47 Rotating Spirit Orb

"Rotating Spirit Orb!"

Max roared as he moved his palm forward with the green orb toward Jason. The latter knew he could not dodge so he used up every drop of magic in his body to defend.

This caused Dark Thunder's summon to be canceled, with the Shadow Wolf feeling unwilling to leave at such an important moment.

Jason closed his eyes and prepared for impact. At this point, he could only hope that his defense would be sufficient to allow him to escape with his life.

Max's attack hit right on cue.

Jason felt like his torso had been hit by a blunt drill, so his skin was mostly unaffected, but his internal organs suffered greatly.

He inadvertently coughed up blood just as the destruction of his organs reached a climax, at which point the hands that had grabbed his legs let go and retreated.

This time, it was Max's turn to speak. "I win."

He turned his wrist and Jason was sent flying with the orb still embedded in his torso, dealing irreversible damage to his internal organs while leaving his skin undamaged.

At least, this was true for the majority of his body, except his torso, where the orb was pressed as the area caved in.

Max was not done though as he waited until Jason was at a safe height before he detonated the orb. "Break!"

Boom

The orb erupted in an explosion with the green energy washing over Jason with a vengeance, causing him to scream out in pain. "Eaaaahh!!!"

A bright green light flashed across the entire area for a few seconds after which the light slowly died down and a figure fell from the center of the light.

Max watched Jason's body unceremoniously drop from the sky and land on the roof he stood on with a thud.

Max heaved a sigh of relief as he walked up to the body and bent down to study it.

Jason was undoubtedly dead due to his organs getting crushed into mush.

His body wasn't spared as well as it looked a lot like a stone statue that had experienced vandalism with several chips and cracks appearing on his skin.

Max reached out and touched the body causing it to crumble to dust the next second.

His expression turned grim. "… I definitely can't use this attack except I plan on killing an opponent. It's just too brutal."

Most of Max's Sage abilities were support types that helped to get him out of a pinch and also increase his combat capabilities.

Convergence and Divergence, allowed him to escape an attack without alarming his opponent while also extending the range of his attacks.

Foresight, which allowed him to constantly stay five seconds ahead of an opponent.

And then… Doppelganger.

Doppelganger was his technique associated with the law of Reality.

It allowed him to rewrite the law of Reality to create perfect copies of himself… essentially, another him.

This technique was different from cloning abilities as the doppelgangers were basically him, with all of them having the same power level as well as being able to act of their own volition.

It was a cheat that allowed Max to have five lives as once Doppelganger is active, there is no such thing as a 'real' Max.

All the doppelgangers were Max and anyone could continue living even after the others die.

So far he was only capable of creating four doppelgangers and if one died, it would take him a little over a day to create another one.

Of course, with time and an increase in rank and proficiency, Max hoped to create even more doppelgangers to assist him.

If Summoners were lucky to fight two on one or three on one, Max was able to go five on one!

Alas, even this vastly overpowered ability remained as a support skill that allowed Max to cheat death which was why he decided to create an offensive skill.

He was well aware that there would be times when punches and kicks won't do much to the enemy.

Sure, his close combat techniques were indeed worthy to be wary of but placing his hopes on them would only lead to problems if he ever met an opponent that could shrug off those techniques and deal attribute damage.

After, thinking and pondering, he finally got an idea.

One that was birthed after he recalled a certain anime about a yellow-headed boy that loved instant noodles and also had a dream to be the strongest.

It was his way to pay homage, thus he used the concept to create his offensive skill which was how Rotating Spirit Orb was born.

A technique that forcefully gathered Ordena into an orb of concentrated energy, of course, due to the stubbornness of Ordena to be forced to do things, it wouldn't stay calm thus causing the concentrated energy in the orb to rotate about in a berserk manner.

Just gathering the Ordena was a difficult task that could not be done alone which was why he would use a doppelganger to condense the orb while he gathered the energy required.

Using such a technique, Max was well aware that he couldn't control the power behind the attack, nor could he reduce the damage a person would take when hit with the attack.

In fact, he was not completely safe from the attack as it also placed a heavy strain on his palm and wrist.

Looking at his palm, Max sighed. "A maximum of three times before petrification occurs."

The only reason he dared to use the technique against Jason was that after creating it, he had not gotten a chance to test it out on a living person.

Since Jason was so gracious as to present himself up to be used as a lab rat, Max was forced to oblige.

Just then, the wind suddenly picked up as it picked up Jason's crumbled pieces and took them away.

Max watched this with a serious expression. He had undoubtedly created a frightening technique, hopefully, there wouldn't come a time when he would have to use it against an acquaintance.
