48 Chapter 48

"So..." you trailed off looking for something to change the subject to, before a groan of pleasure coming from Munchlax drew your attention, and it hit you like a big ass hammer across the face, "What's the policy on outsiders catching pokemon up here? Cuz I'm not gonna lie, I'd love to take this Munchlax with me."

If it really was a King Gene pokemon, then you could only gleefully imagine how big it would get as a Snorlax.

Norman blinked at the question, "Well...generally only the students are allowed to catch the pokemon here, but we professor's are allowed to catch them as well," he responded, then tapped his chin and smiled, "Tell you what, you agree to help me find my daughter May, and you can catch whatever you want up here."

..A really simple request. Especially since you have Growlithe with you. "I'm fine with that." you agreed, nodding.

Norman then shrugged, "Then have at it," he replied, holding his arm out, "Though make sure to keep quiet about this if you run into anybody else."

Fair enough. You took pulled your hand back from scratching Munchlax, and the furry normal type blinked in confusion, "Lax?" it tilted its head at you in question.

"Sorry, but I wanted to ask you a question," you laughed, and pulled out an empty pokeball, showing it to the normal type, "I'd love to have you as my pokemon. You wanna come along with me?"

to your surprise, Munchlax immediately began smiling happily, "Lax!" it cried in joy, and then tapped the capture button in the middle of the pokeball, and was subsequently, sucked inside a moment later.

"..Well that was easy." you uttered with a blink, staring at the pokeball shaking from side to side gently in your palm. Giselle had told you all the pokemon were expected to go with any student who asked them, but you hadn't thought it was that easy.

Damn, rich people were lazy as hell.

"Well, Munchlax has been here for a while," Norman shrugged, "Nobody has wanted to take him because of how much work a Snorlax is, despite how impressive they are, I think he's just really happy you showed interest in him."

Well, that made sense. Even you'd have been wary of taking the normal type on, especially if he was a King's Gene. But, Professor Oak had multiple Snorlax staying at his ranch, and had long since synthesised a type of blocky food pill thing that contained all the calories a Snorlax would need.

A moment later, the pokeball let loose a ping of success as Munchlax was successfully captured, and teleported away to the Oak Ranch a second after that.

"Well, give me a few minutes then," you continued, making your way towards the forest like area on the middle of the roof, "I'm going to check what other pokemon are up here."

"Fair enough," Norman shrugged, "Just don't take too long."

"Don't worry," You smirked confidently, waving him off, "I won't."

You had to admit, you were kind of disappointed. The selection of pokemon in the forest area was incredibly low. You couldn't find or see any pokemon in the little pond.

And the pokemon out and about were very limited. There were two Kakuna hanging from separate tree's, and a Sunkern that was basking in the sun atop a boulder.

That was it besides a pair of Venonant, and you were actually tempted to go for one. Venemoth had a great move variety, including flying moves like gust, the various spore attacks, poison attacks, it could even learn grass attacks. And on top of that, they had psychic abilities.

But in the end, you decided to pass them by when they skittishly jumped into a bush to avoid you.

You were just about to leave and return to Norman, when a buzzing sound above you caught your attention. You looked up, and found another pokemon laying atop a branch peering down at you in curiosity.

"Huh, a Yanma." you noted. You didn't see very many of them around Kanto these days, not with the borders in place. They were native to Johto, and migrated very rarely. All things considered, right now it could be considered a pretty rare pokemon. At least outside of Johto.

"Hey Yanma," you shouted up to it as it continued to peer down at you, "You wanna come along with me?" you asked, pulling out another pokeball and holding it up.

It cocked its little green face to the side in askance, and you nodded, "With your sound abilities, you'll make a great addition to my team." you pointed out. Yanma specialized in sound wave and shock wave attacks, and were renowned for their sheer speed, especially when they evolved into Yanmega, and their move pools according to the pokedex wasn't too shabby at all.

They evolved upon learning Ancient Power. On top of that, they got moves like Hypnosis, Dream Eater, Shadow Ball, Solarbeam and such.

The red insect continued to stare at you for a moment before shrugging, and rapidly vibrating its wings, taking into the air and zooming down towards you. When it reached you, it simply butted its head against the pokeball and like Munchlax was sucked inside.

"This is way too easy." you muttered, shaking your head as you turned around and began making your way back to Norman, even as the pokeball shook to a stop in your hand and blinked out of existence a few moments later. It kinda took a lot of fun out of things.

You made your way out of the forest area on the roof, making your way back to where Norman was waiting for you.

"Catch anything interesting?" the man asked as he stood up from the bench he was sitting on.

"Just a Yanma," you shrug, "It's sound based attacks will be interesting to play around with."

"Huh, small world," Norman noted, "The pokemon I've been training up for my daughter is a Vibrava, they're almost like a dragon type Yanma, even have the same abilities with sound, though give up some speed in exchange for stronger bodies and more raw power."

Vibrava. You'd heard about the species vaguely. Didn't they evolve into Flygon? You know Lance has one of them.

"So, where should we look for May then?" you asked.

"I'm not sure actually," Norman replied as you both began making your way towards the door back into the school, "I came up here looking for her, she usually likes it because she can get a view form Cerulean and a few other places from here."

You nodded. "Makes sense for a girl who wants to travel," you replied, "Do you have anything of hers on you?"

"I do have her pokedex," Norman responded, reaching into his pocket and pulling it out, "Why?" he questioned.

"This is why," you responded, pulling a pokeball from your belt and releasing the pokemon inside, "Come on out Growlithe."

The large fire canine appeared before you, at the ready for your commands, "Lithe!" he nodded with a bark.

"Wow, what a large Growlithe," Norman whistled, before shaking his head, "So that's why, going to find her through her scent then?"

"That's the plan." you nodded back.

"Well, let's get going then." Norman said, handing you the pokedex. And with it in your hands, you noted that its design was a lot different from yours.
