39 Limitations (Part II)

Sheeda was such a bad influence on Bremig, that Morral almost missed being alone with the male demon. The female Fire Demon barely ever addressed Morral, and when she did, it was only to yell at her for walking too slow or sleeping too much.

"I need sleep," Morral snapped back at her once. "I'm human!"

Sheeda laughed in her face. "Not for long!"

The only upside of traveling with the female, was that she talked more than Bremig and revealed more information than she meant to during her short outbursts of anger.

"I can't wait to see that pretty hair of yours catch fire in the lava," Sheeda told her.

The information Morral had gathered through the female's cruel words and her hushed conversations with Bremig was not very encouraging. She knew that there was a phenomenon the Fire Demons called Blood Moon, that this phenomenon would occur in about 11 months, and that when it did, they would turn her into a Fire Demon. Now she had also found out that her transformation would involve liquid lava.

Morral almost screamed internally.

There was one piece of information that gave her a little hope though. The female demon had mentioned one night, when she had thought that Morral was asleep, that she had some kind of special Fire Power. Sheeda had asked Bremig about it, but he hadn't known what it was.

This led Morral to believe that they were not talking about her immunity to fire. Bremig certainly knew about that. It was the very reason he had abducted her in the first place. Plus, Morral didn't think that was very special, at least not by Fire Demon standards.

No, it had to be something else. She had to have another hidden power she didn't know about, just like she hadn't known that fire couldn't harm her, and it was a priority to find out what it was. If that power could possibly help her escape, she had to discover it sooner rather than later.

A few days ago, right before Sheeda had brought up the subject of her secret Fire Power, she had told Bremig that Morral could be used to bear demon babies. She had suggested that Morral should have a baby with special Fire Powers before the Blood Moon. Considering that the Blood Moon was in 11 months and Morral would need to carry the baby for 9 months, that gave the demons a time frame of two months to execute their plan.

It also gave Morral roughly the same amount of time to escape.

She didn't think Bremig was going to try to carry out the plan himself. Sheeda had suggested it one night, but he had said no repeatedly.

"I have no ranking or royal blood. The Fire Demon King should decide what happens to her. Maybe he wants a grandson with special powers."

Sheeda had grunted, but she hadn't tried to change his mind.

"You better hope we are in Granza one month from now. You are so stupid, you can't even walk in a straight line..."

Morral had almost gulped as she pretended to sleep.

Her time had just been cut in half. She had to discover her power and she had to act as soon as possible.

The first thing she had to do was convince two demons that never got cold to light a fire.
