Xiao Mei woke up. Opening her eyes, she saw Marcus's face, filled with charred patterns.

Remembering what happened, she pushed herself up. Freeing herself from Marcus's arms, she looked around. It was a middle of the night. In the sky, two moons were glowing with silver light.

Seeing this her body froze in shock. This is wrong! Where are they?!

Their surroundings were covered in rubble, for now, it looks like they are safe. Looking at her condition, there was a wound where her Dantian is. Her cultivation was destroyed when they were attacked.

It was her fault this happened; she could have waited and try to breakthrough later. She should've listened to Marcus's warning and leave that place. Now her cultivation is gone, and Marcus is…

Marcus… she should check how he is doing.

His skin was charred, body filled with cuts, both shallow and deep. The wound on his stomach was the most severe. How did he manage to survive? Long Jiao entered the city of Higherground. By now subordinates of the Demon King investigated the scene, and unless they use something to see the past events that took place there, they will assume that he is dead. And demons with an ability like this are very rare, and Treasures that can do it even rarer.

So unless they meet face to face, he will be safe.

Now, if the Demon king finds about him being alive, he will be executed.

If he wants to hide, he first should leave the territories of the Demon King. This is already a problem in itself, considering that most of this world is the territory of the Demon King. The only place that did not unite during the Human Invasion is the Selante Archipelago. Safe in the middle of the sea the human invasion never reached them.

The only place where the Demon King has no influence. This is where he needs to go. But again there is another problem.

To get there he needs to cross the Deadserpent Sea, that is filled to the brim with powerful Monsters. If he wants to cross it, he will need a boat that can hide from them, or survive their attacks. And except the Demon King, not many people have them.

Long Jiao wanted to cry. So much hardship because he wanted to play around with a mere Human!
