3 CHAPTER TWO

It was like I was blinded for a moment. I opened my eyes slowly, just to see that it was a stupid bitch that slapped me. I was burning with anger.

"Who the hell do you think you are to lay your filthy hand on me?" I yelled, trying my best to calm down.

"And who the hell do you think you are to talk back at him?Do you know who he is?" she snapped.

"Who he is? Does it look like I care?" I thought.

I gritted my teeth. "To hell with whoever he is, what part of don't talk to me doesn't he understand?" I snapped back.

"If you ever lay a finger on me again trust me I'll make sure you regret it" I warned, walking away. She wanted to pull me back, but Alex stopped her.

"Let her be" He said calmly.

"I'll show her what I'm made of" he added.

"Like I care!" I thought.

I didn't bother to go for lunch because I was pissed. I just walked around the school, admiring it. There was a garden with different flowers, and trees. It had concrete seats, and concrete tables. Right in the middle of each table, there was a tree. It was so beautiful.

"What are you doing here?" Someone asked, and I turned instantly. It was a robust looking boy with big tommy. His eyes were small, and his face was round. He had chubby cheek.

"Just looking around" I answered. He smacked his lips.

"You should be having lunch in the cafeteria, it's against the school rules to be loitering around when it's time for lunch" He moved closer to me.

"I get it, I'm leaving" I retorted, but he pulled me back.

"Don't you want to know my name?" He smirked.

"I don't care, just leave me alone!" I yelled, feeling pissed. His smile faded, and he forehead creased.

"Watch what you say, because I'm a prefect. You can't talk to me anyhow" he bellowed.

"I don't give a fuck" I retorted, walking out of him.

"Seems like they breed asshole here instead of students" I thought.

I went back to my class.

I unzipped my backpack, and brought out the plantain chips I took from home. I ate the chips, peering out of the window at intervals. I picked up my water bottle, twisting the cap, I gulped it down my throat.

I checked the timetable. It was time for economics, and history was the last subject for the day.

I drew in a deep breathe, and rested my back on my chair.

Students started trooping into the class, and I needed no one to tell me that lunch was over.

"How dare you!" Alex shouted at a girl, who was on her knees pleading.

"It was a mistake, I didn't mean to step on your shoe" she quivered, with tears in her eyes.

I became irritated.

"Now lick the shoe" the bitch that slapped me earlier ordered.

"Do they think they're gods or something?" I thought.

I couldn't hold it any longer.

"And why on earth should she do that? It was a mistake, and she apologized" I walked towards them.

She turned to look at me.

"You again!!" she exclaimed, her fist,  clenched.

"Yes me! And you.." I said to the girl kneeling down.

"Don't you have better things to do than apologize to this ungrateful things" I said, and the whole class bursted into laughter.

Alex face was red with anger.

"No one has ever stood up to him" some people murmured.

"Hey, how dare you?" the bitch sassed, trying to slap me again.

I grabbed her hand, and put it against her back. She yelped in pain.

"My name is ASHLEY, not hey" I corrected, letting go of her hand.

"Stupid set of people" I thought.

Alex clenched his fist hard, and the bitch of a girl stood up.

"You!" she said to the other girl.

"Don't you dare touch her! I shot her a glare from where I was sitting. She was about to say something, but the economics teacher entered.

"Good afternoon Mrs smith" they chorused

"Have your seats" she said. She moved to the center of the class. Her heels sounded rythymically on the tile floor.

Alex didn't think twice before walking out of the class.

Asshole!

The teacher went around the class, looking at the assignment.

"Where's yours? she asked me

"I'm a newbie, I resumed today ma'am" I said.

"That's not an excuse, you had the whole morning to do the assignment. It shows you're not serious...."

"There's no need for a lecture, I'm leaving" in retorted, cutting her short. I took out some books, and a pen from my locker before leaving the class.

How annoying!

My eyes darted around for a while. There was no empty class, and I didn't want to go to the library. Luckily, I sighted the music studio. I opened the door, and no one was there.

There were different kinds of musical instruments like piano, guitar, saxophone, and all others. It also had seats like the class. I sat down close to the door, and placed my books on the table. I started working on the assignment Mrs Jones gave to us.

Not long, I started hearing strange sounds. It was more like a whisper.

I became uncomfortable.

It became louder, and I packed up my book to leave. Maybe it was just my imagination because I hate staying alone. When I stay alone, I always think of weird things.

I twisted the door knob, pulling it with force. The door didn't open.

I tried harder, and suddenly, it jerked open. I scurried out, and the next thing, I bumped into Alex, and we both fell on the floor.

I was breathing heavily. I was kinda scared. I stood up to adjust myself. Alex stood up too, he stared at me for a while before speaking.

"Watch where you're going" He said, looking irritated.

It let out a gasp. "No, it can't be, it certainly can't be!" I thought. He looked at me suspiciously.

"You look like someone who has just seen a ghost" he said smirked.

"I'll have my revenge for what you did in class today" he sounded very serious. His voice was intimidating. I stared at the  music studio, before I finally left. I have to find another place to stay. I decided to go to the library.

I spotted the library, and I strolled without saying anything to the librarian. The library was very big, and it had a lot of facilities. I sat down close to the window, and continued with the maths assignment. When I was done, I decided to read any random book since I had one hour before history class.

I stood up to look for a book. I was looking randomly at the books on the shelves when my eyes caught the economics textbook.

*********************************

I glanced at my watch. It was time for history. I picked my books, and headed out of the library.

Immediately I entered the class, everywhere went silent.

"What's the silence all about?" I thought.

I went straight to my seat. The history teacher, Mr Brown, walked into the class. A smile was plastered on his face.

"No need to greet, where did we stop?" he asked.

He seemed friendly.

"The colonial economy" the girl I helped earlier answered.
