, filling the air with its shrill sound, "Oh, don't worry, my lord. 'Twas your destiny that brought you here. And the will of the Lady that guided you on this plane." It began, "You're on one of the sacred grounds in the magical forest. And I'm here to guide you in your quest."

"Quest? I'm a Paxley ..." Gusion bit his lip realizing he no longer belonged to his family's lineage, "The point is - I don't know what you're talking about. I'm not here for a quest or whatever. I just happened to wander off here after I got..." He hesitated for a moment, "lost."

"B-but---" Now it's the creature's turn to get flustered by his demeanor.

The young man stood up from his ground, determined to leave the delusional creature behind.

"WAaiit!!" The blue blob cried after him.

The vision blurred and and readjusted with coalescing colors. A kaleidoscope of images appeared in front of him. None if it made sense at all.

This is just a dream... Or a nightmare... A terrible nightmare where everything didn't add up to him now.

Next thing he knew, he was being chased by several cloaked men. They tried to kill him but he stood his ground and fought them with his magical blades.

Darkness shrouded their standoff but that didn't stopped him from eliminating his enemies one by one. He can't even remember why he was fighting them there in that dark alleyway. Why was he there again, anyway?

Oh... This was just a dream. He tried to tell himself.

These men must be some kind of hallucination. He concentrated on other thoughts to veer away from that dream. As if he was now in control of his dream.

SHHHHUUUUNK!!!!

A sharp pain seared through his right arm. He turned and was grazed by one the shadowmen. He gasped and buckled from the injury.

Something was wrong. This was supposed to be a dream! Why did the pain felt so real?

It's as if he was falling... Falling quickly in to the abyss. The pain from his arm dragging him down a dark endless pit...

"Gussssion..." A malevolent voice called out his name. "Bring. Her. To. Me..." The voice... Came from the abyss... Or was it the abyss itself?

NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!

"WAKE UP!!!" Another voice called out to him. This one seem to came from the light - trying to pull him back.

"Hey, idiot. Wake up!"

He stirred up from his sleep. Furiously sweating and out of breath. Still disoriented from the nightmare.

And as if he didn't felt disoriented enough, he readjusted his vision only to meet the most mesmerizing caramel colored eyes of the flame-haired beauty in front of him.

He held his breath and blinked rapidly just to make sure this was not another dream.

The girl was just about the same age as him. She rolled her eyes and sighed, "Finally! You're awake!"
