3 Ch.3 The Meet
Frey leads Ember to her house across town 15 block away. While halfway to Frey house…
"Frey, what that big tall building off in the distant?"
"Ohh, that the Nexus Headquarter or NHQ for short"
(Ember) So that the building the crazy bow woman working for, I should stop by there sometime.
"Umm, I hope I didn't scare you back at the store when I summon the skeleton"
"N-no not at all, you seem pretty strong"
"By the way, Frey do you live by yourself?"
"No, I have a granddaughter living with me"
"Granddaughter not a daughter?"
"Both her parents die in the invasion almost 10 years ago and her older brother was kidnapped trying to hide her during the invasion and now I am all that she has"
(Ember) I need to know more about this time era about these things I don't know and fast so I don't look out of place when I walk alone by myself.
"Frey can you teach me about his world-I-I mean this place, I seem to have forgotten everything since I woke up in that alley"
"Sure, just ask away…"
"Okay, what is that big metal thing over there that would go beep-beep?"
"Haha, that a car…"
(Ember) A car…
"What that people are holding in there hand?"
"That a phone that people call to one another"
Ember kept asking the question as while going to Frey home.
-15 Minutes Later-
"We're here…"
Ember look at the house, it was a small building but the property was a decent size, most of the property was cover with a small plot of farm and a small greenhouse to the corner.
"It's not the most beautiful home, hope that okay"
-Ember Flashback-
"Welcome back home Ember…"
"Mom?"
-Flashback End-
"Ember you okay…?"
"Yea, I'm fine"
"Let go inside and cook dinner"
Frey walks toward the door.
Ember looking up toward the sky…
(Ember Mom Voice) "Always live for tomorrow, never live for the past, anything that happens in the past you must let it go and live free of guilt and regret"
(Ember Dad Voice) "One day your mom and I will be gone and when that time comes you must never let your emotion take best of you, you're getting older and becoming more a man and MAN ALWAYS STAY STRONG no matter what happens"
*bloop* Ember teardrop hitting the concrete ground.
(Ember) Your right mom and dad, I'll do my best just watch over me from above.
"Hurry now before it gets dark out.
"Sorry I space out for a second"
Ember walks toward the door… *woosh* looking off to the corner of his eye. Continues walking in, upon reaching the door Ember putting one hand on the door (static)*zzzz*.
"Sorry for intruding"
"Ivy are you home?"
"I'm in the living room grandma"
"Can you help me with dinner dear and we have a visitor so can you clean the living room"
"Who is it, grandma?"
Sound of footstep got louder, turning around the corner came a young female with blonde hair, green eyes wearing short up to thighs and a cut shirt where the belly button.
(Ivy) Handsome… he kinda cute. (blushing red)
"Ivy can you put some clothes on that less revealing please"
"Sorry…" Ivy runs toward the bedroom to change.
"Sorry about that, I hope you enjoy that show while it lasted. She wears that only when the home and no visitor are coming."
"Do you need me to help you cook?"
"It's fine Ember, Ivy will help me cook, you can go sit in the living room"
Ember goes into the living room and found it messy with books and paper all over the place. Picking up two small books that were next to each other "Minor Healing" "Minor Dispel", opening the book Ember scanning through the two books.
(Ember) These are simple magic, not very advanced but can handle small, weak wound and dispelling weak effect.
"Do you know magic?"
At the doorway was Ivy standing there looking at Ember.
"Yes…"
"B-by any chance can you-"
"-Ivy come help with dinner if your done changing" Frey calling from the kitchen
"We'll talk later, I'm going to help grandma" Ivy leaves the living room.
While Ivy and Frey were cooking in the kitchen Ember went ahead and clean the living room.
-10 Minutes Later-
Ivy walks come back to the living room seeing all the books and paper was neatly stack and organize on the table.
"...Ember dinner ready"
"Okay, coming…"Ember fallow Ivy into the dining room table.
On the dining table were miso soup, chicken salad, fried fish and 3 rice bowl.
Frey and Ivy sat on one side of the table while Ember sat on the other side.
Frey, Ivy, and Ember begin to eat dinner but there was an awkward silence for a few minutes, until Frey…
"So Ember you are a Summoner?"
Ember looks at Frey in surprise from the sudden break of silence.
"A-ah yes"
Ivy's eye lights up, "Your a Summoner… I am sorry you must have it hard, but what type of a Summoner are you, do you summon monster, creature or spirit?"
Frey laughs a little at Ivy, "Calm down Ivy I am sure Ember can show tell or show you after dinner, and from what I saw he can summon scary powerful one."
Another moment of silence kicks in...
"Ivy I see that your studying magic"
"Yea, I am studying magic for the school entrance exam 2 days from now"
"What are you aiming for at this school?"
Ivy thinks for a moment… "I was hoping to become a healer, but I hear that it's a pressuring role since people expect you to keep everyone in the group alive"
"I am sure you will do fine, just remember that as long as you give your best just be proud of yourself, those who blame other will never learn and will always make excuse to boost their own self-esteem"
"About earlier can you help me study?"
"Sure"
"How about we finish eating so you two can go study"
After finish eating dinner Ember help Frey and Ivy clean up.
"You two can go study I'll do the dishes"
"Thanks, grandma, I'll clean tomorrow lunch and dinner dishes than"
Ivy and Ember go into the living room and sits across eat others on the table.
"S-so Ember how did you become a Summoner?"
"Training mostly…"
"Do people around you look down you, ignore you or make fun of you for being a Summoner?"
(Ember) What kind of question is that…
"What do you mean by that?"
"Do you not know?"
"No, I have this thing call amnesia that your grandma told me"
"Ohh is that so okay I'll explain that…"
*ahem* Ivy clearing her throat.
"There is a ranking system that ranks all known ability. From the best class to worst start from Mage to Ranger to Warrior to Rogue to Demonologist to Spirit-Lord to Fighter than lastly Summoner and those are the order"
(Ember) There shouldn't be any superior classes, it should all depend on skill and hard training that makes the difference in classes.
"I am assuming Healer is not on that list because they're a support class right?"
"Correct"
"I don't think a person ability should be rank by best to worst, instead it all about how hard they trained or skill they are in their own ability. But I must ask why Summoner are the worst?"
"Well… apparently being a summoner required a lot of mental states to control whatever is summoned so it doesn't go wild which has happened in the past history that why people have a bad interpretation of Summoner. Also, the reason why Summoner is the worst is that no one has ever summoned a strong creature or entity"
(Ember) Humm… bad history and the summoning is weak.
"Ember since your still young I suggest you try a different path, maybe a Mage since your able to summon you to have to capability to cast as well"
(Ember) Right, I am young, normally I would be 30 almost 31.
"By the way how old are you… you look like around my age?"
"I don't know exactly"
"Well do you have a Nexus ID?"
"A what now?"
"A Nexus ID that all people who have can use their ability outside in public"
"Nope don't have one, but if I did it would be in my pocket but they're all empty"
"Wait grandma said you summoned in public and without an ID, you know you could be fine without one even if you use your ability for good to help other"
"Do you have one Ivy?"
"I do"
"Can I see?"
Ivy grabs a small purse from under the table and takes out a card. Ivy hands over the card to Ember, closely examining the card there was basic detail on it. On the card there just a picture, person name, random number and small black lines (barcode) left to right.
After looking at the card Ember hands it back to Ivy.
"You can register one for free at Nexus Hub"
"Is it that one big tall building west of here?"
Frey walks into the room… "I am going to go rest now when you two are done studying make sure to clean up", Frey turns around and immediately turns back… "Ember do you have any place to go?"
"No, but I'll manage, I can handle myself pretty well"
"Humm… that won't do at all… Ivy when you two are done study can you go grab the mattress in the closet and set it up here in the living room for Ember"
"Ahh sure grandma"
"Okay then you two enjoy yourself I'm off"
Frey leaves and goes to bed.
"Ember are you homeless?"
"Ahh you can say that"
"What about your parents?"
"Their both dead…"
"Ohh I'm sorry I shouldn't have to ask…"
"It's fine Frey told me about your parents and what happened to them too"
"By the way Ember why do you address my grandma as Frey and not Miss?"
"I don't see them…" (Ember) Crap I forgot, I am not 30 years old so I shouldn't address other informally.
"Ahem, I guess I forgot… *hehe*"
"Crap we waste so much time talking instead of studying"
"What did you need help on anyway?"
"Well… I kinda… can't control my ability well"
"Ahh, you did say that the exam was in 2 days and you are unable to control your ability…"
"I know I am a failure, so laugh all you want and get it over with"
"I'm not going to laugh cause… I have been in your place before, unable to cast magic use a sword or bow but I master it in the end. All that matter is that you tried your best and didn't give up until you master it" (Ember) *smirk* that was about 1000 years ago when I was 6 years old and now I'm a teenager.
"Soooo… do you know any way to help me?"
(Ember) Humm, a way controlling one own magic and having to do with supportability…
"Ivy can you hand me that empty cup"
Ivy grabs and hands it over to Ember. Ember clears the table and put the cup in the middle.
"Here is an exercise for you to help you control your mana. Do you know how to put up a shield or barrier?"
"I can make a barrier…"
"Okay, I want you to make a barrier around the cup than"
"Okay, I'll try…"
Putting out forward her to hands toward the cup a barrier appears around the cup.
"I'm going to try and break through the barrier to try to hold on"
Ember draws a magic horizontal circle mid-air 1 foot above the cup…
"Ready?
Ivy nods…
Ember points his finger up at the circle then with a swooping gesture pointing towards the cup, a single small icicle forming then falling down to the cup. The icicle hits the barrier and breaks into smaller pieces and evaporates into magic particles.
"How do you feel?"
"Good…"
Ember sees Ivy hands shaking and sweats forming.
Ember closes his eyes and slowly breathes in and out.
"Should I stop or keep the barrier going"
"Hold it for just a couple more second"
Ember opens his eyes and within his eye, a blue magic circle forming allowing him to see mana flow. Through Ember eye he saw that Ivy mana was flowing from her mana core to her arms was slow but the amount being release was more than the amount that was coming from her core.
Ember then looks at the cup where the barrier was and saw the mana flow from Ivy to the bubble barrier. The mana making the bubble barrier was going wild, having a mountain like a line around the cup instead of a perfect circle formation.
"Okay you can stop now Ivy"
"*huff*...how I do?"
"You want the truth or lie?"
"Ahh, truth…"
"Well, your bad at controlling your mana so it goes wild while you're using your spell"
"Ouch could have been nicer with your words"
"You said you wanted the truth"
"Well what the lie if I said it instead?"
"You were great, your control was good and shield was strong"
"Thanks for nothing…"
"Your welcome for nothing too…"
*trigger* "I'm about to slap that smart mouth out of you"
"Okay I guess you won't be needing my advice or opinion on getting better than"
"So you think you can do better than me you trash Summoner, show me than"
"I wish I could but…"
"But what… is it because you can't. Humm all talk but no bite"
"Of course not, it just because I am tired right now and plus I don't have my ID so if I do show you and someone sees I'll be in trouble right?"
(Ember) Also because this house is being watched.
"Aren't you a smart one… FINE I'll let this slide for tonight but tomorrow we're going to Nexus and getting your ID and show me there"
(Ivy) Who does he think he is talking BIG, ooo-I just want to hit him right now.
"Ember lets us clean up and set up your sleeping spot"
"What…?"
"You said you were tired so let stop for today or unless you're just lying of course"
"N-no of course not-hehe"
"Can you clean up by yourself, I'm going to go out and get some fresh air"
"WHAT… fine just go"
Ember gets up and leaves the house.
(Ivy) OHH I'M REALLY GOING TO HIT HIM WHEN HE COMES BACK INSIDE.
It was dark out street lights turned on. Ember walks down the street to where there was a small park. Upon reaching the park Ember goes to sit down at the bench.
"So how long are you going to keep watching me?"
A dark shadow walks out from behind the tree.
"Well well hello there"
