41 Hidden Danger

Xiao Mei didn't waste any time and started cultivating. Sitting at the edge of the lake Qi moved around her, creating a vortex as she absorbed it.

Standing behind her Marcus was looking at the sky.

It happened in a matter of minutes after Xiao Mei started to cultivate, dark clouds showed up on the horizon and quickly cover the whole sky.

With his eyes, he saw that they were not regular clouds. What looked like clouds, in reality, was pure energy, it's movement was chaotic and fast, and as it gathered more energy, it started to condense, forming into purple lightning.

Minutes passed, and with a loud crack, energy fluctuations around Xiao Mei intensified, creating a disorder in the flow of Qi in their surrounding.

She succeeded, and now the Heavenly Tribulation will come.

Marcus released his lightning above Xiao Mei, coming from one hand it came back into his body through the other one creating a bridge above her. This way he will attract the Heavenly Lightning, and shield Xiao Mei.

And as Xiao Mei was stabilizing her cultivation, the first Heavenly Lightning came down.

Seeing the thick, purple lightning, Marcus knew it won't be easy to hold it. And when it came in contact with Marcus's lightning, it was sucked in with the current, and as it entered his body, it filled all the pathways he created.

Marcus tried to keep it all inside, but with how much of it was, some started to leak out. Knowing that he won't be able to hold all of it in, Marcus moved it towards his back and let it go. He looked like a guardian with wings made of lightning. The reason for him moving it towards his back was to not accidentally hurt Xiao Mei that was in front of him.

He was absorbing the energy of the Heavenly Lightning, but in it was also other types of energy, and with a small amount of effort he separated them. Since he wasn't able to hold all of it in, what he didn't need was ejected from his back. And the wings made out of lightning changed into pure white energy mixture.

Madly absorbing all of the lightning energy, Marcus's Core was massively expanding, and his energy increasing. With so much in his body, the pathways in his body began to expand, reinforce and became elastic allowing him to control the Heavenly Lighting more easily.

Looking at the sky Marcus saw that a second strike started to form and will soon descent, and he was only halfway done with this one. He can hold another one in his body, but a third one…

It may be difficult. Unless… he will release all of his energy now. If he empties his core off all energy and puts all of the lightning energy from the first strike there, he will be able to hold two more lightning strikes in the pathways.

With the plan in mind, Marcus gathered the energy from the core and pushed it towards his back, and released it all...

What happened next shook the earth and heavens, it was so powerful it disrupted the energy flow of the Heavenly Tribulation. This caused the second strike to be delayed and merge into one.

Behind Marcus for a moment formed two huge wings of lighting, the energy was so immense it was impossible for them to hold shape and the wings reaching the sky, exploded.

Expecting this would happen, Marcus made sure that the energy explosion will travel out, and to do this; he used the mixture of different energies from the Heavenly Lightning he had some control over and created the rough shape of wings with weaker tips.

As his energy filled them, they expanded and the first part to break where the tips of the wings, because of this all the energy traveled towards the exit point that was created.

The result, tens of meters of destructed land behind him. But now was not the time to worry about this.

The two merged Heavenly Lightings were coming.

With the Heavenly Lightning energy that he now had stored in his Core, He again created a bridge of lighting above Xiao Mei. At this point, she was finished with stabilizing her strength and was looking around. Seeing Marcus behind her, she was happy to agree for him to absorb the Heavenly lighting,

And as the two merged Heavenly Lightings came down, Marcus intercepted them. Sucking all of the energy into his body, Marcus felt the pathways in his body expand.

Crack!

With no warning space above the lake cracked, like broken glass it fell apart and what emerged was a massive gate.

"Host! You have to run now!"

Looking at the gate Marcus had an ominous feeling, and with Es telling him to run there was no need to think what to do.

"Xiao Mei! We need to run!"

"Run? There is nowhere for you to run anymore! Now is the time for us to get revenge!"

Hearing the voice coming from the gate Marcus and Xiao Mei froze. Turning back they saw a Youth standing mid-air. He looked like a normal person except for small horns on his forehead. Suddenly he disappeared, and when they saw him again, he was in front of them with his fists punching towards their Dantians.

They had no chance to defend, and both of them were sent tens of meters back, Xiao Mei's cultivation… crippled! Marcus...on the verge of dying!

Being barely conscious he wasn't able to control the energy of the Heavenly Lighting, and it started to ravage through his body. Forcefully controlling to calm down Marcus regain some clarity, and as he was close to dying, there was not much he could do now.

If he tries to run, he will die.

Now he can only fight! He will either die trying to survive or live by winning!

With his body already severely damaged, he used the lighting energy to force his muscle to contract, and he stood up.

His eyes opened, and Jörmungandr in hand, lighting armor engulfed his body. WIth an enemy so strong his strength is not enough, so he started to madly absorb more energy from the Void Dimension!

Lightning on his body intensified creating lighting wings on his back!

"Interesting. You are truly interesting. Since you are already up, why don't you come?"
